The normal course of action is to get an RFE. However, when we mailed our package, we also forgot to include the W2s and we got approved without an RFE. If your evidence is sufficient, then they might over look this minor missing document.
In the meantime, why don't you go ahead and request your tax transcripts - they are free. It takes them a couple of weeks to arrive, and if you do end up receiving an RFE due to missing or incomplete tax transcripts/returns, then they are there and ready for you to copy and mail back. If you don't get an RFE, well then you can keep them for naturalization... if you want to apply for naturalization when you become eligible, then you need to submit tax transcripts again so they will be there and ready for that phase as well.
    hope this helps

Hi There!! Congratulations... one final step is now on its way - and one more June filer is turning red
OK, to answer your question, no, the re-entry permit is a US travel document that you can apply for while a resident (if you need to travel and have either no means of being able to travel i.e. a valid passport, or you need to travel to a country that may cause you some difficulty due to the passport you are carrying from your original country)... therefore, since you didn't know what it is exactly then it means that you didn't apply for one...
The other question regarding any additional immigration documents - I am not sure what it is but I would just ignore it if you have the GC on you.
All you need is your oath letter and your GC...

I think Dallas is a relatively fast DO. After your FP, you should receive shortly a status update about being placed in the queue for interview. Then it shouildn't be too long before you get another update saying that you are scheduled.
I remember when I was going through the citizenship process and I compared the Dallas, Houston, and Austin offices...

    1. Yes, self employed
    2. I went a bit overboard, probably- I listed the cat rescue I am on the board of directors for, my Sam's Club membership etc. I would definitely list any political and professional associations.

The only time he won't be allowed to travel is right after his Oath Ceremony due to the fact that he will have to give up his green card to receive his naturalization certificate. Until he receives a US Passport, if he leaves the country, he will not be allowed to return.
If need be, the passport can be expedited though. I went to Chicago the day after my Oath Ceremony with my naturalization certificate in hand and was able to receive my passport that same day (at an additional cost for expediting, of course).
So just make sure you apply for his passport right after his ceremony and you should be fine!

When you called USCIS what did they tell you? When you raise a service request they send you either an email or a letter in response.

If you cannot get her status information you can write "unknown" on the form and it should be fine. Since you have her SSN, USCIS should be able to track that information if it is really important to them.

You could use "Homemaker" or "Did not work outside home"
Put 1 if this is his only marriage, more if applicable.
All forms are acceptable to USCIS, personal check is easiest, and best for tracking.
In general, use "N/A" if it does not apply to your situation, or "None" if that is the case.
If you checked a box for "No" it would be appropriate to leave blanks for the follow up questions.
    Correct, Dallas TX for OK.

You can't claim you are black when you are white and vise versa, and you can't claim you are a boy when you are a girl. And you can' t file your taxes as being single when you are married.
Now that I have explained white and black, boy and girl, married an single to you, know that your case isn't so bad as at the 5-year mark, your marriage means nothing anymore. What matters for naturalization purposes at the 5-year mark is that you have never failed to file an required income tax return. Well, you didn't.
If you want, you can amend your previously filed income tax return for 2011, but, frankly, I don't think it will even be necessary. If and only if it comes up during the interview, you can explain this the way you explained it here.
So take a deep breath, and relax. The only thing you need to do is find another tax preparer. Boy or girl, black or white, single or married, but not a moron.

Looks good. You can apply 90 days prior to your 5-year anniversary. Some advice: I would leave a one week grace period and apply 83 days prior to the 5-year anniversary.

Khushi81 - Please indicate the dates of each trip. That will give a better idea to members here to advice you. Was any of your trip more than 6 months?
Indicating town names for previous employers is fine. You don't need the exact address.

you need to go to SSO and update your record that you became a USC. Your should wait a couple of weeks before doing that but there is no way to avoid it...
However, a comment I forgot to add previously, if you ever feel that you may change your name, or you feel you might at one point in the future, now will be the best time during your oath.

If you do not want to change your name, then you don't have to. Last name change does not make a difference in the eyes of USCIS unless they find other evidence that makes them suspicious of your marriage.
However, if you do wish to change your name, you can tell your IO during your interview about it, they will make the changes infront of you and enter them in their system - it's that simple.
During the interview, the IO will go over your application and see if there's anything that needs changing, adding or removing. Example, since you applied, you traveled for 2 weeks somewhere, they will enter that in the app and notate it.
Once you have legally changed your name, which will happen during your oath ceremony, you will need to go to SS office, Driver's license, etc... and notify them of the name change.

How did you become an LPR? That may make a difference in when you are eligible.
You can apply no earlier than 90 days prior to the 5 year mark. From what you are saying that will be in March 2013. Processing takes a few months. Once approved and naturalized you can then apply for a US passport.

Have to report that trip on your oath letter and also bring your foreign passport book with you in case they want to verify that trip. Shouldn't be problem, but if your US citizen spouse dies on the way to the oath ceremony, happened to one board member, and applying with marriage, then you are screwed.

An I.O. will just quickly check if you are still eligible, while you are standing in line, ready to surrender your Green Card. Takes probably less than a minute.

v333k reacted to Brother Hesekiel in Certificate of Naturalization - is it okay to laminate?
Let me assure you, in the overwhelming amount of cases the CoN comes back as purdy and crispy as the moment you've first held it in your hand. The passport folks handle these day in, day out. You are not alone.
Important is that you have scanned the CoN with high resolution, then made at least 2, better 3 color copies. Once you get the CoN back, put it in the bank safe or the safest place you have access to. You don't need immediate access, because it is really a worst case scenario backup document in case a Tsunami, wildfire, or earthquake has swallowed your entire house and every document you ever had with it. For that reason the CoN needs to be safe. Really safe.
Also, you need to apply for a passport book and, for $25 extra, a passport card. Keep both passports separate. Only use the book for international travel; for all other things like updating your SSA records, or proof of citizenship at the DMV use the card. They just slide it and that's all they need to do. It's practical, because you can put it in your wallet.
But, as an American, you do not need to take any form of identification with you. All you are required to do is to identify yourself to a peace officer or federal agent. All you need to do is say: I am soandso and I live thereandthere. That's it. Of course, when you operate a motor vehicle, you need to carry a DL with you. But keep your passport card safe as well. With the passport book and the passport card, you have two independent proofs of US citizenship, and there's no need that you ever should have to pull the CoN out of the save, save for a catastrophe.

BTW, I did talk to my attorney and he did mention it is the date they receive that matters.

v333k got a reaction from HeatDeath in applying for a job with U.S Citizens only...
There are many jobs that require citizenship for consideration. However, every rule has its exceptions, and you can certainly indicate that you are not a citizen. You may even talk to someone in that department about your application and if they are willing to consider a resident for the position.
However, under no circumstance mark that you are a citizen - because if this goes out, and in a weird way, USCIS finds out about it, you will be denied citizenship in the US when you apply.
However, yes, they are allowed to indicate that only citizens will be considered for the position. Many times it is due to security issues...
