I'm just saying it's possible that something can respond to a stimulus without feeling pain. There's no nerves for pain in the brain so if someone's brain (an adult even!) is shocked (stimulated) with something while they're awake like you see on tv programs during an operation, they don't feel it. the person still responds to it by moving their arm or twitching something or whatever, but they didn't feel the shock.

Responding to stimuli is one thing - having the nerve development necessary to feel pain is another.
There is no reason to suppose that the one contradicts the other.

Any threads about abortion, whether pro or against, are going to invite very emotional responses.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and everyone must make their own decisions about whether or not they choose to have an abortion. It is no one else's business!!!

sexual orientation and family arrangement should not matter. spouse benefits should be available to spouses...a gender neutral term. Child benefots should be available to children.
My step-children (I hate that term and never use it except for illustration here) are covered by my medical plan. Do you think they should not be? They are only "mine" due to marriage...does marriage mean nothing to you?

Sure. Let the parents teach their kids about sex ed. But, by the time the parents teach them, the kid has already reach puberty and begin to alienate themselves from their parents and start to do secret things.

I'm just saying that it's not an objective line in the sand. Some kids/parents wouldn't feel comfortable talking about these things. That doesn't equate to bad parenting.

I resent the implication that because you don't think your child should be taught sex-ed in school, it shouldn't be offered to ANY children. I don't see what all the fuss is about, really. I never had a sex talk with my parents, and I turned out perfectly well adjusted and morally upright in that department. You can opt out, or keep your kid out of school that day or something. But saying that it shouldn't be offered because it's the family's job to teach these things is narrow-minded and dismissive, in my opinion.

How can you believe that ignorance is ever 'better'? The age groups are targeted because they are currently GETTING INTO TROUBLE DUE TO IGNORANCE. Knowing how to put a condom on, knowing what a sexually transmitted disease is, how they are transmitted, what the implications of getting one are and how to prevent them being transmitted amongst an acknowledged sexually active age group is a much better choice than some silly presumption that a parent 'knows' when their child is considering engaging in sexual experimentation and leaving it all to some misguided belief that they will not do because their parent 'does not approve' or better yet has never even raised the topic up for discussion because 'my child is too young to think about sex'.
Engaging in sexual experimentation without the faintest knowledge of what that entails is a complete recipe for disaster and no matter what your idea is as to when sex is acceptable, your hypothetical child, and the children of thousands of other similarly disabled by ignorant parents have no chance whatsoever to avoid making bad choices should they choose to experiment with sex before you are ready to arm them with knowledge.
You do not have to worry, I have no intention of teaching any sex education classes, but were I to do so, I am quire sure I would be able to do it without encouraging young children to engage in sexual experimentation at a young age. Personally, I am firmly of the belief that women in particular should learn that sexuality is not their only virtue, and that a good education and a start up the career ladder is a very valid route for a woman to take. Women should not be defined by their #######, but lacking basic sex education is a great way to leave women in the 19th century.

Unfortunately, in a courtroom situation, a stack of email printouts is completely useless, ESPECIALLY if they themselves seem fine and you have only your word against hers that they are "lies". That and a buck might buy you a cheap cup of coffee, sorry to say.
Unless they are printed by the internet service provider's system administrator and are accompanied by a subpoena and a court-notarized letter to that effect, emails are just text files. They are the easiest things in the world to fake, and have no evidentiary value whatsoever!
I'm afraid it will be very, very difficult for you to show that the marriage was not entered into in good faith, and without being able to show that, your ex-wife should have no real difficulties filing an I-751 (with divorce waiver) on her own and obtaining a 10-year GC. She'll even probably get it early, if she's well-read here or is receiving good advice, because being divorced, she can file her I-751 now instead of waiting for the 90-days-prior-to-two-years mark.
She'll have to wait until the 5-year mark to naturalize, instead of being able to after 3, but that's peanuts by comparison.
Petitioners who are accustomed to the immigration system giving them some power or control over the beneficiary frequently receive this rude shock: once the 2-year GC is issued, the amount of control the petitioner retains over the process drops precipitously. Once divorce papers are signed, the amount of control goes to epsilon [as close to zero as you can get while still being distinguishable from zero.] Honestly, the desire for control manifested in the subject line is actually weak-to-moderate evidence that the marriage was entered into in good faith by your ex-wife. If this power dynamic was a part of the marriage, it was almost certainly a major cause of the divorce.
The smartest things for you to do right now are:
A ) Materially: make sure your locks are changed, she is removed from your bank accounts and credit cards and insurance, and that you do not contact or communicate with her except in public with neutral 3rd party witnesses present. Protect yourself financially, materially, and legally.
B ) Spiritually [and FAR more importantly], put every last ounce of effort you can muster into forgiving her, letting go, and wishing her well. The desire for revenge, to see her clapped in irons and loaded by ICE on the first plane to Cambodia is not only unrealistic [as in it almost certainly won't happen, see above], but harboring and encouraging that pleasant fantasy - even finding it pleasant - will in the long run do FAR more serious damage to your own soul than any consequences it will have to her. Let her go. She hurt you, and nothing can change that now, and she will have to deal with the consequences of that, in time. Desiring to hurt her back is only allowing her to do far deeper damage to you still.

On May 28th on the night of my bachelor party I got a text from the USCIS saying that my case has been updated. I didn't find out what it was until I got home late that night but to my excitement I read that my wife's green card has been approved and card production has been ordered with no interview. We had our actual court wedding back in February and I filed a few weeks later for AOS...but the wedding for the family was on May 29th. It just made everything all the better.
One thing I should mention here on this forum is that we followed the instructions in the AOS instructions precisely. Since my wife came over on a K-1 visa and had her medical in Manila, there was much debate about whether or not she should have got an I-693. The instructions simply say that K-1 Visa holders just need a copy of the vaccination supplement sheet. A lot of folks here were saying that there's a good chance we'd get an annoying RFE for that. Fortunately for us we never had a problem with that and I encourage people here on K-1 Visas to just submit the vaccination supplement sheet and not go through the trouble of getting the I-693. Even if the USCIS screws up and sends you an RFE for it, you can always then proceed to get the I-693. It's better just to take the chance and have a smooth process. The only thing we got for an initial RFE was that I forgot to scan mine and my parent's passports for proof of citizenship but that was my fault. That caused about a 2 week delay.

Jim I agree with what you are saying about the spousal support and awards in family court. BUT google Cheshire v. Cheshire, 2006 U.S. Dist and read about it. It deals with contract law and breach of contract and has nothing to do with spousal support. It essentially says the person who signs the I-864 has made a contract with the person they are sponsoring to provide them with an income level of 125% of the poverty level. One recommendation from another site was that the sponsored party sign a form basically saying they would never ask for the contract to be enforced.

You may say is not my business, but in my opinion she will need time and effort to adapt herself in to her new life. Seem to be simple, but considering she is leaving behind "all" her life (family, friends, jobs, language, culture), I think that is normal that tears could appear for several months. This happened to me, and after a year, I still can feel depress sometimes.
You two guys need to take a big breath and reconsider your situation. "don't do nothing that you might regret later"

We're also not an isolated country that promotes protectionism. We allow American companies to operate outside this country's jurisdiction. We allow almost a free flow of goods to enter into this country from all over the world. Do we need need regulation of goods and people who flow in and out this country? Sure. But we don't need to get all worked up over the undocumented workers here who we directly benefit from. The ones that want to stay, make them pay a fine and give them some kind of work visa. That's the most rational solution.

I understand and that's a great fee for medical, what I am saying is that I should not be paying a dime for USCIS' inefficiency after I already gave them $1010 and after a full, passed medical exam in Italy that costed me 200 euros. Hopefully since I filed 2 weeks after I got here my medical hasn't gotten lost yet...

This comment is completely out of line, against the terms of service and directly offensive to the majority of VJ members. US immigration is what it is. Canadians actually have it easier than those coming from nearly any other country because of the proximity and relative ease of visiting during the process. What would you be saying if you couldn't visit at all and your spouse had to fly half way around to world for any visiting to occur during the process?
