But do i have to remove conditions early -if i got a divorce now, or can i wait until two years is up to remove conditions, like normal?

My issue is i cant afford the ROC fee right now. As well as the divorce fees. But i might get a divorce next month so i can try and get the car back. I cant afford to pay for both right now. He wont pay for it, he has no job right now, or any money!!

How long does it take for them to divide up assests? Just one car? If he moves state, i may not get the car back, as i wont be able to find him.....

I dont know what im doing but id like to give it a go here. I guess theres a part of me that still hopes we can it work out... even though i know its not a good idea after what hes done.

My story is in my past posts. Basically, ive been here for one month now (POE in January). I found out my husband was cheating on me for 2 months, of which i had no clue. I wanted to make it work because i love him so much. Two days after i got here, he ran off with her. Now im staying with his family. We have been married for one year. He is saying he wants me back (at the moment), although i love him, I dont know if hes lieing (hes a compulsive lier, and is back on drugs since he met her, he was clean with me), also i dont think it could work now... And his family and everyone is telling me not to get back with him.. im stupid to consider it etc etc..

How soon after getting a divorce do you have to remove conditions on the green card?

How long does a divorce take in PA-- if the only asset is a car?

I paid for this car in August, but its in his name (i didnt have a SSN at the time), Im worried he may skip state soon (he gets of probation in March) and I wont be able to get my share of the car back if i dont divorce soon. Its a used car, i paid $2500, plus $700 for a new engine.

But I think it will look bad to immigration if i get a divorce after only being here one month!! The marriage was real, i have loads of evidence, plus letters from his family who im staying with.

Also, i cant afford to spend $400+ on a divorce and the removal of conditions fee right now, if that is what needs to be done. I only just started to look for a job, ive just got my SSN.

Any advice on this complicated situation that you can give me will be appreciated!!

Update on the situation.

3 weeks on he hasnt spoken to me or anything. Im still staying with his family. He went to Jail on a probation violation. Hes out now.

Hes saying i told his probation officer on him, which i didnt.

So now hes put on facebook that hes gonna report me to immigration that i married him for fraud. I HAVE TONS OF EVIDENCE and his family will say THAT THIS MARRIAGE WAS REAL. Hes the one that cheated on me and left me for someone else.

He doesnt have any receipt numbers or any information to give immigration when he calls, as i have all that in my possession. Can he call them without this information?

I still havent received my welcome letter or green card in the mail, but i have applied for my SSN.

thanks i dont have my birth certificate, i sent that all to NVC. I have my passport and driving licence.. also credit cards.. is that ok?

I did a change of address so I dont think it would have gone there, and i have a friend who has been checking the mail and he hasnt seen it.. but yeah its a possibility i guess.

Ok i changed my address and i haven't received my green card or welcome letter. But can I get a SSN now with my stamp/green card in my passport? I came through JFK. until the one in the mail arrives?

I just read on another thread that you can. Ive had a really bad time since arriving, my previous post explains my situation.

Ive been here 2 weeks so far, how long does it usually take to get a welcome letter etc?

USCIS mail is government mail which is NOT forwarded.

Can anyone please clarify this?

When I called USCIS they said to change it at the post office, I said government mail wasn't forwarded- they said it was.

I filled out the AR11 but they said that wont change the address for the green card to be sent to. And they cant look at what address is on file until I receive my welcome letter and have a receipt number to give them which will also go to his old address

I have changed my address with the post office near where im staying. Should I do it online as well?

I'm not sure what else to do???

I will pray for you. And for him, that he comes to his senses. I am sorry for your predicament. In terms of advice, I don't know what to say-if his relatives are on your side at all, that may prove to be helpful-try having them speak to him about what he is doing.

Thanakyou, he is running away from the problem- that he cheated on me, and hes mad at his family because they told me what was going on. So not sure I can even speak to him at this point

thankyou we have been married for 11 months but together nearly 3 years. Im so heart broken. He used to have a problem with drugs before i met him, but was doing great while we were together, and i think hes gone back to it.

I have tons of evidence of a bonafide marriage know. Tons of phone records, his family and my family know that our marriage was real, MY FAMILY flew out to the US and PAID for our wedding!!!! they have receipts of this. We had a lease at our old apartment. Hundreds of pictures, all massive wedding album of wedding photos.

TBH i dont know if i want to stay longer than that.. I will prob go home before two years, but i just want to know what my options are. His whole family are on my side and feel sickened by what hes done. Im staying with them right now. I feel so sick, i honestly never thought he could do this to me.

Hi, i need some serious help here, im so so distraught, confused, hurt, cant eat, sleep anything.

My husband petitioned for me, we got married last Feb, and had a great relationship for 2 1/2 years. But on this the last leg of waiting for the green card (for the past month) he has been cheating on me. He confessed to cheating and said that he wanted to do what ever it takes to make it up to me and save our marriage. I arrived in the US 3 days ago, and the first day i was here he was apologising non stop, he loves me and wanted to make it up to me. But two days later, he just left me at the house and ran off with her, he told his friend who lives at the house that he wont come home until im gone!!!

I didn't see this coming at all, everything has been great between us and we loved each other deeply.

So now im at his cousins house who have been great and feel sick to their stomachs since they love me and cant believe hes done this to me. His cousin works in health care and wants me to stay with her and says she can help me find a job etc.

Im so confused, I don't want to just go home to the UK, i need to stay out here for abit and find closure, and i dont want all the money, time and effort that i invested into moving to the US and starting a new life to be for NOTHING. So i would like to stay (at least for a while), where do I stand on this? its not my fault hes done this to me!

Also, the green card will be sent out soon(ive changed the address to his cousins), but how long does it usually take for them to send this out? Ive been here 3 days- and im worried that it will be sent to HIS address. Will the change of address redirect the card to the address I just put down (his cousins). Plus I have now changed the address on the AR 11 form twice since arrival (when i arrived i had to change the address to his current address since NVC hadn't changed it).

Hi, I arrived in the US yesterday but on my package for customs, it had our old address. I did notify NVC of change of address but they didnt change it on the package. I was told by customs to call USCIS and change the address. They said i dont have a pending case so I dont need to change the address with them.

I filled out an AR 11 online to change the address, but there is a step two for pending cases that asks for a check receipt number for the i130 (this was ages ago), do i need to fill this out as well? My friend wrote the check and doesn't have the check number.

What else do i need to do?

I havent got the list on me, but the next page of the interview letter gives you a list of what each code means, if you have to bring a document or not.

Even though they say you dont need to bring a doc as already sent to NVC, I took photocopies of all documents just in case something got lost at NVC. They didnt ask me for any of it.

Im moving to Pennsylvania. I didnt realise flights were cheaper on the 31st! Im having a leaving doo with friends the 14th of Jan so have to stay till after than now, which sucks. I want to leave sooner. I dont think a student visa is gonna pose more questions expect basic ones like, what university, how long etc.

Im going to the Us Mid Jan. I would of gone sooner, but im on holiday to see some family for xmas and beginning of Jan i have things are need to do still. Flights are expensive beginning of Jan as well due to the holiday season.

When does everyone else plan to fly out to the US?

Visa approved!!! wooo! was really simple. Didnt ask to see any evidence of relationship. Asked a few questions about where we met, wedding date, what he does for work, the temping thing came up- but i pointed out i have a cosponsor in case. Didnt even ask for the co sponsors birth certificate (which i had on me, since i forgot to send to NVC). Said everything looks fine, im going to aprove you!

My advise for london would be deffo get there really early between 7.30 and 8.30, earlier the better. You will be seen much quicker. I got there at 8.30 and there was a good few people already inside waiting. It took 2 and 1/2 hours for the whole process. But after I got there- the place filled up, where most seats were taken, i imagine it would of taken alot longer. Its frustrating because the immigrant visa numbers are only called every 10 minutes, non immigrant visas are called constanly!

does anyone know where i can leave my phone etc during my interview, and how to get there from the embassy?

^ Im just taking two recent w2's for my co sponsor. And all recent W2's for my husband. I have sent both of their recent tax transcript (2010) as sending more was optional. No employment letters. Do you think that will be enough? my interview is Dec 1st.

best thing to do is to get on with your lives and forget about it until it comes. Its only been 3 months and the average wait time is 5 months at this stage.
