I am only 16 yrs old
they told me that i need to attend the peer counseling program
what documents should I bring?
ty in advance
what are you trying to do? Why are you taking the CFO?
-
Whether it applies to a K1 or not is up for debate. We had the same issue during our K1 in July 09. Even though you are NOT getting married in the Philippines, YOU ARE getting married somewhere and that is why the CFO is requesting the parental consent form. Go ahead and get the document, it is simple and quick. Make sure you get it notarized as well.
for reals??? grrrr.... I guess I'll go get it just in case they ask for it. Thank you very much
btw, do they ask for both birth certificates as well?

Can somebody please help me interpret this email.... I emailed CFO the other day asking them what kind of forms and documents I need to bring, I told them also that I have a K1 visa, and in the age group of 21 - 25.. and here's what they told me.
" We would like to inform you that if in case both or either one of you is between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, then you are required to submit a parental consent. You need to submit to the local civil registrar the consent of your father, mother, surviving parent or guardian, or persons having legal charge over you, in that order. The parental consent is written in form and the parents or guardian should appear personally before the civil registrar. The consent could also be in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. These will be attached to the application for the marriage license.
Should you fail to procure the parental consent, your marriage is deemed voidable or annullable, that a petition for the annulment of the marriage may be filed by your parents, guardian or person having substitute parental authority over you, in that order.
Though after attaining the age of twenty-one, and you both lived together as husband and wife, the marriage is ratified.
In case both or either one of you is between the ages of twenty-one and twenty-five, you are obliged to ask your parents or guardian for the parental advice. This is also written in form, and accompanied by a sworn statement by both of you that such advice was sought. These are attached to the application for the marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement. If your parents refuse to give you advice or if the advice is unfavorable, then the marriage license will not be issued until after three months following the completion of the publication of the application for the marriage license.
In addition to the parental consent or advice, if both or either one of you is between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, you need to procure a certificate issued by a priest, imam or minister authorized to solemnize marriages or a duly accredited marriage counselor to certify that you have undergone marriage counseling. Failure to provide such shall also suspend the issuance of the marriage license for three months from the completion of the publication of the marriage license application.
For further clarifications, you may call us at (02) 561-8321 loc. 201-203 and 105.
Best regards.
Very truly yours,
JUDY A. OAING (SGD)
Admin. Officer IV

Why in the world they would ask for a parent consent if its under K1 visa.. or does it even apply to K1 visa, we're not getting married in the Philippines! ok now I'm confused with this email

your "normal" signature is fine

Nobody gets denied during the CFO. It's basically an episode of lecture about what kind of preparation to do before flying to the U.S. and a little bit of knowing one's rights in order not to be caught off guard once a Filipino arrives in the U.S. For example, when I attended the CFO, the speaker said that some Americans bring their fiancee to Mexico if they want to get rid of them subtly knowing that the K1 visa is only a single entry visa. What people call as the "CFO interview" is merely that part when the so-named counselor talks vis-a-vis to your fiancee and asks her one or two questions about your background and if she is sure with her decision of going to a foreign land for marriage.
Relax. Your Vicky will be just fine.
All the best for the interview.
Hakuna matata.
God bless us constantly.

I was wondering though, do you still need some kind of parents consent form to marry even though you are 23 years old already? I recieved an email from CFO regarding different kind of consent form for different age group that I need to bring at the seminar... any info is much appreciated.

i am a permanent resident with conditions ,married to an American and have a child with her, my expiration date of my green card is at the end of this month ( January 2010 )and i still didn't apply yet to remove the conditions .Yesterday ,we got into an argument and she said to me :" get the #### out of my house " ,so i have a couple of questions and hope i will get some answers :
- Would they deport me back to my country even if my son is an American ?
- can i apply for waiver because i have a child with her and we will be separated any second .
- If so , would it be better to do it before the expiration date or after .
- i don't really know what to do , so if you guys have any ideas to help me out ,i will be very grateful .
Thank you in advance .,
Try to get back with her....
then get her to sign the change of resident condition soon, if she says forget it... I want a divorce... then get a lawyer.. thats what my friend did, the lawyer can fight for your case, since you were in good terms when they you married, maybe there still hope.
good luck

hi everyone........ today i tried calling the dcf in manila philippines to try and set up an appointment to go and talk to them about some questions i have..... but when i dialed the phone number that i got off the website (63-2-301-2000 ext. 2246/2567.............. although never had opportunity to dial extension, cuz error message came first ), it just says 'sorry this call is not permitted.' i live here in manila, and called using my cell phone here, so i don't know what the problem why it's saying that, especially since i got the number from the website. can anyone with knowledge of the embassy/dcf in manila philippines please help me out on this? thank u for any help
jason
you can't use your cell phone to call, you have to call from a landline, you have to pay per minute to call and make an appointment. Good luck

Best thing to do is get a co-sponsor just in case.
I provided my W2, 3 paystubs and letter from my employer... did not have any problem.
-
Here's what I do...
1. I have metro PCS cellphone service for $30 a month... unlimited talk and unlimited INTERNATIONAL text, so I use that to text philippines
2. I also have a Smart sim card ... roaming.. just keep P100 pesos load all the time... so my friends and family in the philippines can text me all the time and text them back using my cell phone
3. I have a magic jack as well and my family in the philippines... so whenever they want to call me, they can

they are late, makes me very unhappy, it should have been forwarded 3 weeks ago, but that's not the question.
My question is that normally you get the interview after 2 weeks when the girl gets the package in other countries, but it looks like all of you are having to wait a very long time.
Is it true that it takes a couple of months to get an interview date in the Philippines?
Should I call now and make the interview date for her?
Call for an appointment now.... and yes that is possible that it takes 2 months to get an interview date. We waited a month! All you need to schedule one is the Case Number... thats it! Then go get the Medical Exam at St. Lukes before you develop a cold or cough or a flu!!! STart to gather up all the documents you need for the interview as well... good luck

Does anybody know how long does it take to be under AR for submission of non NSO birth certificate. I personally went to Pasay city already and requested NSO issued Birth Certificate, they told me they will send it directly to the US embassy the same day if not the following day. When should I expect embassy to call me?
Whew!!!! I received a reply today from the email I sent to the embassy on the 17th.... they have the birth certificate!!! yehey.. now I just have to wait... wait wait wait... hate waiting

My fiancee had her interview appointment on 12/17 and was turned away by the prescreener because her NBI Clearance letter did not have an AKA containing her old married name. She didnt get to have her interview but was given a letter saying she would be contacted by mail telling her when to come back with the proper documentation. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Doe anyone have any idea how long it will take before she hears back from the embassy? I appreciate any info!
try to get her NBI clearance with her AKA asap, so when they send that letter... she already have the clearance

after the interview they provided a letter addressed to NSO with parents, address, case number and other pertinent info... brought it personnally to NSO at Pasay, when we got there, the employeed that helped us seemed like she already know what was going on, we then filled out a form and they said that they will forward the Birth Certificate themself... same day if not the following day.
-
