No, unless it creates a hardship for him- say he was wounded and needs your help to care for his needs. And even then, he'd need to prove he cannot move to Mexico to do that.

We didn't AoS but I think he had something that was a statement of service. He printed it, that's all I know. We also sent 3 years worth of tax transcripts and 3 months worth of LES's.

Deb+Steve got a reaction from VanessaTony in Australia to US schools
I waited until July to move. One of the reasons was school for my daughter. She was in 5th grade in Aus and started 5th grade here. The maths was very different but a tutor helps and will be easy to catch up on. Spanish was new to her but she caught up very quickly. The school here contacted us over the Summer before she started and set us up with other parents so she would be well versed in the school system before she started.
I don't believe our kids are behind, just the cirriculum is a bit different but once they're used to it ... it's a breeze. The accent made my daughter hugely popular from day one so we've never lacked from a social aspect. Best of luck.

Have to agree with NickD. Why would you even quibble over the $$? $600 or $550 for an adopted child. If you're a member of the armed forces, then it's free. Money well worth spent!

I recieved the reminder in the old address, thank God it was my in laws house, and I recieved it a month before the 90 days window. Sometimes they send it sometimes they don't, so don't really rely on that you have to remmeber it yourself. Good luck.

If it's just one box you could look into taking it as excess baggage. Sometimes this is the cheapest alternative.

Deb+Steve reacted to Scott and Mhay in deployment in 6 months
If you have hardcopy orders (really doubtful at this point since it won't happen for 6 months) then you can call the military helpline to request the expedite. They will most likely want to see your orders since you will not be calling from a deployed location. With your letter from your CO, that might work out...you can only try. The only thing is, even with an expedite it could still take 6 months for the visa to be approved and delivered...which is when you would deploy. How long is your deployment for? 6 months, 1 year? Just remember that the validity of the visa is normally 6 months once issued and you have to marry your fiancee within 90 days of arrival to the US. You are on a pretty tight time schedule. Better call the hotline once you have a case number (as it doesn't look like you have sent it in yet?). Best of luck to you both.

I received the same when I did mine. Missing Police Cert ... it wasn't but they told me they would complete the case, forward it to Sydney and to have a copy of my PCC for the interview. I had a copy of it but they had it in my file at the interview and never asked for it.
You could always track your file and email the Consulate about it once they receive it. Best of luck ...

Check with Tricare and the VA. Honestly, it changes so quickly I can't keep up with it. I gave birth in May and my g/f gave birth in August but between the time I had my first ultrasounds etc, the rules had changed for her.
So it's best to go straight to the source if in doubt especially with Tricare ...

    Welcome.
Read the guides to familiarise yourself with the process. I see you're a ways off so you have lots of time to turn yourself into a DIY expert. I found VJ my best resource. The advice and people were fantastic. The regional forums were a great source of consulate specific advice as each one is different.

Deb+Steve reacted to Dave&Roza in SSN not working...?
To me that is a personal choice. Putting someone on the mortgage just to satisfy the USCIS but costs several thousands of dollars in interest in not a good move. The investments I am talking about are mutual funds, 401k, bank accounts, CC. For AOS and ROC IMHO the USCIS looks for filing tax returns together as one of the more important items as most all married couples file taxes. After that it is up to you as to how much co-mingling is done.
For your SSN issue, I think it is a matter of time. My wife had her SSN for 3 months and tried for a Macy's card--got denied. About two months later we applied for a joint CC at our bank, plus I put her on the checking and savings account and she opened her own account. Now she gets all kinds of CC offers in the mail. So you need to get your SSN out there so it can be reported to the big three credit agencies. Right now you may be in one and depending on which one they check, you either come up or not. If not then you get denied for having no credit history. You are in the same boat as most college age people just leaving home for the first time except you have a spouse that you can "ride the coat tails of".

it is possible this person may resurface in another company name. I was ripped off of $650 by his Utah based scam front. Please be aware of this person. His business has closed and disappeared. His voice mail box is full and his toll free number is down.

I would check again with the HR Department. This is not an uncommon request. Many people ask for proof of emplyment for buying homes and other things. So they SHOULD be willing to provide this document to you without too much effort. Especially since he, the employee, is requesting it. It isn't too much their business why he needs it. He is employed there and does earn a salary so that is what he needs to request the letter include.
    Good Luck!

What visa are you applying for? I never scheduled mine, they did. Usually when they do (comes with P4 if you're a K1) it's around 3 weeks from when they send you the interview day/time. And they typically book multiple people at the same time on a day because they don't book anymore after a certain time of day and just work through all the ones that were booked.

Depending on country, and evidence of ties to home country a visitors visa may be denied. If had one before and did not overstay then may be approved.
The consulates assume Immigrant intent for all tourist visa applications, and it is up to the applicant to prove otherwise, and having an immigrant petition in process just shows immigrant intent.
I would travel over there for a visit rather than trying to get a B-2 visa.
