    welcome
As stated the K1 is more expensive but typically takes less time than the CR-1. With the K-1 you have to get permission to work and permission to leave the country before you receive your greencard. With a CR-1 you can work and travel internationally immediately. As for writing an essay, that is not the case, they just want a brief description of how you met in person, they don't want to know and don't care about your love story. The description is only 4-5 sentences. When it comes to the interview, regardless of which route you choose you will be asked personal questions about your lives and relationship, thats just the way it is. And like the other person said, they will be in your business for a long time. When you do AOS (if you go the K-1 route), and after your 2 yr greencard expires you will to do removal of conditions and that can get pretty involved. If you don't want the government in your business, then you should consider moving there. I'm not trying to be harsh but just being blunt. When dealing with immigration, you have to reveal a lot more of your personal life than you would in a relationship with someone who is already here. Good Luck in whichever route you choose!!

Well Melissa I have seen your blog and some of the comments and some are yes beyond rude. You said the feedback helps you, but how can it be helping if some of the comments make you upset? I have to agree with your fiance, when you put your personally life open on the internet for everyone to see you open all kinds of doors, good and bad. If you can learn to accept that these comments as someone voicing their opinion and in some cases being jealous and having nothing better to do then it wouldn't hurt to keep it on. But I think it would be better for you and your relationship to shut the comments down.
Also, you compared it to a diary, however a diary does not talk back to you, you don't let others read your diary, it is a place for you to write and work thru your issues and reflect on life. If you want your blog to be like a diary close down the comments.
    Good Luck!!

Well I called NVC again today and our case is still there. I asked if there was a difference between "additional processing" and "administrative processing," (I have read on this thread that some people were claiming there was) and was told nope, its all the same thing. I then stated that a K1 is a nonimmigrant visa and that it was my understanding it just passes thru NVC on the way to the consulate, she said well its just clerical work that needs to be done. Told me to call back at the end of the week and see if there is any update.

I would say welcome, but this really isn't a place where anyone wants to be. Hope things move fast for you
