I debated for a while if I should comment on this thread or not. But there are two points that are worth emphasizing:

    1. If she's constantly on her phone, she could be constantly recording audio in the background. Anything that can be interpreted as a threat to her or to the kids can and will be used against you.

    2. No matter what path is taken (divorce or no divorce, go back to PH or stay in US, withdraw or don't withdraw Affidavit of Support), it's going to cost a lot of money and heartache. It's up to you what path you want to take. Plenty of posters have offered their experience. Lawyers will be able to explain the finer details according to state and federal law.

You should be fine. You can generally choose any consulate in the country where you reside, so it doesn't matter whether you choose Vancouver, Toronto or Montréal.

Not exactly the same situation as it pertains to a different type of visa, but my friend who was getting his L-1 visa processed had to wait longer to get the interview appointment at the London consulate, so he chose the Belfast consulate instead where he got an appointment much faster.

When I arrived in 2006(!) on my K1 only NY was still giving out the work permit stamp (I entered in Philly so I didn't get one). I think NY stopped giving them around 2008.

The OP has been asked numerous times to update their time line and or explain the details so they can better be helped. The failure of the OP to do that should be answer enough I suspect in anyone's mind, no use in speculating what's in the OPs mind if they do not want to clear things up. I mean at this stage in the thread everyone is just guessing. I suppose though the OP if they are reading this thread could glean and piece together what everyone has been saying to answer their question! Besides it's been 12 hours since they last were online here at VJ!

How pathetic when the level of political discourse is reduced to schoolyard epithets and populist scare mongering rather than a reasoned debate of actual positions taken by people.  This is why we should be keeping politics out of these forums.

I'm not negative about the K1 because of any EO, but because I went through the process and it was very hard.

I was naive, had not done enough research, and we (or mostly my husband) thought that being together as soon as possible was the most important thing to consider. So we did the K1 and I was miserable for 6 months, sitting at home, no social network, no license, my husband at work all day. In hindsight, doing the CR1 and being able to work, drive, travel, etc immediately would have definitely been worth the extra wait.

Only people who already have a SSN when applying for a marriage license must provide one.  Otherwise, no foreign national could come to the US to be married?

You were admitted with k1 status not as a Canadian visitor.  A different class of entry.    A k1 is 90 days.  Nothing more to read

If you entered with an f visa and were granted a  one year stay,  would you expect them to only give you 8 months because you are Canadian?  No, the rules are based on the class of entry you were granted at the border

Anybody who is competent in both languages can translate for USICS. It just needs to include a certification statement:

Only the G-28 was rejected. A G-28 is not required for them to process the form, so I agree that there shouldn't be an issue there.

Although it's curious how they messed up the G-28 enough to get it outright rejected...I'd be sure to read over the rest of the forms submitted a second time for accuracy as well.

If you have sufficient assets, the best time to apply is about a year and a half before he wants to come to the US.

Otherwise the issue might become his being able to be in the US the majority of the time he has the green card if he and more importantly you are still working.

In either case the cost of affording healthcare is going to be a major issue that needs to be addressed.

The unrestricted SS card + valid driver's license meets the I-9 criteria. They are prohibited from requiring a specific document.

As for why employers ask for a green card still, I would wager that it almost always is because they don't know any better.

It is helpful to use the proper terminology.  There are no "Cosponsors".  Your spouse is the petitioner/sponsor.  One of her parents will be the only Joint Sponsor, and the other will provide an I-864a as a "household member".  If there are any OTHER household members, they only are "counted" in the household size.  Your wife is not counted in that household size, because she isn't immigrating and is not supported by her parents.  Even if she was living in their house, she's not part of the household size.

Become A students of the I-864 instructions.

I'm certain the majority of K1 filers go for a courthouse ceremony and skip the big wedding completely.

They DO NOT ask for proof of wedding plans at any point during the process -though in certain countries they consider them as proof of bona fide relationship-.

For the K1 stage they want to know you've met your partner in person, you're free to marry and your'e willing to do so once you move to the US.

The immigration process and forms don't end when an immigrant enters the US.  There's adjustment of status, greencard renewals, possibly citizenship.

Your choice as the W-4 (not W-2) is strictly a document used by your employer to determine how much tax to withhold from your pay.  However, your 1040 tax filing (IRS) is different.  If you are married as of Dec 31st, you cannot file as single for that tax year.
