My friend is a PR and she wants to leave the US for 7 months to handle some family issues in her home country. How long does USCIS allow and PR to lease the country without the absence affecting their status as a PR.

Couldn't find any concrete answers to the question, so I posted it here.

Thank you so much. Clarifying the I-485 is really helpful. The USC does live in the US, and her spouse lives overseas. He has never visited the US. I just found the EZ Guide to bringing spouse post.

I am a bit confused on the process for bringing the spouse of a US citizen, who lives overseas to the US. My US Citizen friend has a spouse who lives overseas. Now she wants to bring her husband to the US. She is not sure if she should file the K3 Visa or just send the following forms (I-130, I-485, and I-864) to NVC. I have looked at the forums but not sure which route she should chose.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know whom to submit the G-325B for certification. At the bottom of page 2 it asks the applicant for certification that the applicant submitted to be true. Do you just leave this blank and send it in to USCIS. Do they certify this information.

Thanks Kathryn1. I just wanted to know if he IO really knew what she was doing! LOL She did seem a bit scatter brained. That is why I needed some reassurance. I will make the copies of the passport as suggested. Thanks again.

I sent in ROC at the end of November. And I never received my NOA1. My greencard expires in 2 weeks.

I've heard of it happening, when the ROC case is taking too long, and the 2 year card has expired.

Did your card expire ?

Are you applying for ROC?

I don't know if 'it's required', but I smell a regulation, somewhere.

FOR NOW, you're ok - you got the work authorization inside of your passport, as well as another I-551 stamp.

Are immigration officers required to take away the greencard when you are given the temporary one year stamp in your passport. I went to an infopass appointment and the immigration officer took away my greencard. If anyone had this issue can you let me know if this is normal.

So all you have to show is a stamp in your passport? Sorry - can't help with whether that's usual procedure, does seem odd to take it away from you since that is basically the only thing you have proving you're legally here to carry in your wallet.

Yes I have a stamp "serving as a temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residency for one year, and authorizing employment. She wrote my A# in there as well, and wrote that my CR residence has been lifted as of today. So I would like to know if they are allowed to take away the greencards.

I never received my NOA1. I went to info this morning and got the one year stamp in my passport. The immigration officer asked if I was still happily married and if I have ever been arrested. She also took my greencard which expires in 2 weeks. I am just curious if the normal procedure is to take the greencard.

USCIS does deliver to P O Boxes

Add me to the list please! Packet was mailed on November 27th and received at VSC on November 30th 2009. I have not received my NOA1. However I received my biometrics notice for 12/18/2009. My green card expires on 01/16/2010. I am just curious if I don't receive my NOA1 before my biometrics, then I am going to attempt to get a stamp in my passport the same day as my bio.
