Octobert 26 we received a text stating our case had been updated. When I checked the web site it stated:

On October 26, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 90 days of the date above, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance.

Does anyone know how long scheduling takes?

Yes you'll have no problem. I recently came back from Montreal with my wife who has an expired GC. Just bring the extension letter with you.

I received the letter yesterday and it stated my approved date was 3/23/2012. Weird how I received the text and email on the same date the letter arrived.

Hey guys I *just* received a text and an email from USCIS.

Text said "Your case is now updated. check "my case status". A min later I received an email stating "Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production"

I was nervous signing in hoping there wasn't an issue, but I feel great now.

We have gotten some of those questions as well. Why were you in Canada? How long were you there for? Are you bringing back anything from Canada? I am thinking it's part of there process. We haven't had a rude officer to tell you the truth. Fairly smooth!

The reason my wife shows her green card is because is a native of India. They need a visa to enter Canada so we have to show her GC.

I just wanted to give my account of traveling across the border (by car) to Montreal on an expired GC.

I've been looking at numerous threads about fellow VJ'er s asking about traveling on an expired GC. I have to say I was bit worried leaving for the trip. Questions where swirling around in my head. Should I setup an info pass and get a stamp?

My wife was driving once we reached the Canadian border (she speaks french) and I have to say it went really smooth. We spent a whole 2 mins speaking with the officer whom we've given my passport and her GC. He didn't even ask for the extension letter. I don't even think he realized her GC was expired.

On the return trip home I drove and dealt with the the US officer. I gave him my passport and my wife's GC. I also had the expired letter in my hand and handed it to the officer. He knew right away that it was the extension letter and asked if we had an interview. I explained to him that we haven't even received an update from USCIS after we took our bio. He seemed surprised and I let me know we filed back in July.

The officer handed back the documents and said have a nice trip back.

If anyone is worried about traveling to our Canadian friends don't worry!! It is a smooth ride!

I have no touches at all! USICS received my file July 29th. The last touch is 8/1/2011. It just looks like a waiting game

My wife and I are traveling to Montreal in a couple of weeks. I'll let you guys know how it goes! We have the expired green card, the letter and her Indian passport.

That is good to hear Pimster. We're traveling to Montreal the 2nd week of March and I am getting a bit nervous! I hope we have no issues going into Canada!

Why is VSC so slow?!

It's so great to have these forums I feel less alone in the process!

When they state that for married green card holders with a US citizen it's 3 years to apply for citizenship. Do they mean 3 years from official (court marriage) or 3 years when you received the first green card?

ugggggggggggggggggh! I can't wait till this is over!

I have a question regarding RFE. Do they send the RFE early on in the process? We filed July 29th and we haven't received a word from USCIS (other than the bio appt info) does that mean we're mostly likely won't receive an RFE or can RFE's be sent anytime by USCIS?

I filed PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT in July 2011 and USCIS received it July 29th 2011. I am a bit concerned because I have not received anything after the biometrics notice (biometrics done!). The last updated date online is 08/01/2011.

I checked the processing times and its at 6 months at VSC, it will be 6 months the 26th this month.

Should I be concerned?
