    I would have it ready and take it to the interview in case the CO makes an issue of it. No need to submit it to NVC. Have it at the time of the interview. If they are required, you can provide it right then and there. If not, just shred them after. I don't understand what you mean by 'from the beginning.'

I'm a big fan of 'just in case' scenarios. I had 3 joint sponsors lined up. And that stood me well when my original joint sponsor bailed on us. We had another one with his papers all ready.

    His employment will come in to play at the NVC stage when he files the I-864. Document his current income well. Your interview is probably still about 3 months away. As long as he is comfortably over the poverty guidelines as opposed to just scraping by, I think you should be okay.

    No, you can't save the DS230. Fill it out completely and then print it out. Yes, you can handwrite something if it doesn't fit. Do it in black ink. Always SIGN in blue ink.

    There is no such packet 3 for CR-1s. Those are for K-1s. What is this form you mention. The IV packet includes the DS230, part I and II and original civil documents.

    No, you can't work unless a SSN has been assigned to you. Most job applications/employers will require a SSN to process your application.

    If it's not mailed to you within 14 days, you can go to your local SS office and apply for it in person. USCIS has nothing to do with this. I fortunately had a SSN on my previous visa so I can work without issues.

    Biometrics is taken at the time of the interview.

    You can download the DS230 and prepare the packet from beforehand. Send it to the petitoner as soon as the NOA2 arrives so that it can be sent to NVC when the coverletter becomes available.

      Hey,

      Raj, it's been 3 weeks since I applied in person at the local SS office to have my SSN updated to an unrestricted one - I had a SSN on my previous visa so I just need the annotation removed on my card. They made me wait 2 weeks after POE before they put in the request. I have no idea what's taking them so long. Presumably they have to verify the A# with DHS and that's taking a while. Who knows? I will make a few phonecalls this coming week. Have you received your welcom...

      Oh I c..U had ur SSN from ur last visit right....For me, No welcome or GC yet...Still waiting...After that only I can apply my driving license...Here in VA they are asking either of this doc....BTW did u find any job there...

      Oh okay. Yea, USCIS is kind of slow. I actually did get hired as a customer/sales rep recently. Will be starting this week. Keep me posted if you receive your Welcome Letter/GC.

      I feel like it's too soon to contact the Congressman. He's been very helpful during the entire process and we might end up calling him if it doesn't come in a few more weeks. I am planning on scheduling an INFOPASS if there's nothing in the mail by mid-July. Thankfully, I can start my job with my visa/stamp and SSN. I'd just like to have all my paperwork in hand so this wait is frustrating.

      I changed the address at POE and then filed the AR-11 online and sent the I-865 via snailmail. The address on the DS230 is my in-law's place so I'll receive it either way. I spoke to USCIS earlier this week and they said card-production hasn't been ordered so I can't see the address change being an issue.
