Flames9_RN got a reaction from NikLR in Can fiance attend the K1 interview? Montreal Consulate
The USA citizen will be allowed into the Consulate, but it is up to the Consular Officer if they can attend the actual interview. And the USA citizen is not required to attend...in some countries it is highly recommended they do, but not for Canada!

Because your the American, lol. It wasn't directed at you, nor is this: I just find it sort of funny, people complain about how long the process is, but dont have a few hours to spend reading the stickies/guides. Lot of info their to help them out and make things easier. But,not my problem, lol

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Dualie in Asking consulate to delay placing k1 visa in passport so I can still visit fiance
We Canadians don't have to go and get a Visitors Visa to visit the USA.....We simply head to the USA, and at the border the USA Immigration dude makes the decision to let u in (or not) right on the spot. So some K1'ers in the past simply head on down to the USA and the Immigration official "ignores" the K1 visa...but that is up to each individual Immigration official!
Preferable way would be just to keep moving the interview date.......

I was able to leave my RRSPs back in Canada....They did have to send me some forms (no clue what they were) and of course one has to notify the IRS on form 8891 Maybe ask here http://forums.serbinski.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=c25e48bbda5936bd0243f4d730a93d16

Yes dual is allowed. I am. Just that in the eyes of thr American Govt you are soley a USA citizen. When u come into the USA, you have to show your USA passport. Where as when i head back to Canada, I can use my Cdn or American passport.

For as long as I have been on VJ, some get get it, some do not. I was 1 that did not! You can go to the local SSN office anytime, but it takes time for you to get into the system. they Recommend 10 Business days (2 weeks). Your best to download an application http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ fill it out and bring the required ID. So when you get to the window, and they say yep ur in the system, but no SSn has been issued and they say u need to fill out an application...you hand over the already filled out application, saving u time!

Lot of people of got EI.....You have to look and see what type of Visa people came in on....CR-1 and IR-1 can work right away when they enter the USA, so they are eligible for EI $$$ right away.......K1'ers are not work eligible right away...you still need to apply for EI right away....BUT your not going to get any EI money until you have the EAD in hand (not just apply for it) But remember..you (K1) still need to apply for it....Once u get the EAD, you will Scan/email/fax it into the EI office

The Long form birth cert can vary between province to province...Mine from Saskatchewan sure is not on legal sized paper, nor did I get it from the site you mentioned......The size does not matter (lol) it is what is on the paper that counts..has to have the birth parents on the Birth certificate

One should not be telling any white lies or any lies..if you do, you only have urself to blame........And they are not idiots--the border guards...the idiots are the ones that lie and break the rules..because of those people, it makes custom/immigration jobs a bit more challenging. Blame the law-breakers

Fact is many Canadians with K1 have been able to do this.....it comes down to the POE officer...if he/she is ok with it..off one goes on their visit... During my 10 yrs here on VJ, many have reported back with success

Yes all provinces do differ....BC stated a few yrs back they were going to crack down on Cdn citizens that were no longer a resident..but using the medical system as it was costing them $$$$$$. Simple way to look at it--Healthcare is not free--based on taxes..your no longer paying taxes, so no longer entitled to Cdn Healthcare

We used a lawyer..Had not found VJ....Really all she did was PROOF READ!!! Sure she sent us the links to the documents---we printed them off....and WE filled them out..As we are the ones that know and had the info........They do not make the process faster..usually slow it down....they do not have any special "ins" with the consulate/Embassy! You can goto the k1...or cr1/Ir1 forums and find step by step instructions on how to proceed..or u goto those forums or here and ask away for FREE!!
EI---those lawyers will have no clue..and that is after the process anyways..same with healthcare!
Breathe in--breathe out----the process is actually NOT that hard..its the waiting the sucks, lol Best of luck
