say u leave for the USA this yr on ur CR-1 or IR-1...... When filling out ur Canadian taxes for 2015, right on the front page of the Canadian taxes (used to be front page) it asks whn u ceased to be a Cdn resident. For u that will be the day u crossed into the USA and endorsed (activated) ur visa at the Border (or airport).

http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare Make sure u know what the differences are between the k3 and the Ir-1.....I think you may find out the $$$$ is not as far apart as you think..Especially that, as NLR mentioned you can start collecting Employment Insurance (EI) right away( you can't collect EI unless you can legally work---which as a IR-1 you can----where as with the K3, you need to wait and get EAD), and avoid a few other hassles as well. And you are right, only a small fraction of people find VisaJourney, so could chance there are more K3'ers...but make sure you understand all the differences and do what is best for you.

I think Canada has been too lenient in handing out citizenship....many reports of fraud..people that never stepped in Canada given citizenship..they are the ones they need to investigate.......

Both my sisters are RNs in Canada....Don't believe canada has the Associate degree option (ADN) they ised to have Diploma RNs, but not sure if they have that option anymore. Most RNs in Canada now a days start out with a BSN (some call it the 4 yr degree) and their are LPNs..again different schooling..... LPNs less schooling and usually make less $$$.
Back to the BSN..if one already has a degree in another field, there are fast track programs out there, where in like 1 year, you can have ur RNs (BSN)

used a Uhaul back in 2004.....U dont need form 3299 that is for UN-accompanied stuff.....just some kind of generic list, doesn't have to be super duper accurate...can group items together..99.9% of the time they do not even look at the truck!!
Regarding the U-haul truck--just found this out this passed month as we moved my dad from Saskatoon to Kamloops......depending on the size of ur city..u may have to travel a bit to get ur Uhaul truck! We had to drive 1.5 hrs to get ours...and the lady at th epiuck up spot--says sometimes one has to go even further!! They somewhat guarantee u a truck....but it could be a bigger truck and the pick up spot may be a ways out!! And the frustrating thing is they do not tel u that when u book the truck! My dad booked it in person and they told him it would be there.......I went a week before the pick up date and they then said.....oh it will be around Saskatoon, but it may be a bigger truck!! Well it was 1.5 hrs away...yes a bigger truck, which was a good thing....and they kept the rate at the 10 ft truck rate AND took nearly $300 off......Hopefully ur in a bigger city and no issues......I had no issues in 2004 and I was in a small town in NS.

The interview is the easiest part of the whole process...Lucky if it lasts 10 minutes..and much of that time is the Consular Officer going through the paperwork....

The USA citizen will be allowed into the Consulate, but it is up to the Consular Officer if they can attend the actual interview. And the USA citizen is not required to attend...in some countries it is highly recommended they do, but not for Canada!
