I have to play devil's advocate here...
The above advice presumes that the accusations of abuse contained in the VAWA application are genuine, and not simply an attempt to gain lawful status when the spouse isn't being cooperative with adjustment of status. There are no hard statistics, but there are enough horror stories to confirm that the number of fraudulent VAWA applications is substantial. If this were one of those cases then it would be completely understandable why the USC spouse would not want to participate in any program of counseling or therapy because it would amount to an admission of abuse they never committed. In that event, your advice would constitute a recommendation that the OP continue with a fraudulent VAWA claim because her non-abusive spouse refuses to admit that he's abusive.
This is why I rarely post in VAWA topics other than maybe outlining the procedure. This particular area of immigration involves more deceit than any other, and it's almost impossible to tell if the anonymous person behind the screen name is being completely honest.
To the OP - I apologize if any of the above is offensive to you. I'm not accusing you of lying or engaging in fraud. I'm simply saying that you're swimming in shark infested waters, and it's difficult to tell through the internet if you're a dolphin or a shark. My personal philosophy in these cases is to focus on the procedural aspects and avoid any relationship advice since I don't want to find out afterward that I've helped a shark.

The word tantrum was not directed to you. I made a statement of fact regarding your concerns. You haven't thrown a tantrum but even if you do, it won't get you and objective answer to a subjective question.

    Time for a reality check.
You don't have a job. You want to bring her here. Instead of trying to find a way to support the both of you in the US, you would rather hang in the Philippines. That's not a great plan.
Be a grown up. Endure the separation like many other couples. Go get a job to support yourself and your future wife. Sacrifice a few months together to prepare for a lifetime together.

I hired an attorney for the simple fact I didn't have the time to do all the paperwork worked too much. It was money well spent and recommend that to anybody who might be in the same predicament. All that I can say my wife made it here in 10 months. I think alot of people grab attorney's that don't know the laws like they should and are worthless. Then the petioners are whining on sites like VJ's. I found alot of info on my attorney on Vj. He was simply outstanding!

I think if you use a lawyer or not you shoudn't be judged for it. I think people are getting restless because I've read several post in the past couple of weeks and people have been so rude in their reply to information people provide or even statements people make. VJ has a lot of really good information and for me I love reading about everyone's experience and reading people's recommendations on services that may be available. It's up to me to call the attorney or paralegal or whoever and whatever else people advertise. I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. Yes, yes, I know it's against the rules, that's fine but getting boiled over it doesn't make sense to me but to each is own.
I thought VJ was suppose to be a supportive group not a judgemental group. We are all on the same course, trying to be reunited or permanently reunited with our love ones. As Rodney King once said, "Can't we all just get along?"

I totally agree with original post. You should have this thought out to the "T". I had a back up plan if my k1 would of encountered problems and I never worried about money because I soaked up all the overtime my company allowed me and worked a second job. I'm not a big fan of allowing cosponsors if you don't make 125% poverty levels. I believe in hard work and make it happen by yourself.

Be cheaper to go to a therapy, there are free agency that a lot of your work places offer this kind of help then go through the Visa process again. Whats going to change a year or two down the line? By the sounds of your post your a grown adult, what's your mom has to do with this relationship? Do you still live with her? I'm not trying to be judgmental but your wife and children come first. I've had to set the record straight with my parents during my visa process and after my wife and her 2 children came to the state's over how and what I should be doing. I have 3 boys of my own that live with me and mixing her 2 kids in the bunch wasn't easy. They clashed and sometimes didn't get along but over the last 16 months with some tough love and parenting skills were just like any other family in America.
Didn't mean to write essay or tell ya my life story but I wanted to convey to you ,it's not easy! I hate to see people like you go through this heartache of a process then shoot it down the tubes. Best of luck man!
