(so jealous....come on Santa Ana, I want an interview too!)
Ditto
-
*hugs*!!
For the middle name thing, when I got married the certificate gave me the option to change my middle name if I wanted to. BTW anything that they write on your bio letter doesn't really matter, they put my whole maiden name down on it too, just shows they verified your doccuments. As you keep the reciept for it there shouldn't have been anything changed to your file.
Cammie!! What happened?? You should be back by now!!!!
I didn't even realize we are so close. Our NOA's are only 2 days apart and our deliveries only 5 days.....we could end up with interviews at the same time! OMG!!
Well I know the lady that took my fingerprints entered them all as middle name so that got to go somewhere grmbl
*hugs* too
Aww, thanks Shanh! Now I get to wait forever for action on our case, too. But with you and Steph, I'm in good company, so it's all good.
Yep Steph, we're back! And it only took us 2.5 lightning-quick hours!! Woo-hoo!!
Don't hate on me, people. Jealousy ain't pretty.
Cool that it's done and over with, without aggroing anyone
Yeah let's all have our interviews together, would make the wait in the lobby or whatever interesting
-
Tell me about it. I'm so happy to hear of everyone elses transfers and interviews but a little part of me is going "am I next? How about me? Now? Please?". Our fellow Santa Ana filer Shanh still hasn't gotten their interview letter either and their a few weeks ahead of me so I keep hoping they will get it so I can be like "ooooh me next!" I want to start working....or specifically I want my EAD so I can get my cali licence and register my car cuz I don't like driving around on Canadian License/Plates.
And yes, the guard told me I had until 3pm when I forgot my marriage license at home (dont do that ) and not to rush....though we did anyway lol
That sucks Fatima, I know here in CA I could have changed my middle name if I wanted to. Sounds like a hassle for you!
Yeah I'm a bit distressed by the fact that Santa Ana seems to be so slow ...
It's already a bummer that we are excluded from the chance of a CSC transfer just because we reside in CA :/
Btw Danu we're only a week apart
Oh and what did you mean by in CA we can change our middle name?
Because we don't have one in Belgium but I have multiple given names that the immigration officer added as middle names to my biometrics letter without asking me first ..
Congrats on all with good news and I hope John's biometrics went fine with a nice guard

The timelines in posts are done by hand, typing the info in the signature box in one's profile
-
Congratulations

This is not an interview, it's an appointment to take your fingerprints, picture and other info as hair color, height, weight etc.
If you're female and have filed your AOS application using your married name, bring your marriage certificate along
Of course you also need to take the biometrics appointment letter.
-
It's in the I-485's instructions -> initial evidence to be filed with application, page 3.

What confuses you?
The paragraphs you posted confirmed what Mari Joe told you, it all depends on what is written on the ds-3025. Could you tell us which box is checked on it?
-
You can check the timelines for an approximative idea on how long it takes.
You'll receive your case(s)'s number with the NoA1 and then you can register on the USCIS site to follow up your case there https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp.

You should find the answers to all your questions in the guides above http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=guides and the example forms http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples
As for the income needed, it all depends on the size of the household.
-
The new form has one page only, you only need to send 1

If you didn't get any RFE and have an interview date, that pretty much means that everything is in order as far as they are concerned, paperwork wise.
Furthermore, if all vaccinations requirements were met, there was no need for the I-693.
Wishing both of you a smooth interview

Hi, I think the visa is void as soon as you enter the USA.
As for your LPR status it depends on how long you have been married when you got the approval, if less than 2 years then you will receive a conditional Green Card good for only 2 years.
Before those 2 years are done you'll have to file to remove conditions in order to obtain a 10 year green card.
For citizenship based on being married to a USC, you have to wait 3 years if I'm not mistaken.

Black and white will be just fine as long as everything is readable

You will find the answers in this guide

Thats good to know, thank you! I haven't gotten my passport updated simply because I don't trust sending all my original copies through the mail to them and they won't let me just do it at the consulate, so I'm going to do it when we make a trip up to Canada. I will make sure I bring my marriage certificate with me for sure! Your husband was not allowed to stay with you? Was he at least allowed in? Mine is driving me and I would hate for him to have to wait outside for an hour if they are going to be slow.
My husband drove me too and came in with me but after the guard checked my papers he said that my husband couldn't stay, that it was for applicants only. This is for Santa Ana's ASC
So he got back to the car which luckily wasn't parked very far, parkmeters all around but they do have their parking but I can't remember the rate. Parkmeters are a quarter for 20 min.
-
I too, had the similar experience. I have not changed my maiden name in my passport so when I went to fingerprint, I was asked to show them my marriage certificate... which I did not have... but the ASC manager said "anything that shows your current name?" then, I remembered that I had my insurance card and my credit card so he let me go with that.
I see, well I can understand that the reasons they are so suspicious is that it's also a identity check but we've been through so many security checks already as it is lol
Thanks Fatima )I am sending you a big e-HUG! You are not alone, Shanh! -
Just came back from my fingerprints appointment, went not as smoothly as I had hoped.
I'm glad I brought my marriage certificate with me.. and that we were there very early as it took 1 hour for me to get out. My husband was not allowed to stay with me.
As I used my married name on the application I was referred to an immigration officer because it was not the same name as on my passport.
She seemed surprised I hadn't changed my passport, with the stress etc it took me awhile to remember than in Belgium you always keep you're maiden name on official papers anyway.
It was a bit hard to communicate, she had a very strong spanish accent, then she finally understood I wanted to get rid of my father's name, she took my papers and came back a few minutes later.
She had put all my given names and my maiden name on my appointment letter.
So now I have middle names even though I didn't use any for all my applications, I hope it won't mess things up.
Why is it so hard to make understand that you don't have a middle name even though you have more than one given name on your passport, Belgium can't be the only country where this happens
-
That's what I thought too until an accountant on another forum told me this :
The bona fide residence test is subjective and harder to prove. The rule says that you have to reside in a foreign country for an uninterrupted period that includes an entire tax year (Jan 1 - Dec 31). Your intentions are part of the deciding factor so leaving the foreign country to come to the US permanently is viewed as abandoning your residence in the foreign country. So now I' confused again, wrote an email to IRS to ask about it but of course no answers yet, I guess I'll have to call them and be prepared to stay on hold for hours on end lol
