Hello VJ'ers!

I would like to ask a question regarding the DCF process on behalf of my friend. He is a US Citizen with a Philippine dual citizenship. He has been living out of the country for more than 10 years now. He was married last year and wants to petition his wife.

From my understanding, in order for them to qualify for the DCF:

1. He needs to re-establish domicile or show intent that he will go back in the United States as soon as the petition is approved? if he can't prove this, the petition will be denied?

2. He can not use his income or assets outside the United States for I-864?

3. If his income can not be used, can his US citizen sister residing here in the US sponsor his wife and sign the I-864?

Are all of these correct?

Looking at my timeline/signature, it does say that I received the Advance Parole document and EAD card. I can probably find the Advance Parole document but I am not sure where i put my EAD card. I don't remember but wouldn't the EAD card be surrendered at the interview/approval of my conditional green card?

I got my oath letter in the mail today and I am scheduled to go on 7/22/2015. Towards the bottom of the first page it says,

You must bring the following with you:

x 1. This letter completely in its entirety…….

x 2. Your permanent resident card.

x 3. All Reentry Permits or Refugee Travel Document in your possession.

x 4. Any other immigration documents in your possession.

x 5. if the citizenship was filed on behalf of a child, bring the child to the ceremony.

_ 6. Other

Ofcourse I have item number 1 and 2. Item number 5 does not apply to me. Item number 3 and 4 I'm not sure what they want. I am not a refugee so i don't have a Refugee Travel Document. What Reentry Permit and any other immigration documents could they possibly want?

I had my interview this morning. I just wanted to share my experience.

I arrived at the USCIS office 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment so I entered the building right after parking my car. It took about 5 minutes to get through security screening. When I got to the interview section, I gave my interview letter to the front desk and was told to sit and wait to be called. After 10 minutes my name was called. The Immigration officer walked me to his office and as soon as we entered the room he told me to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. As soon as we sat down, he put two brown folders on his desk. The cover said "Property of United States Government." The folders stacked together was at least 4 inches high. I don't remember submitting that much paperwork when I applied for my citizenship or green card. Anyway, he opened one folder that had my application for naturalization. He asked around 6-8 questions on the N-400 application and then he asked me to read one sentence, write one sentence, and answer 6 civic questions. When we are not talking, the IO check off stuff in my application or some paperwork or click something in his computer. He then handed me the paper that says "I passed the english test" and "Congratulations." The interview went really smooth and fast. I was back in my car a couple of minutes before my actual interview appointment time.

I did a walk in for my biometrics. Security didn't even ask me why I am walking in. I went in the morning and security told me to come back in the afternoon coz they were busy. I came back after lunch and I was done in less than 30 minutes.

Check the hours of operation of the biometric location and go in about an hour or two before they close. I feel like they are more accommodating when it is not busy anymore.

The G1145 is only for the initial notification that your application has been received. Even people who file that form have to log onto their USCIS account using their receipt number in order to turn on further notifications. You can do the same, since you will have received your NOA a while ago. You should know, however, that the updates aren't very reliable and some people don't get them.

I did my biometrics 2 days ahead of scheduled appointment. I did not submit e-notification form G1145 with my N400 application, this means i will not receive the "in line" thing correct?

This morning around 930 am I went to ASC at Riverside, CA. My original biometrics appointment date is April 15 but I decided to go today and see if i could do a walk in. When i got there, security told me they were very busy. She told me to come back around 3pm and hopefully it wont be busy. At 130 pm i came back and asked her again. She asked for my GC and letter then gave me a clipboard and number. Long story short, i was able to do a walk-in biometrics 2 days ahead of schedule. Does this mean my application overtook hundreds (if not thousands) of other applications? Or the processing time still goes by the application/receipt date?

I guess I'll just take my chances and walk-in a day before my appointment date. The worst thing that can happen anyway is for them to turn me away and tell me to come back on my scheduled day. The only reason I want to do a walk-in is because i have a final exam in school the same day as my biometrics appointment day.

How I wish I could also just walk in on my interview… Lol!

Why was your extension letter expired?

Received 10 year greencard on Dec 28. Please update my timeline. Goodluck guys. Hopefully we get at 100% approvals soon!

This is a late post but it's good news so I decided to post it anyway. I received my Approval letter in the mail last week. Not sure when it arrived in the mail but the Approval letter says my 10yr green card has been approved. The letter was dated 12/21.

I have my GC on me at all times. If I decide I no longer want to carry it around, what should I use as my ID?

P.s. I don't have a DL.

If the only reason you're carrying your GC is for proof of identification... you are carrying a very expensive ID. Have you ever heard of State ID?
