A handful of the migrants shipped off to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis 18 months ago are now legally allowed to work in the US — because they’re considered victims of a crime, their attorney says.
The migrants applied last year for a special type of visa designated for crime victims — known as a U-visa — after they claimed they were duped into boarding charter flights from San Antonio, Texas, to the upmarket liberal enclave in Massachusetts with the false promises of jobs and housing.
At least three of the 49 migrants involved in the flight operation — spearheaded by DeSantis in September 2022 — received “bona fide determinations” for their U-visa applications this week, their immigrant attorney, Rachel Self, told the Boston Globe.

As you are the only person I have come across who thinks a LPR can sponsor a married child I think the onus is on you.

Do they have any issues other than the overstay, presumably they entered as visitors.

My household is 5, possibly 6.  My 19 year old son has moved over with us but was considered an adult of legal age when we left the UK.  So I don't know if his legal adult status will be from the UK or from here.   I take it if he is living and established here at the time of the affidavit of support that we will have to include him in on my household number.   However, my financial requirement is going to be high for even 5 so will need to combine my income with my mum.   Thankfully, she is happy to do that.

The atmosphere is so charged that Columbia officials announced students can attend classes and even possibly take exams virtually starting Monday – the first day of Passover, a major Jewish holiday set to begin in the evening.
