  1. Congrats to both you guys that had interviews. Did either one of you stay in a hotel in Delhi? If so, could you tell me some info?

    H & B

Here is the link for hotels in Delhi. Search for new delhi. I booked mine for 5 days at ITC Maurya and is only 5 minutes by cab from the US Embassy. There is another good one very close the US embassy called diplomat hotel but that is darn expensive. Park hotel in Connaught place and Matropolitan are nice and reasonable too. Hayat Regency is good and 10 minutes by cab from US embassy.

You can book from here. If you book from here then it will be cheaper.

    Hope this will help.

  2. I'm planning on my wife going to the VFS office in Ahmedabad, does anyone think there will be issues with that? Or should I have her go to Mumbai VFS?

Your wife can go to Ahemdabad VFS office. My wife is in fact from Jammu but she is visiting her sister in Shimla at present. Since chandigarh is close to Shimla that's why she went to Chandigarh for her medical and VFS.

  3. Folks my wife went to Chandigarh for her medical and VFS fees on March 4. VFS told her since your interview is on March 31 it is too early to pay the fees. She was told to come back next day. Someone at the Apollo clinic where she has her medical exam told my wife that VFS accepts courier fees between 15 and 3 days prior to the interview date.

Does anyone know about this. Please share your experience and knowledge.

  4. What will the IO write in his judgement when my visa is refused because i told the truth? What all are the possible provissions available for an IO to write while denying a visa?

Is that going to make a difference as to whether you come to the US or not?

Is that going to make a difference as to whether you come to the US or not?

    Good question.

If you are thinking of harrasment from your husband while you are in US forget about that. This great country have great laws. You will get 10 year GC since you have been married for more that two years. Once you are in US you can live seperate from your husband...if you have lot of money or have a good job. It seems you have spent not enough time with you husband. One more try and one last chance will not cost you anything. Just implore your own thoughts and come up with solution.

Cheating with IO will not do any good for you.

  5. The whole of yesterday I could get a hold of anyone to help with this error of the wrong code being assigned to my file.

I should have and LDN case number but have been given an LGS and need to have it rectified asap. :crying::crying::crying:

It kept saying 'the NVC is closed' any tricks to getting to speak to someone?

Try to call them after 7:00 PM easter time. I called them several times and got the rep. every time after 7:00 pm eastern.

    Good luck.

  6. so it turns out that the VFS screwed up by telling us that a third party can submit (on behalf of us) the courier fees and a copy of the passport with proof of submission of documents to NVC. We paid the courier fees on Feb 10, which was precisely within the guidelines that they gave us. They gave us a sticker to put on the passport and stamped the copy of the passport and NVC letter.

On Feb 25, we went for our interview as originally scheduled and found out that VFS had not forwarded any information to the Mumbai Consulate, so they officer behind the counter told us to come back the next day for the interview. We were scared at first, because we didn't know why this happened. Later on, we learned that if you do not visit the VFS office personally it will cause a problem. The consulate expects the applicant to be the person submitting the fees and documents to the VFS. It doesn't make sense for CR1 applicants whose documents have been already submitted, but this is what they want in order for the wheels to be set in motion. Otherwise, the cycle breaks and information does not flow through from VFS to the consulate.

On Feb 26, my wife reported again to the consulate with the new interview letter that they had given her the day before. They immediately took her in and took the fingerprints. An Indian Officer went through our documents and asked a bunch of irrelevant questions. She was asked to take a seat at 7:30 am after completing this and was asked to wait for the final interview call. My wife was finally called in at 10:00 am to a booth manned by an American officer and an Indian translator (they assume that all Gujaratis will need one...). They asked a bunch of questions, but the interview was finished in five minutes and they didn't ask for a single document or photograph for the proof of relationship. Please bear in mind that we both were previously married.

    Questions included:

    1. How did you meet your husband?

    2. Who proposed and when?

    3. What does your husband do for living?

    4. What is your husband's ex-spouse's name?

    5. Did he help her get resident status in the USA?

    6. Did he have children with his first wife?

    7. When did he immigrate to the USA?

    8. After marriage, how often have you guys met?

The last question sealed the deal, when my wife informed them that I had visited her in July 2008 and that I am standing outside the consulate as they spoke. No further questions were asked and my wife was informed that she has been approved for the CR1 visa and she will receive it via the courier in the next few days. Since we had planned to fly out soon, we requested if we can pick up the passport the same day. They affirmed that we can pick it up at VFS between 5 - 6 pm.

On Feb 28, we arrived in New York via Air India's non-stop flight. Long lines in the immigration, but as smooth as it can be. No hassles. Absolutely no questions.

    CJ

    Congratulations and best wishes.
