Obama doesn't have any credibility concerning the immigration issue. His position is self serving for the Democrats and Obama is a partisan Democratic party hack. The only people that buy his bullshit on this issue are the usual illegal alien cheerleaders, the president's sycophants, and his worshipers that still think he is a man-god.

She likes to challenge any word that qualifies a certain type of terrorism and hence control the words used to describe it.
I think if we are honest, we can agree that the people who perpetrate that type of terrorism have a distinct tendency to justify their activities in religious terms, even though those justifications are totally alien to mainstream believers.

sjr09 reacted to pushbrk in Getting married under VWP while K1 is pending???
Correct, however, if there is a denial, there's no appeal when adjusting from VWP. Did the lawyer mention that not only the marriage but also the AOS filing must occur BEFORE your 90 days is up? Did the lawyer address the additional risk resulting from having already declared your immigrant intent with an I-129F petition and letters of intent to marry? Four months into the process, I would just follow through with the K1 if it were me.

"With his re-election campaign launched this month and Latino communities growing increasingly frustrated with his immigration policies, Mr. Obama summoned more than 60 high-profile supporters of the stalled [amnesty bill] to a strategy session, looking for ways to revive it, for votes. You really think obama care about some white girl getting her ####-kicked by some black ho-ho's.

It's a shame, then, that the Democrats have as few good intentions as the Republicans then, isn't it? The Democrats in Congress and the Senate singularly failed (as the Republicans didn't have the votes to affect the outcome, even if they had wanted to) to deliver a healthcare system that will let Granny live out her days in peace and comfort without bankrupting her if things go horribly wrong, because they sold their souls to the insurance lobby anyway.
The problem isn't the Republicans. The problem is Washington. Washington is bought and paid for every two years, the White house every four. Neither side is working for the American people at this point. And, until the American people wise up and realise this, nothing is likely to change.

#@*! Swearing really is a powerful painkiller, study shows

No pain, no gain, right? Actually, your favorite swear word really can help you fight through painful stuff, a new study shows.
By Melissa Dahl
Next time you stub your toe, go ahead and let those four-letter words fly. Cursing actually does help dull our perception of pain, new research suggests.
In the study, researchers from the UK's Keele University asked participants for five words they'd likely use after hitting their thumb with a hammer; the first word listed would be their go-to profanity during the experiment. (They were also asked to list five boring words -- ones they'd use to describe a table.)
Participants were then instructed to submerge their unclenched hand in a container of 41-degree water, and keep it there -- while repeatedly cursing -- for as long as they could. Before and after plunging their hands into the chilly water, their heart rate was recorded. And after they could no longer stand the cold temperature, they were asked to rate the amount of pain they were in, too.
What's surprising is that the researchers had thought that swearing would make the cold water feel much colder, lowering the participants' tolerance for pain and heightening their perception of it. "In fact, the opposite occurred -- people withstood a moderately to strongly painful stimulus for significantly longer if they repeated a swear word rather than a nonswear word," write the team, led by Keele University psychologist Richard Stephens, in the journal Neuroreport.
From the way participants' heart rates accelerated post-swearing, the psychologists believed their fight-or-flight response had been activated -- that may be because cursing can amp up feelings of aggression. (Think of a bunch of rowdy NFL players psyching each other up before a big game.)
Interestingly, women reported feeling less pain after swearing a blue streak. (Hilariously, the researchers report that cussing "did not increase pain tolerance in males with a tendency to catastrophise." That's the polite British way of saying some of the boys were total drama queens.)
Has your own research already proven that a few well-timed swear words can soothe a stubbed toe? Do tell

DId he go down during a pro-Government demonstration?
DId he wither away to nothing from hunger?
DId he have his few cans of pork-n-beans taken from him because he was only armed with his firm beliefs and his faith in humanity?
If it's any comfort if the SHTF... all VJers are welcome to what little stash I have.... but before you get even one cup of rice... you first must admit .. "Government is not the answer"!

Does it really matter what got us here? Regulation, deregulation, shmeregulation.
True, Social Security isn't what got us here, but the surplus in that account
has been spent - poof, gone.
We are f*cked, I hope you understand that, Steven.

sjr09 reacted to Obama 2012 in Preparing for the next collapse
Steven will you step off of your milk box for one damn minute and realize that all of this has been going on for a very very long time.
It wasn't deregulation.
The United States has been in debt since World War II. We haven't been on solid ground since then.
deregulation of the financial markets is part of the symptom for what we have today, but it's hardly the core of it all. Never has been and never will be.
Our problem as a nation, on the government level of things, is that every dollar we get into Washington and most state coffers has to be spent. It burns that proverbial hole into our pockets and we don't know how to stop. The problem being, is we have the power to print our own damn money at will and the debt keeps getting larger and larger until we are at a point now that we have no damn clue on how to get rid of it. Really and honestly we can't.
Social Security and Medicare are a part of the problem because they have failed since their inception for the intent in which they were supposed to be. The money was never intended to be used in the general fund, however that's exactly where it has been and continues to be....
Government has TOO MUCH power and too much control over our very lives and nothing is going to change that in the near future.
