Hi all! It has been a while since I last posted. My dad is adjusting well with his life here in the US and currently petitioning my mom and 2 sisters via F2A visas. Visa status is on AP pending police clearance. Anyways, I am just curious to see who monitors a sponsor's income when all of the petitioned relatives are here? I am a sponsor of my dad and currently a co-sponsor of my mom and 2 sisters. The reason I asked is that, I currently hold 2 full time jobs and is starting to feel the burn out and want to cut back some hours to focus on family since I recently just gave birth. Appreciate any replies. Thank you all!

Nope. You claimed him on the 2014 tax return, so dad is counted in your household.

Dad's household remains at 4. Unless your dad sign an I-864 for your husband or your dad claimed your husband as a tax dependent, then your husband is not a part of dad's household for the I-864.

Your household increases by 1 because you claimed dad on your most recent tax return = 6 = you + your husband + your tax dependent dad + the 3 intending immigrants.

Household for the I-864 is a legal definition. It is not used in the normal everyday sense. Just because related people live in one house, it doesn't mean that they are one household.

For example; 2 brothers and their families share a house. That does not make them one household. There are two households sharing a house.

Unless your dad claims you and your husband on his taxes or the two of you claim him on your taxes, then it's two household sharing a home. Your dad is his own household. You and your husband are a separate household.

Your dad's household = 4 = him + his wife + his two daughters who he is petitioning for

Your household = 5 = you + your husband + the three intending immigrants

Ok. Well, he was unemployed during tax year 2014 so we ended up claiming him that year. Currently, he is employed full time so he doesn't have to include my husband then to his household? Correct?

One is 19 and the other one is 17

You must include your husband in your household in accordance with the I-864 instructions. The petitioner (your parent) does not include your husband in his/her household. Also, What do I write on total income for each tax year? I have a form 1040. Use your W-2s since you are not using your husband's income.

Well, my dad lives with us. So he's petitioning my mom and 2 sisters which makes 3 and its me and my husband. So totals in to 6 because he lives with us? Is that correct?

Hey all!

I'm currently filing out paperwork as a co sponsor for my dads petition to bring my mom and sisters over. I'm stumped with the current income question. I currently work 2 full time jobs. So do I add both hourly salaries? Or do I just copy what's on my w2 and add both numbers?

Also, me and my husband filed jointly in our taxes. But with me working 2 full time jobs, I make over the poverty guidelines alone. Do I need to have my husband fill out a separate I-864a as well because we filed jointly in taxes?

I hope you guys can enlighten me with this dilemma.

@Ian H: so does my dad needs to fill another I-130 for each of my sisters or he can do this when in the NVC stage? Also, if he's going to fill an I-130 for each daughter, does he only pay $420 or $420 each? I'm thinking of sending out the application as soon as i hear from you.

I am not sure if this topic was addressed before but I hope my fellow VJ'ers can help me out. I am a USC and just finished an IR-5 petition for my dad and he's currently living with me. My dad is planning to petition my mom and sisters that are ages 17 and 18. We read here that we can include my sisters as derivatives to my mom's petition to save money in filing an I-130. If this is possible, how do we do this and what forms to fill out and evidence to provide? Will CSPA be able to cover my other sister who is currently 18? And lastly, approximately how long will it take to process this petition?

I'm super mad right now! They rescheduled my dad's interview for July 31st due to inclement weather!! It's 2 more weeks that I have to endure waiting! This sucks big time! Called the embassy today to see of I can get a soonest time for a rescheduled date and all slots are taken! Just plain frustrated.......

I don't think it is if you're an IR 5. It's hard for F visas due to the possible retrogression.

Medical is good for 6months. I think you are still ok for travel as long as visa is not expired.

I would not cancel if I were you. THere are zero open dates at the moment. Unless you somehow you were guaranteed to get an earlier date keep what you have.

You can't reschedule the interview

The interview is scheduled by NVC for immigrant visas, unless you were an expedite. Were you notified of the interview date by NVC?

Unless you actually cancelled the interview date it is still there in July, did you click to an cancel button? Even then I am not sure that it is really cancelled as there was another immigrant visa that tried rescheduling the interview themselves, they showed up at their "new date" and the embassy sent them home and told them to come back on their original interview date.

I don't remember clicking a Cancel button. My dad's interview was set-up by NVC and I was hoping if I could reschedule it to an earlier date.

Hi all! Just found this topic. I was wondering if illing out my info automatically cancels my original appointment? I tried looking for a new date and it said that there's currently no available appointment. Just wanna make sure that I didn't automatically canceled my dad's interview for July. Pls advise

You can leave it blank unless the beneficiary actually lives in a state. With my forms, I printed the barcoded I864 forms and filled them out by hand because my dad's address is pretty long and won't fit the space allocated for address. Hope this helps

What I did with my dad's paperwork, I had him mail me all original documents like BC,MC and police clearances as well as passport photos. After receiving all of them, I included my BC and MC and mailed them all at NVC. Good Luck with your mom's visa journey!

It sounds like it! How long did it took for your documents to be reviewed? They received my packet on 5/9 and I called them last Tuesday and the lady said that I have to wait for at least 30 days for the documents to be reviewed. Congratulations!

When is the best time to call NVC? I haven't heard anything from them and frankly I'm starting to get impatient. I know that reviewing the IV documents take at least 20-30 days, I sent my dad's Qatar PCC last 5/5/14 and was received on 5/9/14.
