The K-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa. Only immigrant visas require vaccinations.
That is right, a fiancee (K) visa is a visitor visa, like a tourist, and tourists are NOT required to have immunizations. They catch you anyway at the AOS, and most people I think realize it is best to get them abroad since it is cheaper. I read the same thing you did, and had my fiancee let them know in Manila that she wanted to get them in the states, and didn't have any problem. I learned here in Visa Journey that she could be exempted if pregnant and since we were planning to have kids right away, so that's exactly what we did. Some people have insurance and want to go to their own doctor here, but I think you still need to have their docs transcribe them to the form. You need to be armed with the facts, and if you want them in the US, they can't say a thing.

What shots does my Fiancee need prior to entering the US from the Philippines and can she get them before the interview portion?
A Fiancee visa does not require the shots but if you don't get them in Manila, you will have to get them here before the AOS. We planned on getting pregnant immediately and so opted not to get any in the Phil's, and when here, she got pregnant within 2 mos. We found a doctor in Texas I think it was (learned of him here in VJ), who wrote her an exemption after we sent all the necessary paperwork to prove she was pregnant, along with whatever previous shot records she had so they could include those. If you choose to get the shots, Manila is the best choice I understand. Bring any shot records you can so you don't need to repeat any shots she's already had. Best wishes to you both!

Yes, got all that covered. We have a US mailing address where we can receive our important mail, and we check it personally at least once a week. Just need some comfort that there isn't some obscure ruling or the like that isn't published anywhere, or at least not on their website. We've scoured both VJ and the USCIS website. This checklist shows only the 3 month prior residence requirement. http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/Citizenship%20&%20Naturalization%20Based%20Resources/A%20Guide%20to%20Naturalization/PDFs/M-480.pdf

That's good to know. I'm sure they will ask if the address given is the current and correct address, but it is only a mailing address as we are not about to rely on a foreign address to receive communication from them. So when they ask, the truth will come out that we currently do not reside in the US, but are still in the local area. We just don't want/need any surprises, like somewhere deep in the fine print, where it says you must be residing physically in the US after filing. We saw nothing in the checklist, nor nothing here in VJ that says you MUST be waiting for your interview on US soil. We've already been told by people that you MUST be residing in the US while waiting but am waiting for someone to show us where it says that.
It would be nice if someone has been in this position could weigh in too. VJ is great for these kinds of things but I take it there aren't many who have been in our position before...
Thanks for the reminder to bring documents! Was thinking they had what they need but they are just copies, so will bring the originals and more.
Thanks for commenting!

All I can find is that you have to be a resident 3 months PRIOR to filing, nothing about afterwards except for change of address. Can anyone show me where it says there are any residency requirement while waiting for interview? Did the biometrics too. Anyone ever have this type of experience, please comment! Thanks!

It is. Look at the bottom left corner.
Thanks
I was just saying that my sheet doesn't specify DS 3025 at the botton left corner and it is specified "for use in canada only"
but the format is the same
I think that whatever they gave you will work fine, as long as it's been completed and shows you have all that's necessary. Don't worry if you don't finish all of the series shots, as long as you've started them. The I-693 which is the newest form I believe, has the same format as well, but you don't need it or anything else as long as the form you Do have shows you are complete. That is the key here.

Here's our predicament:
We are ready to file the AOS, but Andrea and I just realized we are to include a vaccination supplement report. When she got her medical in late May, the doctor never gave her a copy of the report he made. So at the POE, she submitted the sealed envelope and that was that. Currently, Andrea has a vaccination record book that is certified by the World Health Organisation. Can she make a copy of this book (recognized by pretty much every doctor) as proof of her vaccination supplement? If not, what do we do?
Thanks in advance,
Nik
The first question is, did she submit any of her records at the medical exam? K-1 visas are not required to submit to the vaccinations during the medical, which means that you have to do it here in the states if you didn't there. They can just do the Medical and it's up to you later to either show you've met all of the required vaccinations or that you get them then have the I-693 filled out. You have to take her vaccination record that you have and have a Civil Surgeon fill out the Vaccination portion of the I-693. They will tell you if her records show she already has all the required shots or not. We finished ours just last month. It was difficult to find a doctor that understands the K Visa process. VJ was the ultimate source of all our information. We eventually did what we learned from others here which was to send all of her vaccination documents to a Dr. L. E. Arnold in Austin, Texas. She is pregnant and so between that and the records she already had, she didn't need any. At the medical exam, they were supposed to give you a COPY of the DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation Worksheet, whether or not it was finished. My wife got hers, but it only showed she had a VH, Virus History of Chicken Pox. So that was all we had on it anyway. If you call the doc in Austin, they will tell you if they need the DS-3025 or not. They told us to send all we did have and they will sort it out. I suspect it's not really needed if she refused the vaccinations as my wife did at the medical exam, because they know it's ok to have it done here at your further expense. I read on the I-485 that you are supposed to submit a copy of the DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation Worksheet if that's what was given to you when you took the vaccines at the exam, or if not, then there is a new form called the I-693 that a Civil Surgeon would need to fill out here, then he gives you a sealed copy for the I-485 and photo copies for your records. I suggest you compare her shot record with the CDC's vaccine requirements so you will know if she has any she may need in addition to those she already has. Google CDC and keep searching their website for Adult Vaccines required, those are what she will need depending on her age and other factors. Good luck, this was our biggest difficulty in the AOS process also.

So i have my sights set on a an immigration lawyer, i explained my past background problems ( i had consensual sex with a girl under the legal age) this was back in my teens , sadly i have to register as a sex offender now for consensual sex.
1 lawyer will take my case and said he has had people with my same issues in the past, and got them past the rule .
Can anyone recommend a good immigration lawyer that i could talk to? i just want to check prices, the price i am being offered now is very steep.
The lawyer claims to be an ex district attorney , but i want to be smart and explore options so please, if you have any recommendations please do ( i hope its not against the rules to ask, but i would like to know, thanks)
This stuff just makes me mad, you were both young and it was consensual, and now you have to register, meanwhile, my daughter was abused by her step-dad for many years and he only got COUNCILING!
It's so screwed up.

Should the letter of intent to be submitted for the interview be the same as the ones we included in our I-129 F petition?
We tried our best to follow BEST practices, but in this case, we didn't submit one either for the I-129F or the interview. No one along the way has asked for it or commented on it not being there. What we did get a comment on that we didn't have was an employment letter. I just plain forgot it but they let it go.

The first time I met my husband's family, we drove all the way down to Los Angeles to see them. I met my mom in law, my brothers in-law, sister in-law, my brother in-law's wife and all his kids. Although I really appreciate that they were all nice to me, I just can't help but be surprised by the way the kids talk to their parents and my mom in-law. They were so outspoken. They say everything on their mind. Very different from the way Filipino children would behave when they are with older people. We were about to have dinner then at my brother in-law's house and me and my mother in-law were talking while the kids were watching TV in the living room. My mother in-law called one of the kids to sit beside her because she wanted to tell a story and my niece looked at her and said, "No grandma. You already told me about that story many times." And then she looked at me with a warning expression on her face and said, "Grandma likes to tell stories and she's gonna repeat it over and over again until you get tired listening to her." My mother in-law was just smiling at her.
When we were kids, back in the Philippines, we were not allowed to talk that way to older people. We would received beating with the belt afterwards. When I say older people, I don't mean just the adults but older sister and brother (ate and kuya) as well. They get respect too from us. We used the word "Kayo" instead of "ka" and we say "Po" and Opo" for "Sir" and "Yes, sir".
Well, I'm kano and I don't like the way kids are here either. It wasn't like that for me when I was a kid either. I do have such great respect that Filipinos have maintained that high level of respect, just praying it won't go away like it did here.

Just curious to see the age differences as i hear there are some big age gaps...I will start.
I am 32
She is 30.
Age difference 2 years 6 mo.
Dang, heck of a long thread here.
USC 48
Pinay 27
I have 2 kids older than her but she is so sweet I hardly ever think of the age gap except if I'm the one bringing it up, usually due to low self-esteem.
Ok, here's our interesting stats
Her parents
Papa 69
Mama 48
Same age gap as us, 21 yrs and her mom is the same age as me, 48. Another coincidence is my Fiance's birthday is the same as my mother's

We have my fiance’s 2005, 2006 and 2007 tax transcripts, W-2’s, employment letter, and paystubs accompanying the I-134. Will just the W-2 from 2008 work since we don’t have the 2008 tax transcripts?
Those will be fine, but one thing we didn't have and she was asked about was a letter from my employer. I didnt get one but she passed anyway, it may depend on the interviewer. Always better to be safe than sorry or else be calm if you get delayed. Basically you're trying to convince them you are being honest and that the relationship is real

Thanks. We were told that Air21 will only be performing courier service for the US Embassy and no document verification. What company will be doing the document verification now that Delbros has stopped doing that? Does anyone know?
Air 21 just delivers the visa after the interview. It seems to take longer than in the past though when it was Delbros, it has been 6 days since the interview and nothing. I saw another girls dates and it took her 8 days to receive

There is no more document verification, I saw that in another thread and also that's what I was told over the phone to the Embassy. My Fiance just passed her interview this past week without it.

So as you see....the K-1 might actually be quicker and the only possible route because we don't even know where to begin with collecting evidence.
I do not know what else to tell you other than it is not about what is easier...
Does anyone know how she could get military records, school, records, her mothers BC (without the mother's help)???
Yes, you can order a copy of your parents birth certificate since you are an immediate family member. Check this Vital Check.com
Best advice, get a good attorney, can't tell you who though, best ones are in Calif probably, like Girfinkl. Probably expensive, just bite the bullet, but the others are right, it's not about what's fastest, it's about doing what will keep her out of trouble.
We all know how you feel, time spent waiting is like torture if you look at it like that. Best of luck

Hi everyone!
I just want to be sure about the prove about on going relationship and the pictures. My fiance and me were putting all the papers together and he printed in a simple sheet of paper like 3 or 4 of our pictures....that will be ok??? or we need to send them like normal pics?????
Too few pictures may be a red flag so I suggest more than 4, but there is a point where you can overwhelm them also, so there has to be a happy medium somewhere in between. Also, you don't have to give all of what you bring, but at least you have it handy. It's always good to do more than what is expected.
For example, my fiance had a certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) to show that she isn't married somewhere, but she got it way back in April 08. The embassy instructions never said it had to be more recent, but in talking to other people, we found out that they want it to be less than 6 months old, so she just jumped through the necessary hoops and got it, and yes it was needed. We should have gone the extra length and got it even if no one had mentioned it, we were just lucky someone did point that out. Usually VJ comes to the rescue, but in this case, the realization happened at her CFO interview.

i hope you will really be with one woman when you live in our country because i had an american neighbor before and he kept on bringing so many girls in his house when his filipina wife is not around.
Are you really sure he was an American? I say that because ALL white guys are called "Kano" or "Joe" diba? And mostly they are assumed to be American when in fact many times they are British, Australian, German, etc etc. And don't get me wrong, I'm not defending anyone anywhere either way, but Pinoy are the BEST examples of that kind of behavior.

not all or course, but there is a good amount of the population in the phils that wants to come to the usa. Of course they do, for a lot of people the phils is a hard place to make much money. Its pretty much bs though when just about all the girls will say age doesnt matter and blah blah blah just to get a ticket to the usa, and the usa guys are exploiting the women as well. If I had my way, there would be no fiance visas at all. If you want to bring someone here, then go marry them and then file a marriage visa. I have seen and heard so many cases where this didnt work out for one reason or another.
I will say it again, if you meet someone online, go visit them and come back here and sign them up for a fiance
visa, and then wait for them here after only having spent a very brief time with them in real life, you are asking
for trouble. BIG TROUBLE
Hopefully I can get a job teaching english in Cebu or Philippines. Im not going to have as much money as I would like. I am going to go stay there a year and beyond If I can.. If it works out, I will marry a girl that I chat with in October. I just have to wait and see on that.I think you are taking a very high risk if you just go meet in person for a month or even twice and bring a girl to the usa on a fiance visa . just my opinion..
if you want to do it... go there and stay and marry there and take your time...
You don't think moving to a foreign county is taking a risk, especially one that is known for terrorists
Good idea Cebu2Seattle. I wish I had done what you're doing my first time, might have saved a divorce, I didn't know my fiance well enough back then ('89). But I have stayed there twice now since then for extended periods of 8 months each and that is invaluable both to learning about the country and the girl you hope to marry. Problem is, if you aren't rich and can't easily stay there long enough. I quit work both times and consumed my 401K savings in order to stay, then had trouble finding work after going back here. Good luck getting work there, if you do, let me know so I can follow in your footsteps, I would LOVE to live there forever. I love the place (Visayas mostly) and the people. Avoid certain parts of Mindanao, but Cebu is safe. I'm just so thankful this time because I know I found the right one for me. Best wishes bro. Just my little advise here, try to follow/respect the customs/traditions as much as possible, respect them and they will treat you wonderfully, most of the time. Just learn to slow WAY down, be patient, you're running on Pilipino time there. I bet you will have the experience of a lifetime, let us know here how it goes.

does anyone know what the philippine embassy requires as far a vacs and just generally how they operate?
If you are married, you have to take them there, but if it's a fiance visa, you can get them here. Your choice

I heard from a friend of a friend that a girl who recently had her interview in Manila was asked for things that were not listed on her packet. I haven't been able to find out exactly what those things were they needed. Wondering if anyone has experienced like this before?
-
It used to be they sent you the date with your package wasn't it? But I thought I read somewhere that you are supposed to call now for an appointment. Is this true?
Any residency requirements AFTER filing N-400?

Update: When we went to the interview, everything was in place, she passed and then they asked our address. That disqualified her because we weren't in the US. They ADMITTED that they don't publicize it, but the requirement is that you must remain here until AFTER the oath taking ceremony. Had to reapply and this time we waited for the ceremony.
She was sworn in yesterday and so it's now hasta la vista BABY!
