  1. Hello,

I quit working in December of 2006. However, working for a bank I received a commission check in 2007 jan for $930. I called IRS and they said that I did not have to file taxes as I did not earn enough. I understand I have to give this in writing along with my I-864 form. However, IRS does not issue any letter stating so...what would be my best documentation? I printed out the 2007 1040A instructions booklet from the website, and highlighted the parts where it listed minimum income to file taxes would that be sufficient or does anyone have any other suggestions?

  2. Hello All,

In the I-864 form part II where it lists the information on the principal immigrant do i write the mailing address as the present address of the immigrant like the country of residence or the mailing address in the united states which will be the mailing address once the immigrant moves to the US???

    pls help.

    thanks

  3. Just want to clear up some typos:

May I also add that after inquiring to know if they had received the joint sponsor form (about two months after I mailed it) I was notified by email that it had not been received. Then a couple days later, I asked if I could send a copy since the originals had apparently been lost in the mail. They then replied that I needed 'another' joint sponsor which I assume means they did indeed have the original I-864 in the first place. SOUNDS FISHY TO ME!

Again, I am really feeling a lot of frustration. I am willing to pay for a lawyer and take one last shot at it with legal representation this time. Any advice or lawyer contacts would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again.

well if your father lives in the same household as yourself, same domicile address then he should have filed the I-864A not the I-864. And even if you are not working or income is below the required minimum, then you should still file the I-864 as you are the primary sponsor (petitioner)

My father is not in the same household as the address listed on my documents showing domicile. And of course I filed an I-864 for myself also! Again, maybe I wasn't clear. they want a THIRD joint sponsor form after receiving I-864's from both me and my father. We are NOT in the same household.

hmmm then i am not sure why....

Did your father file the I-864 or the I-864A ???

  6. I posted before about an inconsistency in our I-130. It's about my mother's birthplace. I'm thinking we should call NVC to have it corrected. But is there any use doing this when it's already been approved (NOA2)? I went by what's in her BC, but later found out my BC says something different and she says mine is the right one.

Do you suggest I call NVC and have it fixed? We got NOA2 on Jan 28. When should we start calling them to see if they've received the package? Also, how hard is it to get a real person to talk on the line?

I would suggest if your application has been approved, then you rather not worry about it. Unless of course they ask for an RFE which would only be confirmed by the BC. They probably won't compare these things....

You calling them might just raise unneccessary issues which area voidable, maybe someone else can shed more light on this

  7. Hello,

Ok, I am a bit confused. If I am submitting the police certificate along with the I-864 and other documents to the NVC, how will my spouse be able to take the police certificate and other documents with him to the interview??

Secondly do we have to fill out the I0864 or the I-134 for affidavit of support??

    What is the DS156?

    does anyone know??

  8. Hi fellow VJ'rs!

I just to clarrify if we need to attach the DS-3032 form in the email and send it together the DS-3032 templates at Jame's shortcuts? Or we just simply follow the DS-3032 EMAIL TEMPLATE and nore more attachment of form? Pls let me know. replies would be appreciated. God bless

we sent ours just as a regular email no attachments.

  9. Ok another question, so how does it work??

If I use the shortcuts listed on the site, and print the I-1864 and DS-3032 what will i get when i pay the fee bill online and would my printouts from the site then be useless as i would have to use the forms sent by NVC or will i be able to use the forms printed from the net and just attach something from the NVC and submit the papers to save time??

  10. Somebody pls help...

    resposting topic.

per the I-864P poverty guidelines for a household of 4 income requirements are USD26500 for a co-sponsor

as i am not currently working my father will be co sponsoring my husband and his income is USD42000

does his income count entirely towards the sponsorship or is it 1/5th or 1/10th or how does it work??????????????????

i read on the I-864 that a co-sponsors income is 1/5th of the difference

so that would mean 42,000 minus 26,500 which is 15,500 multiply by 5??? so that would mean 77,000+??????

    pls help

  11. Hello,

which original documents should be sent with the Ds-230??

    the birth certificate

original or copy of the divorce certificate for beneficiary?

    original marriage certificate??

    and original police clearance?

    anything else?

and which of these are copies or originals?

  12. Hello.

I am really confused about this poverty guidelines thing.

I will be the main sponsor for my husband however, i am currently living with him in Pakistan, thus i have no income to show.

My father with be the co-sponsor. Per the poverty guideline he should be earning USD 26,500 to be 125% above poverty level as there will be my parents and us as a couple in the household showing a total of 4 people.

Now i also read somewhere that the income of a co-sponsor will only be counted as 1/10th towards the immigrant.

In the instructions for I-864 it says that primary sponsors income will count 1/3rd of the difference towards beneficiary and co-sponsors will be 1/5th.

So now if my father makes USD42,000 would that mean 42,000 minus 26,500 and then the difference or how the hell does it work???

    PLS HELP!

  13. Hey guys...........i just made an account on VisaJourney..........so im kinda new at this

I just checked only Tuesday and my I-130 was approved!!!! YAY!!! Im trying to get my husband here from UAE.........now that my case is goin to NVC i am a little confused can anyone pls answer some questions i have........pls!

-how long does it take for our case to reach NVC???

-How long is the processing time at NVC??

-If we fill out the forms before our case gets to NVC can we send those forms in?? Cuz i heard from someone that NVC send us the packet and we are suppose to fill those and send them in........

-Are we suppose to send original documents as in original birth certificate, marriage certificate.......etc?

-And last but not the least how many previous tax returns do we need?? 1year?? 2years?? 3years??

I would appreciate any help i can get............Thanks alot

-It takes 4-5 working days to reach your case to NVC

-NVC Processing time depends upon you and NVC both but generally they takes 2-3 months to give you interview date.

Better go for Lingche shortcut or james shortcut, you will find all details here. and if don't understand anything post here and everyone is helpful on VJ.

    arun

along with the form 230 what originals need to be sent???

  15. Hello,

I am currently living in Pakistan with my husband and am soon going to send in my I-864. I am currently working in Pakistan for a bank making about $3000 USD for the whole year (but i am paid in the local currency PKR). I wanted to know would I be better off stating on my I-864 that I am working or not working?? I don't make enough to file taxes and thus I have not filed any taxes, not that its been a whole year that I have been working. However which would be a better deal stating that I am working and making this much or stating that I am not working??

The onus is on the USC not the intended immigrant... unless your income is qualified income that is likely to continue after you immigrate then you do not include it. So your current work status is not considered

    thanks much :)

  17. Hello.

I am a USC and i ptetitioned for my husband who is a Pakistani citizen. Both of us are currently living together in Pakistan waiting for the immigration process to complete so we can go back to the US together.

I soon will have to send in the DS-3032 choice of agent form to NVC. I wanted to know if we nominated my father, who is a USC living in the US as the choice of agent so he can forward all the documents to us quicker than choosing our Pakistani address for correspondence, would it be a problem? As my father is not the benficiary or petitioner? but he will be the co sponsor.
