No matter how I feel about someone's situation, I keep my comments to myself, but this time I will not. I have seen several comments with this same statement and sarcasim before. Not one person on VJ would like a response such as "have a safe trip" or WHATEVER. I think it is RUDE and being SARCASTIC, and don't deny it. We all came to VJ for advise and answers, and those that are straightforward in their advise, that's not a problem at all because I prefer straight forwardness rather than beating around the bush answers.

I hope you feel better now that you've voiced your opinion. I have said this in the past and I will say it again......the little blue boxes and hearts make no one a professional. If I had more time in the day I also may have a pretty strip of blue boxes. Seriously, if you've had a hard day at work.....find another way to vent. Furthermore, please don't give the "taxpayer" speech. This entire process and its fees are a complete corruption and robbery from the government.

Im a bit confused, you say you would like to see it made harder but at the end of your post say it was very tough, which it is for all of us going trough it now and longing to be with the people we love.. The only part i really agree with you on is the 90 day should be extended to allow people plan a wedding better.. As for income levels, well i understand it and see why its put in place, but should money really rule over love? Im sure its a lot easier to make a statement such as make it harder when you already have completed the process.

Because laws are enacted through legislation, by elected politicians. And if you generally trust politicians to always create sound and just laws, I've got some prime real estate I'd like to sell you on the moon. The Arizona law (SB1070) has been argued by prominent legal scholars as being in violation of our beloved U.S. Constitution. We don't blindly follow laws simply because they are made into laws. We have it within our American spirit, the sense to look at the merits or laws that are created, as to whether they are just or not.
It was only 40 years ago, that in many states, many Fil-Am couples (racially mixed couples) could not marry legally. And at the time, such laws that restricted racially mixed couples from marrying were popular. It wasn't until the Supreme Court ruled that such state laws were unconstitutional. So keep that in mind when you believe that all laws are good and never should be questioned or challenged. You owe it to yourself, especially being of Filipino decent, to know the history of race relations in this country. I'm willing to bet that you'd have a different outlook on Arizona's law, if your spouse happened to be pulled over while driving and was waiting for her Green Card in the mail. Without any proof that she is here legally, in Arizona she would be detained without bail until immigration would clear her name, which for anyone who has gone through USCIS knows, is not terribly expedient.

I love this law I am all for it. Arizona didn't alter or modify this law. It's a existing federal law that Arizona is just enforcing. People always complain about U.S. immigration laws but has anyone ever looked at the strictness of for example Philippine or Mexican laws? It's unfair!!! I am proud to be am American and I have Filipino heritage but I will always support the United States and fly under the American flag. I will die fighting for my country.

Laws are laws, obey and respect. I would support a iron curtain on our borders. I worked all my life and served my country, I'm proud to be an American. I just can't understand why many races are forming coalitions against this. If you ask me its efffing stupid. If you are here legally then its fine to live the American life but if you are illegal then get the hell out of here and go back to your country. Arizona is a patriotic state by enforcing a federal law.

Why is this even a Topic ? LAWS are LAWS and if you are illegal then get the h e l l out of here, it took alot of time and money to get my fiancee a visa so do things the right way. I can go on and on with this topic and I am sure if I was at a bar debating it with some idiot that is against it that this would turn physical. I just dont understand the mentality of these illegals !!!

    1) I'm expressing what helped in my personal first hand experience.
The customs guy didn't seem like he was going to let me stay the amount of time I planned for,
despite the return ticket. Fortunately I had brought proof of ties, and after volunteering those,
he dated the I-94 as I had hoped and planned for.
    2) Annoyance about being corrected on own my experiences has nothing to with annoyance about being wrong.
I am not wrong about my own experience. I have the best 'proper understanding' of those, since they are my own.
    3) What I stated may not be the whole truth, that doesn't make it wrong. What harm is there in their situation, in bringing additional documentation just to be safe, like when I brought it along.
    4) I never said it would grant some unlimited time-frame or an expiration later than the return ticket. Simply that it wouldn't harm to bring it as an extra tool to get what they're hoping for.
Can you please not be rude, and just appreciate I'm trying to give back from my experiences.

I've been a Single Father since before my youngest daughter's 3rd birthday. Their mother was present (around the edges of their lives so to speak) but never in the role of a parent. Those 10 years of my life would have been a lot easier if I just let her have my daughters and paid her Child Support but that would not have been in my daughters' best interest. Your assumptions that his motives are not the best interest of the child are as bad as assuming that the mother is a bad Mom.
It would be prudent to prevent international travel of the child until a family court decides matters of physical custody.
That I agree with, lock, stock & barrel...

This appears to be yet another case of confusing petition with visa application. For K1 and K2, there is one petition filed, so one petition filing fee but each person desiring a visa pays the visa application fee prior to the interview, currently $131 but soon to be $350.

When I discovered VJ in 2008, I was so ecstatic, because I was days from paying an Attorney specializing in Immigration to do my paperwork. Lateley, I have seen more and more rude, uncaring, condensending, etc. attitudes here. From what I have been reading, it seems to come from mostly those, the Petitioners, who have gotten their fiancee/fiance to the states already, and those are the ones, in my opinion, that seem to be the rudest when posting and thinking they are giving good advice. To me, these posters might as well be calling the ones coming to VJ for help and/or assistance dumbasses because that's what I'm detecting in their tone of voices when posting. It's like they have a damn degree in law and specialized in Immigration matters. I feel these rude posters that have been on VJ a while feel like they are God's gift to VJ. Remember, you are the master of yourself and don't be arrogant when posting. I'm just coming to the defense of those who have been talked down to, and you can tell the person that came here for help felt the same way because they are posting rebuttal comments, as well as others reading their posts, and I quote "there is no need to be rude" as one example, and too, some comments come across as such. You made your bed, now lie in it. There is no need for such comments, and yes, I'm good at reading between the lines for those who make such comments although you're not spelling it out in such a way.
I am thankful though for VJ because it has guided me to where I am now. Married, and about to do the AOS this month.

Your confusion stems from not learning the process including the difference between filing a petition and applying for a visa. This confusion is contributed to by those who carelessly interchange the terms.
Your petition is approved. Now the case goes via NVC to the Consulate, where your fiancee will be invited to apply for a visa. USCIS is "post decision" now because their part in the "visa" process is complete.

First, let me just say that visually the new VJ is quite pleasing, very "web 2.0." Nice job, the hard work shows. The bugs are a little annoying right now (especially reading history not carrying over between computers) but I'm confident they'll be worked out in time.
The reputation system, however, is a terrible, terrible idea. All it's going to do is turn Visa Journey into a less fun version of Mafia Wars. The fact that you can only mod a certain number of posts per day won't stop anybody, but it *will* encourage cliques to mob-mod, as well as encourage sock puppet creation.
Please drop the reputation system. The good that comes from it will be completely overshadowed by the bad.

I've been guilty of some comments that have come over not exactly the way I intended, so let me try to do this a bit more gentle.
You did not provide us with all the important information, so I'm just guessing that you married a US citizen in the United States while visiting here with a B2 or perhaps a student visa. When applying for adjustment of status (AOS), the Immigration Officer (I.O.) has one primary job: finding out if the marriage is legit, meaning if it was entered out of "love" and affection, not because the foreigner would greatly benefit from such marriage by getting a Green Card.
I've walked in your shoes, so I know the walk.
When trying to establish whether or not the marriage is legit, the I.O. has to use common sense and common "standards." What I mean with that is that she would have looked at every angle of your relationship. How you met, how long you knew each other, what you do for a living, whether or not you appear to be compatible, and how you got married. To tell you the truth, it is very unusual for a married couple not to have a single photo of their wedding. Even small weddings have in most cases at least a friend of family member ("best man") present, and getting married is one of the most exciting moments in most people's lives.
I don't know how the I.O. came to the conclusion that your relationship isn't real, but she did. By the way, in your post you didn't mention with a single word how your wife would be affected by you having to leave the country. No offense, but I find that strange as well.
In any case, if somebody is married "for love" and the I.O. tells them that she believes that their marriage is fraudulent and asks them to sign a statement to that effect (signing that the I.O. is correct), I doubt that many people would do that. Had that happened to me I would have said: "you are wrong; I am not signing this statement. I would like to speak with a supervisor, please."
But you didn't. You signed your deportation papers, for reasons only you know. But at this point of your journey, I doubt that there's anything you can do. Even if you were to hire a competent immigration attorney, you'd only have a slim chance that an immigration judge would wipe your signed statement clear as if you never signed it, then overrule the decision of the I.O., and finally approve your AOS case.
