I-94 is in passport...
SS# Here
We were in the same situation. Just have her/him take the I-94 and Passport to the nearest SS Office and complete the SS Application. You may be told she is not in the system as legally entering the US, but do NOT panic. Its just too soon and has not hit the system. The SS Office told my Wife she would receive a letter stating the SS Office was able to verify her legal entry into the US and the SS was on its way.

my i-129f has been aproved what do i need to do next will they send it to NVC or do I need to file i-824? and if so where can i find form n-550?
thanks
Here is a couple of things that can be done, because it's a matter of weeks now that your I-129F has been approved. It will be forwarded to the NVC automatically. Both parties will receive a letter stating the I-129F has been approved from the NVC, and the beneficiary in the Philippines can now, if not already, start gathering the CENOMAR and the Police Clearance. The Beneficiary will also have to have a Medical Exam prior to the Interview, and no appointment is necessary, first come first served, and be prepared for a 2-day ordeal. If you have not done so already, you will need to send the Beneficiary your I-134 with supporting documentation.
Hope this helps a little.

Hi!
We having problem with our tax.
So we decided to get a co-sponsor, is it okay if its my bestfriend? Pls let me know what things needed.
Any responce is highly appreciated. Thanks.
Like stated previously, it's a case-by-case basis, but just this month my Fiancee was interviewed and I used a friend as a co-sponsor. The interviewer never questioned it further, just accepted it.

Don't know what to say, still sinking in, but happy the Petition has been approved.
Good luck to all VJ'ers.

I have been viewing other peoples timelines and I see there was an avergae of about 3 days before the check was cashed, VSC received my packet on th 17th, but still no check cashed. I am in South Korea right now, so I know if I do get a NOA1 it will take a few days to get here in the mail. Im just wondering did anyone else wait this long for them to cash the check? Also, how do I change my address, I leave here and go back stateside in April, and I know my case wont be done by then.
Remember, Monday the 16th was a holiday, Presidents Day, so no business. Rest assured your check will most definitely be cashed by next week. They don't mind taking your money.

This is hard to explain. I was initially going to call the FBI for immigration fraud on the man who is doing the talking and then get my now wife deported.
Yes, I did a big no-no by going into her email...but obviously in the end it was justified.
This is a cut and paste version of the email(i have left the recipients names out as to have them not be contacted only)
the man advising her is her 60+ year old ex-bf, about a month before our wedding right before her visa interview
can charges be pressed on the man for this?????????????
HOW DO I PROTECT MYSELF? Other than sending her packing, her AOS/work permit/travel document should be completed within the month. We married 2 1/2 months ago roughly.
HOW DO I PROTECT MYSELF, 17,500 A YEAR IS NOT CHUMP CHANGE
Honey,
This attorney was the most knowledgeable and experienced one I have spoken to so far. He has twenty years experience and does 3 - 5 cases per year exactly like yours would be. Here is what he told me:
1) As we believed, you must wait for the conditional Green card. Unless there is abuse, all K-1 visa holders who marry their petitioners, then divorce prior to obtaining a conditional green card, would be forced to return to their home country.
2) In Virginia, currently the green card takes approximately five months to obtain.
3) He said traveling outside the USA while waiting for the Green Card and getting Advanced Parole really does not enhance your power, he could not imagine why the other attorney said that. Your likeliness to remain in America depends ENTIRELY on proving the marriage was entered into in good faith and was a genuine marriage.
4) The BEST things you can do while married is to assemble sufficient indications of a genuine marriage, such as: taking his name, living together at the same address, comingling of assets...that is, signing leases together, buying property together, getting insurance together, taking out a joint bank account and credit cards together, having your names jointly on as many accounts and services as you normally would as a married couple in America, having friends and witnesses of your being together, and should difficulties develop between you...even going to a marriage counselor together...all these things show intent to have a normal marriage and to try to keep it going.
The attorney said that Immigration Officials are not stupid, they try hard to prevent fraudulent immigration. They even work together with NexusLexus...a company which can dig up all the pertinent records on your marriage, co-mingling of assets, etc. to prove or disprove a good-faith marriage. Occasionally, though rarely, Officials even make random visits to see if the married couple are living together like married people do.... you need to keep yourself looking something like "the devoted wife" for five or six months, till you get that CARD...then you're on your way to freedom and affluence, my honey! By next Summer you could be filing for your own Unconditional Green Card!
5) After you get the conditional Green Card, you can divorce, your husband cannot prevent you from divorcing him....you can change back to your maiden name, and it is recommended you have your own lawyer representing you in the divorce, AND your immigration attorney working with your divorce lawyer. I will explain this in detail to you....but those two attorneys can even get your estranged husband to sign a statement saying that both of you entered the marriage in good faith. All these corroborating items can and will allow you to remain in America after the early divorce.
Even if you do not remain married for more than six months, if your case shows you married in good faith, you are very likely to be able to stay. Once you divorce, YOU apply yourself for a Waiver of Conditions, or a Form 751,...the same form the both of you would file after two years being married that, if accepted, allows you to get your Non-Conditional (10 year) Green Card. In other words, if you present a believable case that the marriage was sincere, you can get your permanent (10 year) green card, even after only being married six months or so!
You CAN marry again anytime after divorcing ....or you may not .....the Attorney said it does not help you to stay in the USA by remarrying, in fact, he said, you might want to wait a bit...because remarrying (soon after getting your Conditional green card and divorcing) would look a little suspicious... almost like this is what you planned to do from the beginning...obtain a green card fraudulently...and marry the guy you really wanted....
He said you might only feel "the need" to remarry if you were denied the Non-Conditional Green Card and were being sent home after two years here. Then marrying an American here and filing for a K-3 could bring you back to America. He said the K-3 would be the way to go in such a case, as there would be very little chance that Immigration would award you a second K-1 Fiance-type visa after you did not remain married on the first K-1 visa.
6) The Affidavit of Support your petitioner files with your K-1 visa is a promise to support you for TEN YEARS!! That is, EVEN IF YOU DIVORCE HIM, he MUST provide you with at least $17,500 a year for ten years. It is a Federal Law and cannot be removed in a divorce proceeding. Your ex-husband MUST pay you that if you want it, as the government assumes no responsibility for your support for those ten years.
7) ABUSE can be physical, mental, verbal....should your husband be abusive, you need only call the police and/or have witnesses who will corroborate the abuse for your records. Such cases can allow you to get an Unconditional Green card rapidly.....if there is some proof of this.
In Summary, it is all up to you ... if you can build a record of showing you married in good faith and tried to make it work...your chances of remaining in the USA are excellent. This attorney said he always wins such cases if you follow the above advice in building proof of a good-faith marriage. And he can coach along the way. If we have more questions I can call him anytime.
I would love it if you married me, and I wish you would, but it would not necessarily help you in staying here. My love for you is quite unselfish, I care more about your future than my own wishes. I would remain loving you and being your friend and lover regardless of whether we married or not. More than anything, I am hoping you can be patient and endure your marriage long enough to get to stay here...and then get your freedom and your real life going toward wealth and happiness. You carried this jerk for a year....carry him another six to eight months and you will be free and on your way to your dreams...its called postgratification......persevere just a bit more, and be smart and careful...as there is no turning back now. Not marrying him would set you back from freedom more than another year.....better to sacrifice 6 - 8 months than 12 - 14 months. I wish you were marrying me, not him, but you're not...we're stuck with him, so lets make the best of it, my love, we must do what is neccessary for the greater good....
(######, I sound like Obama...)
xoxoxo KISS!
This is disgusting, not to say the least, unethical and a conflict of interest. I hope to never practice along side this bum. If I had the power, I would recommend this bum be dis-barred.

Am I the only person honest who tries not to jump the system?
I was reading the forum about adjustment of status and I found out that many people take advange of the VWP!
I have been several times in the US to visit my boyfriend with the Visa Waiver Program but it never came in my mind to cheat the system getting married and adjusting my status there.
I am suffering now being away from my love but I know this is the right way to do things. I just started my journey and the day I will be again with my love is very far!
As a citizen of a country partecipating at the VWP I am upset for all the people who need a visa to go to the State and us....lucky people...we jump the system. Maybe I should say that I am stupid because I had the opportunity to stay in the US with my love and instead I chose the honest way....
Marrying on the VWP is perfectly legal. Entering on the VWP with the intention to BOTH marry and immigrate is where you break the rules. Marry and go home, no problem. Already here when you decide to marry and stay, no problem. Already married and come to visit then plans and circumstances change and you stay, often OK.
Planning in advance of entry to circumvent immigration law is where people go astray. There are plenty of legitmate uses of the VWP or visitor visas that result in equally legitimate adjustments to LPR status. Before you get angry about others breaking the rules, make sure you KNOW the rules.
I dont think the poster was confused about it push.
Let's face it. Everyone knows its splitting hairs...intent, not intent.
If you come, bags packed...everything "tied up" at home and then try to say you "had no intentions" youre full of it.
I dont think any logical person can disagree there.
I so agree with your comments. Right on the money. These people well know ####### they are doing.

Do not watch this if you are squeamish:

I was wondering IF there's a way to do this without having to buy a printer? I tried to copy, then paste, the text into ALL three of my free-mail accounts. On either Gmail, Hotmail, or YH, NONE of them would transfer the pasted text into the body of an e-mail so I could forward it on to my work e-ddress for printing.
Try pasting in it in Word and attach the Word Document to your email and this should work for you.

hello
My fiance and I were filling out the form I-129F, and we got to the question 14. Address in the United States where your fiancé(e) intends to live., and we were wondering, if we put the address where she lives right now, will the NOA1 and all packages from the USCIS be sent to that address? or will we be able to provide a different address where all packages can be sent to?
She just doesnt want to have it send to her house, but to where she works at!
Thanks
They are asking for the address where the Beneficiary is going to live in the US, and that would be the same address as yours, the Petitioner. You guys do intend on living together I assume.

Hi, I have just joined this website today and am about to submit the forms for my K1 visa this week. I have a quick question regarding copies and certification. Do we have to submit certified copies of everything (passports, birth certificates etc) or are just general uncertified copies acceptable? Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Photo copies are acceptable in this case. If you have ever been divorced, I would of course submit a court certified copy of the decree.

Hi,
Reading the posts I see now that for a I-129F forms now either go to CSC or VCS? Is that correct? I live in Florida, so if I file a I-129F form it will most likely go to Vermont correct? And their processing time is taking a very long time?
Thanks for your answers.
Yes to all of your questions.

Hey I had a question that I'm not sure if you guys would know. I had asked in another discussion but its prolly better to split it off so ppl who might now can see it too. I know my hunny will have to declare the engagement ring when he lands in ottawa, from what I've seen sometimes they make you pay duty and sometimes they dont. The question I have is: Is the duty just the GST and if he does have to pay it, what forms of payment do they accept? (Visa/MC/Check) He was wondering so he could have the right stuff on him.
I agree with Willow2009. I had an engagement ring in my carry-on and was never questioned about it. In fact, they never even looked at or opened it.

Good evening dear VJers!!!
I'm posting my question in this forum because I think this is where I'm going to get best answers.
I was printing some old emails for my coming AOS interview today and noticed that me and my hubby have used much more informal laguage then I expected. I'm not a shy person but some words should really be mucked if we let other people read, especially some seriuos immigration officer. I know many of you use emails as a prove of ongoing relationship for the interview at the consulate/embassy and I'm sure your emails were not very formal either. So, what should I do? Just take black marker and muck some single words so meaning stays. Or there are other way to deal with this???
Thank you.
I've commented on a post similar to yours before. My emails and chats are very graphic at times and what I've done is blacked out words I was not comfortable with someone else reading. If you have ample emails or chats msgs so that you may just exclude the ones you don't want to send that can be an option as well.

Subject: THREE WOMEN IN A SAUNA
THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER, AND ONE SENIOR CITIZEN, WERE SITTING NAKED IN A
SAUNA. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND
THE BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. 'THAT WAS MY
PAGER,' SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM.
A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO
HER EAR. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, 'THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE
A MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.'
THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW-TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE HAD TO
DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO
THE BATHROOM. SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR
END.
THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER.
THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID.........WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT....I'M
GETTING A FAX!!
I'm still laughing.

Ok so we are scrambling to get vaccinations in time for our AOS interview. We got all except one for free at a community hospital.
The last one is the Human Pappilomavirus vaccination which was evidently added to the list by the CDC in May 2008. The USCIS civil surgeon says it is $170.
Is this right???
I feel that the HPV should be a womans personal decision. Government has no right requiring this as a condition of AOS or any other status for that matter.

Slightly on the same topic....did anyone watch the segment on 60 Minutes last night about drunk driving convictions? Prosecutors are now seeking murder charges...not just homicide.
And it's about damn time. I've witnessed first hand in our good old court system these bums receive a slap on the wrist, fined and just turned loose even after previous mulitple drunk driving episodes.

what does Status Candidates mean ? does it mean he can apply with his 2 yr conditional green card ? I may be asking something really silly. But we just wanted to be sure. Thanks
A Status candidate is a person who has completed the probationary period under the career-conditional employment system, also known as an employee with competitive status.
Competitive status is a person's basic eligibility for assignment (e.g., by transfer, promotion, reassignment, demotion, or reinstatement) to a position in the competitive service without having to compete with members of the general public in an open competitive examination. When a vacancy announcement indicates that status candidates are eligible to apply, career employees and career-conditional employees who have served at least 90 days after competitive appointment may apply. Once acquired, status belongs to the individual, not to a position.

I had a question about my parents being a co sponsor. They file there taxes jointly. With that said I have been told that both need to fill out the form. So do they both fill one out.....Looking at the form it really does not look like its made for two people to sign...thanks for any help....
Yes. Each person willing to become a sponsor has to fill out an individual I-134.

Hello, guys! I`m done printing all my DS Forms online few days ago but just now I have read in the website that they are requiring for ink jet or laser printer. My DS Forms (DS 156)looks good as I filled it out online. I was just wondering if the bar code of page #3 under filtered names was really blurred or it is cause by my printer , quite curious about it. Which bar code they will scan ? is it on the page 1 or in the page 3 of DS 156.
Lastly, is it okay if I used Epson printer? even they require ink jet or laser printer? Will USEM accept it during my interview?
Hoping for any replies. Thank you and God bless!
Ink jet and Laser printers produce a nearly flawless printed document. Barcode scanners are sometimes very pick when attempting to scan the barcode itself, so whatever you do after printing your document try not to wrinkle or damage the page in any way. Their scanner MUST be able to read the barcord. I believe the barcode just contains the info included in your document. If you Epson is a laser or ink jet you should be ok.

Hello,
It is sad that some people are trying to use this forum to sample the view of people about those united states citizens that marry to Nigerians. pls i am using this meduim to inform my hononorable member that this site have been of great help to many people in all worth of life. so please let anybody decided whatever he or she want to do about there marital decision. Nigeria is a very good country with alot of potenciality so we are not only know for scammed and many other fraudlent act. pls people should be mindful of whatever they will be saying about fatherland,i am a Nigerian and i am proud of my country so member should be mindful of using a bad word for my country and i will implore my fellow Nigerians to let us stand up and correct the bad impression about my country. We have the bad, good and ugly citizen everywhere in the world.
Well said and I agree with your comments. There's unmentionable acts in all parts of the world. One thing that many people refuse to talk about is the US itself. I have never know any other country, except the US that runs so many scams on it own citizens and let alone oppress or have oppressed every race under the sun.

Just wondering.
I cant get a California ID without a SSN
can i get a SSN when i get my EAD?
If someone told you that, they are mistaken. I live there 37 years and have had several ID and DL's at the same time. California is one place that will allow a person to hold and ID and DL at the same time. I never had to show a SSN when applying for an ID.

I was reading some of my Yahoo messenger archived chats with my significant other.....and I must say.....its a little raunchy at times.... ........do you guys think they actually read the messages? Lu is a little embarrassed to have them read during her interview but I told her it represents how we truly feel about each other and its proof of our love for one another......I dont have a problem with it......but I just want her to be comfortable when she has her interview........any thoughts?
I can relate to your circumstances. If you choose to send them, you can simply blot out the parts you wish not to be read or if you have an ample amount of other IM's to exclude what you don't want to send then it should not be a problem.
divorcing US citizen
in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
Posted
Too, you must realize, your husband is on the hook as far as financial support as far as the USCIS is concerned. The Affidavit of Support that he signed, means just that, and divorce does not cancel the fact of that support.
