  1. You don't need the letter from the embassy to take the advance medical. To take your advance medical, all you need is a copy of the NOA2 and you must know the Manila case number. If you search the region specific Philippine forum, you will see NUMEROUS posts on this topic. Many people have gone through the entire system (medical and interview) without ever receiving their embassy letter. Once you know the embassy has received your packet from NVC (you do this by calling NVC and asking them when the packet was shipped to the embassy), then you can begin calling the embassy (about a week after shipping date) to schedual your interview. If they have your packet from NVC and it is in their system, they will schedual you a date which will likely be about 30-45 days ahead. You need to have the medical done at least one week prior to your interview. If you read the Manila embassy website, it says that you can expect your letter of appointment in 3-5 months!! That's why many VJ'rs have made their own tracks and picked up the phone.

    Good luck!

Now that I read your post, I guess that's what I meant the NOA2.

  2. I'm kinda new at this but, from what I've been reading on this forum, your Fiance needs to have the interview invitation letter in hand when she shows up for the medical. However, it is from my experience that you guys should schedule the appointment with medical examiner ASAP. In Saigon they are all backed up about 3 weeks to a month.

I'm in that situation now. My fiance just went to get an appointment for her medical and they said the earliest they can see her is March 24th, but her interview is March 16th. The medical facility (IOM) said that she can just show up for the interview with the medical appointment letter and then do the medical after. I hope they're are right.

I have never heard of someone being allowed to interview without the medical first. Are you sure? It would be sad to be turned away at your interview because you were misguided.

  3. hello we was approved for the k1 visa at the vermont service center on FEB 25th.. i have the NOA2 reciept, got it in the mail yesterday. i called NVC and they received our petetion and gave me the case number.. it hasn't been sent to manila yet.. and i havnt recieved in the mail a letter from NVC yet.

my question is since i have the hard copy of the NOA2 but not a copy of the letter from NVC yet.. but i know the case number.. can she go ahead and get an medical done? or do we have to have also the paper from NVC?

It took my wife 9 days to receive her letter from the USEM. Wait for the letter.

Its best to wait until she receives the official letter from the Embassy in Manila. It will say something to the effect "your case is scheduled for a visa interview, etc.,etc." She can then use that letter and show them at St. Lukes. That is what my wife did.

  5. Hi, my husband wears a prosthesis on his right arm. He lost his hand above his wrist in a childhood accident. One of the questions on the I-485 asks whether you are requesting accommodation for a disability - but accommodation for what? For filling out the application, or for your general life in the U.S.? He is totally functional, fully employable (in fields that don't require full use of both arms, so construction is out, for example), and doesn't *need* accommodation. But if we check that he's not asking for it, does that mean he's waiving any rights he *might* be entitled to as a disabled resident? I'm just not sure what the implications are for responding one way or another to this question.

And let me sneak a quick G-325A question in here: his employment history doesn't all fit in the space provided. There's one job we can't fit on there, and without it his history doesn't go back 5 years. Can I write "see attached" and include another sheet of paper with the full employment history?

    Thanks,

I think they are asking if you need special accommodations when visiting any of the USCIS's offices, such as someone in a wheel chair. The USCIS just wants all people treated fairly, disability or not. He's not waiving any rights.

  6. Is it ok for me to complete the g-325a form for my fiancee, email it to her to print and sign. Then she scans it and sends it back to me via email and I print it out?

Since it says on the cover letter and form fc-029 that photo copies are acceptable.

I never used the original for my wife. In fact, I completed as much of the form as I could here in the US then emailed it to her for her siginature and she emailed it back to me and nothing was ever said about it. So, in my opinion it does not have to be an original.

  7. hi mari jo,

i read this in a post last night so it's quite contradicting and it confuses me even more...

Q: Why are K non-immigrant visa holders asked to include a vaccination supplement when filing Form I-485 to adjust status?

Some countries allow K non-immigrant visa applicants to defer their vaccinations until after they arrive in the U.S. If the beneficiary's vaccinations were not completed as part of the visa process, it is necessary to include form I-693- part 1, part 2-vaccination section, and part 5 in the application.

If the beneficiary's vaccinations were COMPLETED as part of the visa process, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO INCLUDE FORM I-693 IN THE AOS SUBMISSION. All your medical information is enclosed in the brown envelope which was handed in at the POE. The envelope is then forwarded on to USCIS where it will be consolidated with the I-485 submission, once received. If you received a copy of the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025) from your Panel Physician, you may include a copy of that form in your AOS submission in place of Form I-693.

Q: Do I need to complete another full medical to adjust status?

Per Section 1245.5 in the Code of Federal Regulations, a medical examination shall not be required of an applicant for adjustment of status who entered the United States as a non-immigrant spouse, fiancée, or fiancée of a United States citizen or the child of such an alien as defined in section 101(a)(15)(K) of the Act and §214.2(k) of 8 CFR chapter I if the applicant was medically examined prior to, and as a condition of, the issuance of the non-immigrant visa; provided that the medical examination occurred not more than 1 year prior to the date of application for adjustment of status.

please help me out here....thanks =)

One of the problems is, when attempting to have the vaccinations transcribed onto the I-693, a lot of CS will NOT do it and they know very damn well jam the person attempting the AOS is in. They, the CS, wants to do the full medical again no matter what the instructions say about having a medical less than a year ago. One wanted $415 for a medical near my home 5 miles away even after she lied on the phone and said she would do just the transcription for $125 if thats all I needed, but when I arrived at her office, it was a bait and switch, and she would not do it. So I found another 50 miles from me, just today, and had my wife just do a complete medical again for $165. These CS need to be closely scrutinized by the USCIS since they are having people go to them only.

  8. Please, read through my list and let me know if I'm missing something or if I need to add something. This is my package for AOS.

    • Payment in the amount of $1010.00

    • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

    • Copy of Passport (Biographical Page and Entry Stamp)

-Copy of I-797, Notice of Action

    • Copy of Form I-94

    • Copy of my Birth Certificate

    • 2 Photographs with name on back

    • Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate

    • Form G-325A, Biographic Information

    • Medical Form l-693 (in sealed envelope by the Civil Surgeon)

    • 1-864 Affidavit of Support

    - Federal Income Tax Return for the past three years, including W2

    - Copy of Pay Stubs from past 6 months

    • Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization

    Thank you!!

Why not include Form I-131 in case your Beneficiary has to travel outside the US while in the AOS process? Something to ponder.

  9. I am not sure if I need the I-693.

When I did my medical examination, I got all the vaccines and the doctor game a sealed envelope saying that I would need that for adjustment of status.

The envelope has a stamp that says:

"DO NOT OPEN THIS ENVELOPE - It contains a copy or your medical examination.

Please provide it to USCIS when requested in conjunction with your adjustment of Status"

Do I still need to submit the I-693.

In order to plan in advance I called the Doctor to make an appointment for the day after I arrived, and They asked 200$ just to fill it out, and if I need vaccines 350$. Is this normal? I was reading the master tread and it says that it cost like 50 to 60$.

    Please advise.

    Thank you./

By the amount you stated, it seems like you are being charged the price of a full medical. Now I truly understand why people on VJ are so outraged. These Civil Surgeons, some of them, are just ignoring the instructions if the medical has been less than one year under certain visa's, then another medical is NOT required. I wish these Civil Surgeons were monitoried by USCIS, not just appointed or whatever. The one close to me, wants us to pay $415 for a full medical, but over the phone she said she would do the transcription only of the vaccinations over the phone days before we went to see her if thats all we need. Classic bait and switch one I got to her office. I will be driving 50 miles to another Civil Surgeon that will do a full medical for $165 and she even said if I wanted just the transcription of the Vaccinations, she would charge $10.00. I am LIVID to say the least at the one near me. Yes, you still need to submit a I-693 by all means.

  10. ok I am getting the ticket tomorrow though expedia....I know she will need the e ticket but I have read (I think) that she will need a copy of the credit card and my ID ...is that true????? Expedia and hawaiin air lines are the same exact price should I just call hawaiin and do it through them?

Not necessary to provide those items unless you want to for peace of mind. I did in my wife's case, but she was never asked for them, just the eticket and her ID of course.

  11. Hello all,

Just curious if any of you have found that your SO has some rather strange superstitions?

My Sweetie is from a small town in Belarus and she has aquired some pretty funny ones.

    1. I cut my own hair at "Le Garage Salon" and one day when I was throwing the clippings out in the yard Sveta comes running and askes "what you do!!!?" She says if the birds get my hair I will have headaches.

    2. Sitting one evening and munching some cookies in front of the TV when done I start to eat the crumbs from the plate and again I get a slap on the hand and asked "what you do?" I guess that by eating the crumbs from the plate I will always be poor. She ate her cookies over her cup of tea. I told her she is eating her crumbs as well from the cup but of course thats different;)

    3. Im not supposed to show how someone else has been hurt on my own body like saying "my friend broke his arm" and then point to my arm and say "crack", I get the slap on the hand and "what you do" plus she says some sort of prayer and then the sign of the cross to undo the harm Ive done:)

There are quite a few others but these are the few that come to mind first.

Oh, how interesting it is this mix of cultures at our house;)

Not my SO, but I remember my Mom believing in Number 1. LOL

  12. Dear all,

I found this below and I am sure this may be a usefull info for those like me are about to send the forms:

In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:

    *

Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.

    *

Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.

    *

The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.

    *

Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips

ps: I also found that you have to date and sign ANY sheet of yr supplements attached..

This info is found on VJ. This is where I got my ideas from last year.

  13. It says on the uscis.gov website that

Although USCIS does not charge a fee for this form, the Department of State does charge a fee of $70 when the Affidavit of Support is reviewed domestically. This does not apply when the Affidavit of Support is filed abroad. For more information, please see the Department of State, Affidavit of Support Review Fee, in the Related Links of this page.

How do I pay for this? Do I pay with the $1,010 for the AOS making it $1,080 or is it included with the $1,010? I am sort of lost of how to pay?

The Biometrics fee is included in the $1,010.

  14. Hi All,

I had my AOS interview on February 4th and think/hope that everything went well; however, we did not get a definite yes from the IO. He mentioned that he had to get his supervisor to sign off on it. So, that is all good, but the problem is that I am leaving the country next week Wednesday for a family wedding for 2 weeks. I have not received my approval e-mail yet. i am hoping it will come in today or tomorrow so I can make an infopass appointment and get my passport stamped.

    My questions:

If I do not get an approval notice in the next day or so, can I still travel on my AP since the AOS is still pending? I asked the IO and he said "sure" but he didn't seem to clued up on most thing as I had to tell him about me making an infopass appointment and the I-551 stamp.

Should I go ahead and make the infopass appointment now since Monday is a holiday and the appointment will have to be on Wednesday? I can cancel the appointment if I don't get approval notice before then?

Thanks everyone. This forum has definitely kept me sane up till now!!!

Honestly, I would NOT try traveling outside of the US without that in my hand. Once you are outside of the US they don't have to allow you reentry without that document. Who's to say that a CBP would believe you when you tell them your approval is in the works.

  15. I would typically use the USPS and that would cost around $13.00 and take around 5-7 days. If you would prefer what I used to do, I would use Microsoft Office Live Workspace. It allows one to store up to 5GB of information, and the other person does not even need to have Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, etc on their PC, and too these documents can be PDF's. You just simply upload the documents you wish the other person to have and they can print, download and even make changes, with you authorization of course to any document you upload. Once you do that you send the person an invitation via email and let them know the password that you have assigned to access the uploaded documents. Its like the other person having access to your hard drive.

  16. Hi I am done with my medical today and thank god I am passed,Actually its my second time had a medical at St.lukes, It's expire and I need to get a new one as Embassy Instructed to me. My concern is last 2008 is my previous medical and after 2 days of my medical they only given me Vaccination copy. But today I had a Vaccination record and my Xray CD. well I saw all the Applicant was gave there Xray so I am sure that it was not only me who handed it now? Where will I give my CD xray at POE or when I adjust my status.. ?

Keep as Souvenier. My Wife still has hers.

  17. IS THAT SO? cuz my mom completed form I864A (contract bet. sponsor and household member), then she sent her 2008 tax transcript. my fiance completed I134 and sent his ITR for 2006-2008

To clarify things the I-134, Affidavit of Support, is to be used in the beneficiaries home country, including a co-sponsors I-134, to show the beneficiary will not become a public charge. The I-864, Affidavit of Support, is used once the beneficiary has arrived in the US and is applying for AOS.

  18. hi everyone. my interview will be on feb 8, 2010. my question is about the evidence of support. We sent the I134 and I864A (for co sponsor) to the USCIS along with the I129 F paperworks. Now, i only have the copy of those forms. would that be enough? or fine to the embasy if i only bring copies of those forms? cuz im thinking USCIS will forward the I129F paperwork to them, right?

One more thing, about income tax returns. I only have their ITR for year 2008. Would that be enough? cuz i read that we only need to bring their ITR for the recent year. just 1 year. Please help VJ.

    Thanks.

Actually, you should have sent the Affidavit of Support to your Beneficiary in the Philippines because they will need to show that at the time of their appointment at the USEM, and too, don't know where you got info on 1 year ITR. It's best to send at least the past three years of ITR. They would like to see an establised level of income or capability. Then again I don't know if the USEM will open the forwarded package and retrieve the Affidavit of Support.

  19. Hello everyone!!

My fiance and I found ourselves in quite a pickle today!

My fiance just arrived one week ago on a K-1 visa, and we were heading to NY state today (we live in New Hampshire), to get our marriage license to be married in two weeks in NYC. Whilst in the process for applying for the marriage license, we were informed that NY state requires both parties to have a social security number in order to recieve the license. As we are getting married in two weeks, we ran to the local social security office to find out that they will not issue my fiance a ssn unless he has proof of employment authorization. But, we cannot obtain this until after we are married and filed for the AOS. This seems like a lose, lose situation but there must be something that covers K-1 visas!

Any suggestions? Comments? Knowledge?!? Please! We are to be married in two weeks from today!

Thank you everyone for all your time and help!! Anything would be helpful right now...

    Cheers!!

Yes, you were misled. I had my wife apply three days after her arrival and she too was not in the SAVE system either, but she was still allowed to apply and we walked out with a letter stating that her SS Card would be on its way as the Rep would be checking the system later that day after we left the office. We got a second letter in the mail two days later that her legal entry had been verified and the SS Card is on the way. All we used was her I-94 and valid Passport, which is all you should have to provide.

  20. Hello guys!

Ok, I am under K1 visa when i entered the US, we filed AOS last Nov.2009, we took a risk by sending my DS-3025 form instead of I-693 and because of that we got an RFE(!) last Dec.2009

We only 87 days to comply with the missing documents,so now we are gathering informations regarding of this thing.

    I have few questions

    1. I had my medical exam back in the Philippines last April 28,2009

if i understood it correct,i do not have to repeat my medical exam because the exam i had back

in the Philippines is still valid, am i right?

    2. When i went to have my medical exam back in Phils.,the doctor gave me 2 shots of vaccines.

THEN i was told to have another shots of each when i get here in the US but i was not told when.

    (1.HPV and 2.Tdap)

I also learned that HPV is no more required, so i only need to take care of is Tdap if i have to,my concern is do you

think the surgeon is the one who will give me the shots or do we need to get it somewhere else?

I am on my husband's med.insurance, but the name he put in there is under my married name, now i do not an ID

under my married name,is a copy of marriage contract will cover?

    2. I checked the surgeon locator at the USCIS and the nearest surgeon we found is the one from Hickory NC.

Does anyone of you went to this doctor? or knows how much does he charge?

or how much does your surgeon charged you for the transcription?

i am just collecting info so to have an idea how much the rate they usually charges.

I hope you guys can help me by providing informations and sharing your experiences.

Thanks and have a good day.

    John and Louella

Just to mention these CS are not regulated by the USCIS and they are getting away with murder. They very well know that beneficiaries that had the medical less than a year ago are not required to have another medical and I am seeing this all over VJ that people are running into this issue, and most will not do the transcription without giving a full medical. They just want to make money and are totally ignoring the instructions stating another medical is not needed. These medicals having been running into the hundreds of dollars.

  21. hey guys, this might sound a dumb question but i really dont know the answer and im lost as hell..im doing my part for the letter of intent to marry..im the petitioner..what do i need to put down on the EMBASSY ADDRESS part..do i leave it blank because that part is for my fiance or there is an actual address for it..help guys..thanks much..

Here's a copy of what exactly I did, minus my home address:
