The marriage certificate really isn't required. I didn't send one, like 99% of the people who file. I think Val just got someone who didn't know what they were doing. I wouldn't assume you are getting an RFE kimbear!

I had been starting to look into the POE and then head back up and finish everything up here thing (before I got my NOID) and it seemed like a big technical quagmire if it was too long of a delay.
First the health care mess because I had looked and saw that they only cover until the end of the month that you leave Canada. If you are a LPR of the US how can you say you are a resident of Canada still? What date do you use for your Canadian exit taxes & US tax returns. It should be your POE but if your working, living and claiming Canadian Health Care for months then it should be the actual date that you leave Canada to go live. Then if you do that, are you screwing with your chances of Removing Conditions and Citizenship because it should be the POE date instead.
I have read somewhere that the different government departments are going to have greater access to CBSA records of arrival and departure. I know they already check in-country EI claims against CBSA records and I think I read that some other departments are going to be looking at them more closely for fraud investigations.
Anyways, I had decided that it was going to be too much of a headache to try and figure everything out and make sure it was all completely above board and was going to just POE when we were ready to cross for good.

Please understand that domicile can be achieved by having a place set up before moving. The US citizen does not have to be within the US for a visa to be issued. They must prove domicile. This is a broader concept than living within the US.
If the USC can show that they have a rental agreement set up before the move, a job offer (assuming that they already meeting the sponsorship requirements some other way), etc., this proves domicile.
Mind you the Affidavit of Support requires they have a job (not merely a job offer) to support you if you don't meet eligibility criteria based on assets.

I don't think they really care where the check comes from. A staffer will open your packet and pull the check out, then put it in a pile for review. The person who adjudicates your case wont ever see the check. I wouldn't worry!

Keno and I are starting to slowly prepare all the documentation we are going to need to submit our I-129F. We want to take our time with the whole process to make sure every 'i' is dotted and every 't' is crossed. Being one of the first same-sex bi-national couples to immigrate to the US on a K-1 visa on the heels of a potential victory in the Supreme Court on June 27th means we don't want anything to go wrong on our end.
While we cannot file our I-129F until DOMA is repealed, we want to be ready the instant it is to submit our paperwork because it is such a time-consuming process.
Keno is currently securing his passport quality photos which he will include in his packet of info (G-325a, statement of intent to marry) that he will send to me in late January. He should have them within the week.

You just keep going off on an a tangent stating the obvious. No one ever claimed that non-citizens are eligible for passports. Again, that was not the question. From the original post they are asking about certificate of citizenship. This is for an individual to document U.S. citizenship status based on citizen parentage. It is convenient to have this as you would not have to rely on your parents naturalization certificate in the future. If the child is under 18 and a permanent resident, they would be considered a citizen if their parent is naturalized (Child Citizenship Act of 2000)
If it 'sounds' like the daughter is a citizen of Peru, so what? That has no bearing on whether the daughter is considered a citizen according to US law. Incidentally Peru allows dual citizenship so this is likewise a non-issue. Lastly, you continue to state the obvious about birthright citizenship. What is your point? If you leave, you can't get back in unless you want to start over again. I hope your stuff isn't that important, because you won't be able to get it until you get married, apply for AOS and then wait about 3 months. Unless someone can go get it for you.

Do you have any evidence of this? Why would an IO look down on someone who followed proper procedures to give up their GC when they were not living in the US instead of doing what many try to do and game the system in hopes of keeping their card when they aren't really living here? On the contrary, it shows they DO value the rules and process and aren't attempting to get the benefits of being an LPR while living abroad.
Immigration is a luxury and not a right but there is nothing weird or suspicious about turning in a GC because you don't live in the US and re-applying when you plan to move back.

Work on your credit. You can go to rent a center: buy a TV, dish washer, laundry machines, bed: put in both your names. Phontos: if you could date it with your camera will be awesome. Buy AAA membership for 2 years in both names. Zoo membership in both names also will be good.

B ) In answer to your question, yes. The receipt notice (NOA1) you receive in the mail after you file your I-751 DOES allow you to work and travel. Just keep it on your person with your green card, and show it with your expired green card anytime you would normally show your green card to somebody.
And yes, the I-751 process takes much longer than 90 days. Much, MUCH longer if you have to file at the Vermont Service Center. So you're going to be carrying that receipt notice around for quite a while.

Flames has it right. You must have the intention of returning to Canada. And, if you've lived in the US for 5 years or more you cannot vote in Canada even if you intend to return soon.

We pulled this off in 2009. We knew it was risky but we took a chance. Worse case scenario, you move the date and lose your deposits. Risk it or don't, its up to you and what you're comfortable with.
What part of Canada is your fiancee in? If she is in the west she will interview in Vancouver, which is very quick. But if she is east of Manitoba she will have her interview in Montreal. Montreal can be painfully slow depending on the time of the year and how busy they are... you may end up waiting 3 months for an interview date. So definitely watch time lines to give you an idea. If you wont make the date you will likely know months in advance.

You must have filled AOS or you wouldn't have a green card. You mean ROC perhaps? But yes, if you move back to Canada you will lose your GC and if you and your husband ever want to come back to the US you will need to start all over again.
