  1. lucie,

  2. congrat for your AOS!!!

    About impot:

    A suivre !

Any luck with the phone call? I sent them an email a week ago and still no answers... :(

btw, my AOS was approved last Friday, without an interview!

  3. Did I mention I didn't get an interview for the AOS?

About my job/internship I do some research for a consulting company involved in international development. I work in English but have to read a lot in French too since part of my work is about Senegal. It finishes end of June and then I really don't know what I'll do. But for now I'm just really glad I found something.

for the AP I also received 2 copies, that lady who asked for 3 didn't know her job.

well, bon week end à tous!!

  4. I received my permanent resident card just a week after my EAD! that's less than 3 month after I sent my AOS.

I have to admit this is pretty quick!!!

So I actually never got to use the EAD.

Back a month ago I had to carry my passport around cause I had no other ID and now I have 3 vadid US ID in my purse: amazing!

I hope everything is well with all of you,

  5. hi,

I received my EAD and AP last week eventhough I had never been able to track my case online. the only case the uscis website have is my AOS. Everytime I've tried to enter my EAD and AP case numbers it would say these cases don't exist. I also called and the answer was the same...

It was anoying cause I had no idea if something was wrong or not! But eventually I got EAD even earlier than I initially thought :)

good luck with tracking your case!

  6. hello all,

I received my employment autorization and my advance parole last week!

I start a part time paid internship on Friday:) I applied late february and they contacted me mid March. They wanted someone starting in April. I told them I was waiting for my work autorization that should come mid April. I got the EAD on time so everything is ok!

Also I got my driving license last Thursday (I had a learner's that past month). We bought a car so now I can move around easily (well as much as the insane DC metro area traffic allows me to)!

Jeff did Melody went to the embassy? does she have her interview apointement already? Things are moving on for you it's great! we should celebrate with happy hours drink in DC when she eventually arrives :)

RosaMystica I'm sorry to hear it didn't work. I hope you're moving on and doing ok.

    à plus,

  7. Not by the social security.

I didn't have a private insurance in France back then so I don't about that.

    have a good day!

    Lili&Kai :star:

yes, hang in there Jeff melody, hoping they will answer to you.

and i have a querstion for th eone who had the medical appointement (160€ that includes the visit and the X-ray). Is that covered by Social security and the private insurance?

  8. Hi Jeff,

Welcome on this thread. it has been the best one for me on VJ so far :)

As I told you by pm they contacted me by phone something like 5 days after I sent them a fax.

I also heard of a US citizen who managed to get them on the phone. I think no answer after 3 fax is a good reason for you to insist on that one.

In any case don't try to call the number that they charge you 15 euros for. I tried when I couldn't figure whether our case was in France or Niger and got a guy on the phone who was a pure idiot.

I'm not sure 5 weeks is that long though, is it?

    well... courage!!!

    Lili&Kai :star:

I just found this thread in this subforum. it has been 5 weeks since national visa center sent me a letter regarding the K1 case which will be sent to US embassey in paris. we still haven't got the package 3.

I tried to call the embassey and was told they only accept fax for queries. now we have sent 3 fax, 3/11, 3/23 and 3/24. still no any response. i am going to call the embassey again on Monday.

Have any of you had this kind of experience? it's not smooth on every steps of this journey. i am so tired these days.

  9. Hi all,

Things are moving on a little for me: last week I did the biometrics and I got my learner's driving license !!

After I struggled with the DMV the first time a couple weeks ago I called 3 or 4 DMV Services and they had never received the request that lady said she had sent. So I ended up going to another DMV (2 houres on the bus to get there.. and it's only 12 miles away... public transportation in Northern Virginia is a joke). I told them I had no foreign driving license (I have a congolese one, no kidding I actually had driving classes there). So they allowed me to take the test and I got my driving learner's DL. The first time I actually failed the test (on the road sign part you're not allowed to make a single mistake and of course I did ONE!) so I had to go again a couple of days later.

Now I can drive with kai during 30 days and then I have to take a road test.

In the meantime the little second hand 2 doors cute Toyota Yaris that I tried last week has been sold :(

C&D I really hope you can make it before he gets deployed. brrr I hated when Kai was deployed. Right now he is in a reserve training for 10 days and it reminds me of it.

About the mussels I had very good ones here last month. The only thing is they were so huge it was obsolutely discusting to look at..

Hope all is good with everyone!

  10. Hi all,

Getting the police certificate "extrait de casier judiciaire" is a piece of cake. They don't ask crazy documentation, it's free and they usually send it within 2/3 days. At least when u fill online as a french citizen. It shouldn't take much longer if you are born outside France.

Good luck with that one, but don't worry it's definitly not the most difficult document to get when filling!!

    Lili&kai :star:

  11. Cécy: the lady took all my information and she said they had it in the system blablabla, and I think she was the manager.. and I go to DMV with my bike, so going to the next closest one (milllles away) wouldn't be an option :( hopefully I'll have this sorted out by the end of this week.

C&D: Kai was in the military too (we meet when he was deployed in Irak, He visited Europe for his holidays). Well when we filled he had just left but I read a few stuff about K1 and military back then. I guess it's about the same for K3. I understood you can expedite if he is deployed, not if he is at home. isn't it weird? I mean if he is deployed you won't be able to see each other anyways ... but I guess it's because they don't want someone who is deployed to have to think and deal with all the paperwork. and that make sense too. anyways the army is used to deal with this. In what unit is he? Kai was in the 82nd Airborn, based in Fort Bragg, NC.

Regarding mooving Lucie had found a company that seemed reliable and cheap. I can't remember what the name was! Me I choose the annoying way. I'm taking 2 huge suitcases everytime I travel, and anyone who come to visit me is required to make a stop at my mum's to load some of my stuff in their bags.. not the best way but we are broke!!

  12. Hello and welcome to all the newbies :)

Today I went to DMV. The lady was soooo rude with me it was insane. She was shouting: "DO YOU OR DO YOU NOT WANT TO FILL THIS FORM?" It was crazy. Virginia issue driving license to K1 visa holder but since I have a license from another country they said they had to send a foreign driving license verification form to the State DMV in Richmond. I asked how it was working, if they just had a list of countries they would accept the driving license from. On the form it said they were actually going to check with the autorities in that country. Given that my DL is from Congo I told her it seems pretty unlikely they could make that type of verification. So I asked if I could just do the regular driving test, that I'm happy to take (I trained on their website;)) She told me that it was impossible now that they know I have a foreign license. they had to go through that process. During the whole time she was talking to me like ######. I know french bureaucratie is not much better but at least in France I'm in a position I can shout back, and now we have very good online access to all information. Here being an alien I always feel very frustrated in that type of situation, plus it seems like there is never one answer to a question. There is many depending on who you talk to!

Anyways. On another note I have my biometrics on March 4 and I'm hoping to get my EAD before April!!

Hope everyone is ok, and congrats on all recent I 129, K1 in hand, EAD, jobs and so on :)

  14. When I went to get my SSN we were already maried so I gave them a copy of the mariage register and it was ok.

well at least I hope so. I haven't seen the card yet actually. it came in the mail early today and Kai took it to work by mistake, so I'll check tonight.

  15. énorme!!!

    alouette je te plumerai!!

    félicitation :)

    Coucou les copines!

I'm so happy! I've been finally approved for my EAD today after 112 days of long wait! It happened right on time because I have an appoitment today to sign a contract in a language school to teach french to young kids (5-7yrs old) Soon, I'll be singing "Alouette, gentille alouette...!" ^_^

  16. Juliette,

Yes I lived in the Paris Region. I would have been so pissed otherwise!!

Congrat for your NOA2 and welcome on our immigation and cooking thread :)

    Lili&Kai :star:

    cool cool cool félicitation!

the interview for me went that way:

    - I passed the security

    - I took a ticket

    - I waited for my number to be called

    - they called me a first time (windows on the left): they just took my convocation, asked me if I has all the documents and told me to go sit and wait

    - then they called me again at that same window, same lady, and she went through all the documents I had brought (not in dept page by page but she check that everything is there) + she ask me a few question (address, when he plans to fly to the US and so on).

    - 3rd and last call (there is no actual call, it's a board that has the numbers) : I went to the window in the middle to talk to the Consul. The interview can be either in French or English. She asked me how we meet, what Kai was doing, what I will be doing there, when we will get married. she didn't ask me for any evidence (like photos, travels tickets or anything).

    - + I had to go back to do the finger print a few day later.

so that's how it went for me. altogether it took 2 to 3hours.

I'm sure it will go fine for Jérémy :)

Jeremy's interview is scheduled for 1/29. We're so excited!!!!

    Hey :)

I just discovered this thread. You have to go back a couple days after ? That is great when you are living in Paris ! I hope you did...

  18. mmm I just did a wiki search on HPV ... beurk..

well I'm gonna call Dr Arnold tomorrow. I understand he can transcript my vaccination information, but he won't be able to do the TB skin and the HPV long distance so I guess that means I will have to go to a doctor and have it done at one point (lucie u say it's not required after u turn 27?).

    ahlala c'est vraiment sans fin..

thanks a lot for answering my question. all of u make this process way more understandable and standable !!

  19. I have another question concerning AOS.

I though I had to fill in the medical form (I693vaccination part) and then I understood I didn't have to.

Now I'm unsure what I'm supposed to do. it seems like it depends what the consulate send in the brown enveloppe, and also on you local center (some really wanting to see I 693A). Given what I've read on the AOS section I can't make up my mind. what did u guys do?

    merci merci merci :)

  20. Hi everybody,

I have been working more on the paperwork (I-130 and I-485) today and it seems like it could actually be done before the end of the month so hopefully my husband and I will be january filers!

I don't really know how to write the cover letter though. Do I need to make proper sentences? an introduction?

    hi Leaandben

I'm going to write the cover letter today. I think I'll just put my name and alien number, then a couple of sentence explaining the case (AOS with EAD and AP from a K1) and then say "please find attached the following documents:" and list everything I send them.

    bon courage! :)

    Lili :star:

  21. bonjour

    merci d'avance :)
