BTW, we're celebrating 10 years in October. GO Visa Journey.
-
I've been out of the loop for almost 10 years. Glad the LingChe Guide has survived...but I'm not up to date on the process. Good luck though.

Hey Family!
I'm curious...what's the fastest time you've seen anyone go through NVC? Did they use LingChe Shortcuts, or something else.
I've been absent for quite a while, but hope to keep up with you all on FaceBook.Peace and Love to my VisaJourney Family.

For my friends from the way back machine, GREETINGS.
So what happened to me? I've been living happily ever after. About 2009 I realized that the administration was running this country into the ground, and I switched parties...but it was too late.
Voted for a new guy in 2012, but it was too late. I remember hearing everyone warning us about Barry coming for our guns....hope it's not too late.
Anyway, we're still happily living between Chicago and Tokyo, but thinking we need to find another country to call home. We were in Brazil recently, and really like it there...so that's a possibility.
We found a hobby we both love, IPSC shooting (aka Practical Shooting) and it's great because we can compete against each other without regard to strength or sex, we get to travel around doing it (shot the Brazilian Handgun Championships) and we continue to make great friends all around the world.
Just wanted to stop by and say Happy New Year to our VJ Family.
Best of luck to all of us.

Thanks Canadian Wife!!!!
That's EXACTLY the info I needed.
When he told me he was started this journey, I told him the first thing to do was register at VJ.
LOVE OUR VJ Family.

So a friend of mine has been in the US on a work visa for a number of years. He's now engaged to a US citizen. Does he get to skip the I-130 and just go to NVC for the AOS?
BTW, I'm the LingLing that wrote the LingChe shortcut guide.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Your Dutch license is only valid if you're a tourist...if you've immigrated to Cali, you have a limited number of days in order to downgrade your license. :-)
I say downgrade because most European (and some Asian) countries have much stricter training requirements than the US.

Greetings to my virtual family.
I'm the original author of the LingChe NVC Shortcut Guide, and I wanted to know if they're still useful?
Are they being updated as new information becomes available, or as processes change?
My fear is, that if the document info becomes out of date, that it will cause more problems than good.
The whole purpose of the guide was to get families together faster. The last thing I want is for it to cause a problem.
Please give me your input, so I can decide if it's time to delete it.
Thanks,
LingLing (living happily ever after thanks to Visa Journey).

Just stopping through to see how this old thread is going. Look like we're all still learning. ;-)
Please drop me a line and let me know if the LingChe Shortcuts are still working.

i like the avatar of yours. check out my signature, the last line.
Your sig reminds me of when the cop asked, "Why'd you shoot the intruder 17 times", and the citizen answers, "that's all the bullets my gun holds."

We've been going to the range more regularly, and since I've been working more with the AR (Rock River baby), wifEy's been shooting the 9mm a lot more, and becoming a top shot.
Speaking of Top Shot, we saw some older episodes of the show, and she was excited about the idea of moving targets as well as moving and shooting. We found a local USPSA lady champ,
and signed up wifEy for some 1 on 1 training. She'd been using her trainer's 1911 in 9mm, and prefers it to my safe action 9mm. So for her birthday I decided we should get her own handgun. She has an FOID (firearm owner's ID) so she can legally handle guns, shoot them, etc. In the late state of ILL & Noise. So I thought we should follow the letter of the law, and rather than me buying her a pistol, she should buy her own. Well we applied to remove conditions (on time) in November. Of course with USCIS's screwed up process, her green card is expired (even though we did the biometrics on time, and have a letter stating that she's still in status). State Police says their inquiry from ICE say she's an Illegal Alien, and they can't approve the purchase until she receives her new card. What kind of BS is this? Since she's been denied to purchase, I can't purchase it, because that would be considered a straw purchase. Why is it that when you follow the rules, you still get screwed?!! Gangbangers don't follow the rules, and have no problem getting firearms. But law abiding citizens are denied.
The good news (for anyone in Illinois) is that the right to carry bill has passed the Illinois House 12 - 2, and we have strong support in the Senate.
Lesson learned, buy your firearms before the GC expires....oh, and Illinois SUCKS!

That is sad but why blame the book over the hostage drama?
They blame the book because it's a convenient un-truth.
Obviously the guy already had some interest in tree hugging BEFORE he read Gore's book. Plus, he didn't praise the book, just gave it a pass.
If Gore's book had this kind of power, seeing that it's been on the best seller list, you'd think there would be more nut cases taking action.
While I'm pretty offended by Gore, I'm really offended by these tactics some people use in drawing lines between two facts that don't equal blame for the result.
Guy read Gore's book and becomes violent. Blame Gore for violence. Violence breaks out at a Heavy Metal concert. Blame Heavy Metal for violence.
Violence breaks out at a Peace Rally. Blame peace for violence.

Hi everyone, not sure if this the right forum but here goes. My gf is aiming to come over from Japan to the US on a K-1 visa. We received the NOA2 on 8/2 and she's at the point where she's almost ready to schedule an interview at the embassy in Japan. However her 1-year stay in Canada is still requiring her to get a Canadian police certificate according to the checklist. Unfortunately we didn't plan ahead for this, and now we're not sure we can get this in time, as I've read of a 120 day processing time for applicants outside of Canada looking to get this certificate. The standard way is for her to get fingerprints done in Japan, then to send the prints and her request to some office in Canada. I was hoping to see if anyone out there has had to deal with this problem and whether they found a way to either get this done quicker than the 120 day turnaround time (outside of getting on a plane and doing it in person in Canada) or whether it's possible to work around getting it done at all. I'm really open to suggestions and appreciate any advice anyone can give. This site has helped me a lot up until now, so I was just hoping someone out there might have any experience with this too. Thank you everyone for all the past help as well as anything anyone can provide here.
I've heard of people using a proxy to get their PC going. I'd check to see if they allow for a proxy (with the proper affidavit from the requestor/beneficiary) to obtain the PC.
Hope you can get it soon.

hm guide on this site for CR 1 visa is not clear enough then i guess.
It says "NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad"
That means my WIFE will continue all process with forms, not me, am i right?.
is there any other STEP BY STEP guide for our visa?
Have a look at the LingChe NVC Guide. It's step by step, and very clear.

Check out the LingChe NVC Guide.
I think it will answer all of your questions and a bit more.

I typically read through a post 2 or 3 times before pressing the "Add Reply" button.
There were no errors in my response, only an opinion expressed beyond your IQ

Pooky, Pooky, Poopy,
yes young lady, violent crime IS a communicable disease to me. Without proper treatment, it spreads.
I'll come down to your level and lash out with an attack, perhaps that is what you attempt to provoke.
Here it is....you are wrong.
Yes, I know you were expecting more, but I really don't take this personally, and I have more respect for a lady, wrong or otherwise.
Good night, and goodbye.
-
Stick with human beings, rather than lame animal analogies, and stop making yourself look like a fool.
If you want to talk ethical treatment of animals, do it in another thread. For this one, stick to humans.
Pooky made a personal attack. Pooky is not capable of a civilized debate. No cookie for Pooky.
Humans are animals too. We're just supposed to be more intelligent. But treating someone who's a violent criminal, in the same manner as we would treat non-violent law abiding citizens is the same as treating a rabid dog in the same manner as your mannered pet. A fool is someone who has seen failure in their methods, but continues with the same method hoping for a different outcome.

I was just at Road America, driving an M3 like I stole it....but I'd still rather have a ZR-1. It's got great look, handling, and power to spare. No way you can beat the price. The only thing it won't do is seat 4 adults....for that, I stick to the M3.
-
And right there, you missed my point.
The criminals are uncivilised. We, supposedly, are not.
Treat anyone, even convicted criminals, by a different set of rules and you take away any justification for thinking you're better than they are. Treat them in an uncivilsed way and you prove yourself to be just the same - uncivilised.
Treating uncivilized the same way you treat civilized?
I guess dogs and cats should be paid wages, setup bank accounts, pay taxes?
That's about as crazy as a soup sandwich.

Greetings. I’m the original author of the LingChe Shortcut Wiki....way back in 2007 I believe. Back then, I believe the average time through NVC was 6 months to a year. Once the shortcuts were published, it wasn’t unusual to see families move through NVC in 2 or 3 weeks. I believe the current record is 8 days.
I’m really glad to see that some great people have kept it up to date as processes have changed. I’m really proud that I’ve been able to make a lasting contribution to this amazing community, and help families navigate through immigration and be together sooner.
It pained me today to see all the increases in immigration fees, but at least the I-90 fee was reduced. My wife and I will be celebrating 15 years of marriage soon. We will never forget the experience, and all the great people we met along our Visa journey. I hope everyone is staying well during these trying times, emotionally as well as physically. I recall the knots in my stomach every time I was waiting for something. Creating the LingChe Shortcuts wasn’t just giving back, we used them to expedite our journey, and I used it as therapy while waiting for my wife’s Visa.
Peace and love to all.
