Dude talk to an attorney, you are wasting time getting 50 different answers. Your situation is not that rare, but there are so many what if's that you should discuss with a lawyer. Not a bunch of people on a forum that don't have a clue. I would ask questions about your job, I'm not sure if your SSN will get red flagged but a lawyer might know. I know every year I did taxes anyone who had a bad SSN got red flagged and if they didn't give me the correct number I had to let them go. That may be important for you. I would bet the farm that in your situation they don't make you leave the country, so I certainly wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes. But if your ex got mad and tried to cause problems, who knows then. Your location might matter too, lots of things to consider. Most attorneys will consult for free the first meeting. If they tell you what they would do then you could come here and ask how to do it. Best thing for you to do is be a good citizen, work and pay taxes.

I suspect two things:
1. She was told she needed more information for proof of relationship..or
2. She is bailing.
Either way it looks like you two have serious communication/relationship issues. Tanya didn't speak much English (Now she is fluent) and my Russian was/is a couple of spokes short of a wheel and we never had problems communicating on important issues.
Kiev is a relatively easy interview. As far as the Embassy/Consulate thing it's not that difficult to mix things up.
I'm sorry. I did laugh out loud when I read the title of this post. I could really hear an FSU woman (especially a young one) saying this to her friends, "I didn't get the VISA because he is too ugly." I hope it works out for you.

Good news is that you didn't bring her to the US with you (which, as much as this sounds horrible right now, had she come to the US, things would have gotten much, much worse for you), and her lie was so stupid, I'd go to one of the many website that list these scammers and put her up there, pic and all.

Sure it does. There are SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) for each consulate. If you think the process and interview in Kiev is the same as in Cairo you are misinformed.

I've had to contact the Embassy directly twice. Once for my wife because of the 2010 Volcano. And for my stepson about an aging out question. I received a complete answer within 24 hours on both.
Try emailing kyivniv@state.gov. Make sure you have the KEV number and her name. Don't go on about harassment and discrimination. Just ask about the disposition of the case. Be nice :-) It always helps...
