this rant is so good, it deserves it's own title....

Remember her cousin's family?  My FIL's brother and his wife? who cooks for me all the time? and I filled out an 864-A for?
Fat boy their son? and his 2 brothers? All electricians? the middle brother pulls his son out of school for a month at a time to visit Malaysia? Yes, that family.....
 
They  wanna buy a house. The middle brother leading the way. But he's a stiff! 650 credit score at best. House here are expensive here. The family needs to borrow a million dollars. Yes 1 million. For a 3 family house. They have the income to cover the 7500 dollar payment. But they don't have the credit. Fat boy has the credit, but he's getting a divorce from that ABC (Remember?) And he can't have his name on this house. Hey who does? Tiff does (My credit). So, he asks my wife to cosign a million dollar mortgage. This is where I said thank heavens she consulted me. I'm like....dear....don't be foolish. I know you grew up together, but if you ask your own dad about that, he'll have the same thing to say. Don't put your name on the same piece of paper as that family! Ever!  
 
Over the last 10 years that we've been married, there were several occasions where her friends have asked her for this kind of help. It's outrages, from credit cards to mortgages, to outright money laundering! It's like dodging a bullet. She hasn't really learned fully. This is what happens when your finances are good. She hasn't learn that she stands to lose a lot, and gain absolutely nothing! 
 
For this same reason, I don't speak to most of my family. I haven't been to a family wedding in.....15 years? Send a check in the mail with regrets.

A quick summary is:
- it was shameful that more members of congress didn't show up for the hearing for the reauth of funds (only 5 did)
- it isn't only a NY thing, and as a terrorist attack it deserves special treatment
- how dare they treat 9/11 first responders like this, especially with how many died and are sick

So for those who see this in the future, expect to get your P3 soon after you see this status update.

Her Entry to the US is based upon a K-1 Visa and thats all it is good for. Its a whole different process getting Legal Accounts after the Marridge. I admire Leon for mowing the grass before it even grows. Slow down. Things grow in time.

This is NOT a birth certificate - it is simply a hospital receipt.
 
The notation on the Notarial Birth Certificate is 出生公证书, or chu sheng gong zheng shu, which is what you need to ask for at the Gong Zheng Chu, or 公证处 - it is produced from her hukou book.
 
If you are unable to obtain one, you will need to explain why. You apparently have yet to even try.

Well, there's 'being foreign' outside of the country
and then
'being foreign' inside of the country.
When outside of the country, it's really difficult, as The Patriot Act Applies.
When inside the country, it's really easy.
HINT - go to SSA office on day 15 past POE date, apply for SSN, come back next day, get SSN.

So, since you're lass is still chasing the K-1 visa and today is still 'before the interview' -
I strongly suggest you don't worry about this until she is in the country.
----
If you think you need it for a wire transfer this week or next - don't fret - she can wire money to your account without her name on it.

SSN Info for K-1 visa Holders and CR/IR Visa Holders
K-1 Visa Holders
Regardless of your Marital Status, you are allowed to apply for a SSN.
You have a particular time window in which to apply -
starts 2 weeks after POE date and ends 2 weeks before the I-94 expires.
Why are these start/end dates important?
2 weeks after POE date, the SAVE database MIGHT have you in the system.
SAVE is used by SSA clerks to validate you are eligible.
2 weeks prior to I-94 expiring, SSA won't accept the application, as the validity date to
receive it will pass by the time it's mailed out to you.
How to apply:
Get into your local SSA office, bring your passport and I-94 and a birth certificate. The birth
certificate is optional, but some SSA staffers want to see it. Fill out the SS-5 form there, use
your visa name (regardless of marital status) then
--ask the SSA clerk to look you up in the SAVE system via VISA NAME and/or A#.
---If the SSA clerk can't find you, withdraw the SS-5 firmly, and come back in a week.
---If the SSA clerk can find you by VISA Name but not A#, or vice versa, you need to get to a CBP secondary inspection office and FIX YOUR SAVE RECORD with a CBP staffer (see http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/deferred_inspection/overview_deferred_inspection.xml for the local office address). Don't bother with using a telephone, just go to the office. No queues, no lines, no waiting, just go. If the CBP staffer is confused, ask for the shift supervisor - tell them you have issues with your SAVE record..
---If the SSA clerk CAN FIND YOU, YAY! Go through with the SS-5 application. Come back the next day, and ask for the SSN. Note the physical card will be mailed out, but you can have the NUMBER the next working day.
CR-1/IR-1/CR-2/IR-2/IR-5 Visa Holders
'ticking the box' on the DS-230 is sorta teasing to any Visa Applicant.
The SSN may get processed, it may not get processed - it just depends on the clerk doing the
data entry work for the 'intake' on the casefile once yer wife handed it over to any POE
staffer. I know, the tick box was ticked, there's a reasonable expectation that 'something will
get done' based on that tick box...
But -
if it's been more than 2 weeks past the Port of Entry Date,
then there's a good chance that the SAVE database system has synched up,
and
any SSA clerk, at the local SSA office, can find her in the SAVE database.
Ya won't know till you try. Suggest you go in person, bring -
--yer foreign spouse
--yer foreign spouse's passport
--filled out application (can get those at the office, too)
and apply.
Whilst at the SSA office -
Ask any clerk to look her up in the SAVE database, in the VISA name and A#.
If they can't find her by EITHER ONE (name or A#) - go away, do not allow the application to be
accepted, come back in a week - SAVE system doesn't have her, yet.
IF any SSA clerk mumbles 'need DHS/USCIS electronic verification' - do not allow the application to be accepted - come back in a week - SAVE system doesn't have her, yet.
Although SAVE database is useful for 'status checking' at the SSA office (by the SSA clerks) -
many of them are not trained on how to use it. If you get blank looks or mumbles, ask for a
Supervisor, and ask the Supervisor to 'look her up' in SAVE.
If she is found via A# but the VISA name is stored wrong, in SAVE, you'll need to do something else, with the SAVE unit, to get it changed.
It's a hassle, sure, but suggest you do change it to proper spelling of 'VISA NAME' prior to SSN issuance.

i had this problem once ... I had produced a limited power of attorney document to my bank, on her, and  they deposited it into my account.  

the case will overall be put on hold until those documents are in.

Yikes, Im sure you didnt mean for your post to come off as fishy but it does. Obviously you can not 'create' an exceptional medical circumstance- so Im not sure finding out what others were approved under would help. What if the above poster says they had Xyz medical condition? How will that help you unless you also have Xyz medical condition- highly unlikely. You are better off posting what your medical issue/condition IS and asking if it would qualify...
 
Generally speaking if you are living overseas and have a short notice relocation for a job in US- thats enough to qualify.

I'm British and voted to "leave" for various reasons. The current arrangement was not what my grandparents agreed to when the first referendum was in place that asked people if they wanted the U.K. to join the common market. The situation in the U.K. now is a long way from the common market. I'm all for free trade, easier importing and exporting and moving goods around. But I'm totally against the rules of the game being changed without the participants being consulted or given the option to leave the game. I also have huge issues with people who don't live in the U.K., have never lived in the U.K. and never will, dictating to the U.K. how to run the country. I recently went back to the U.K. for a week to visit family. Almost everyone I spoke to had an opinion on what's wrong with the current administration here. My answer to it was always "why are you trying to decide how another country should be run?" Especially when speaking to people who I know voted to leave. 
 
I know the remainers like to think that those that voted to leave are small-minded, racist, etc. And seem to think we "fell for" the '£350 million to the NHS' line. I never interpreted those slogans to mean that the NHS would definitely get £350 million a day, I just saw it as a visual to help undecided people picture the amount EU membership costs and how that could be spent closer to home. For me it was never about immigration. 
 
I don't believe any of the scaremongering about planes not being able to land (I work for an airline so I understand how it works better than most), food running out, etc. For goodness sake, we survived two wars against Germany. Whatever they do to us as a result of this song be anything like the way they tried to starve us back then. I find it an insult that people assume the U.K. will fall apart over something like this. We are far more resilient than that. I don't buy the argument about visa-free travel and what will happen if Brits need visas to go to Spain, etc. We need visas for India, Australia, China, Canada but people still go. So what? We travelled to France and Spain before the EU was even dreamt of. And if Brits will need visas to live in France or Spain my answer is also so what? How do they think I got into the USA? I spent 10 months in a pricey visa process. It didn't kill me. All these people bemoaning the fact that young people won't be able to go and live in Poland or Romania or other EU nations are being short-sighted. Why limit yourself to those places? 
 
And to finish, not being in the EU never did Norway or Switzerland any harm. Their citizens still enjoy travel, goods from other countries, etc.
