Please make me Red. I am now officially a US citizen. The ceremony was fun and emotional.
Good luck to your hubby Palm Tree Girl.

yay! congrats to you both !!!!
Also, Frali.... they didn't ask you anything about Texas governor, senators or congressmen/women
Thanks Palm Tree Girl.
No they didn't ask about the governor or anyone else. They have interview sheet that has a set of questions and they start going through them till you get 6 right. Meaning the question are not selected randomly but are pre-printed on the sheet of paper. I am guessing they have a few different exam sheets with different sets of questions.
-
also, on hubbys interview letter it doesn't say what to wear or not to wear. All he has is jeans so i wonder if he should go out and buy some slacks or just dress nice with what he has?
All the gents at the interview were wearing dress pants or Khakis. I recommend he wears khakis with a collared shirt tucked inside.
-
You don't need to wear a suit to the interview, you do need smart dress though. On my oath letter it clearly says no jeans, shorts or flip flops.
My interview went well yesterday, what are the chances of me being interviewed by a heavily pregnant woman?? She definitely made me feel less nervous about it all.
The interview was short and painless, took about 15 minutes in all. Sitting in the waiting room was far worse!
Here are the 6 questions I was asked:
- What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?
- What is the highest court in the United States?
- How many amendments does the Constitution have?
- Who makes federal laws?
- What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now?
- Why did the colonists fight the British?
For anyone that is wondering, the last question only needs one answer.
Good luck everyone!
Haha - Rocks! I just had my interview and was asked the same set of questions in the same order. I think they ask the Brits the same question ending with why the colonist fought the Brits....
Taking my oath ceremony in 3 hours. Almost done with visa journey.
- What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?
-
Thank you
And of course Governor is Rick Perry.
How many Congressman/woman does TX have? Isn't Ron Paul a TX congressman?
-
To the studious VJer's from TX:
Can you kindly tell me the names of Senators and Congressmen/women I need to know?
Thanks
-
To all who have been to interviews...
What documents did y'all take with you?
I am planning on taking my marriage cert, Our son's Birth Cert and Tax transcripts
Am I missing anything?
-
Rocks,
At the least apply for it if you guys were seriously considering it prior to July 1 and see how it goes. I really can't believe they passed this law. It is despicable.
On a good note. I got my interview letter dated June 8th and the interview date is July 18th at 8 am. I will for sure not miss USCIS once I am done with this.
-
Thanks for the info Rocks!
This sucks. I used to always be proud that the UK was so considerate and helpful of spouses and gave visas so conveniently.
I guess I ain't moving back to the UK then.
Oh dear, you didn't hear? It's not good. If you want to move back there the UKC needs to have a job in the country they're in for 6+ months that earns a certain amount plus they need to have a job offer on paper for when they arrive. USC's income is irrelevant. If the UKC doesn't have employment in the country they are in and doesn't have a job offer in the UK they would need 62,500ukp and there is no option for a co-sponsor. Makes USCIS look like a walk in the park.
-
What law did UK change?
Love to see everyone's case moving
Philly is a bit slow, though I can't say I'm not worried, as bio was almost 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't changed status to in line for scheduling. But we aren't in too much of a hurry as the UK decided to change it's immigration so we won't be affording the move over like we originally planned.

Congrats Rocks!
I am still waiting for my interview letter. Too lazy to call them.
Congrats! I just got an email telling me the same thing. I called to try and find out where it would take place but apparently they can't confirm that over the phone. They did tell me when it would be though! The end is finally in sight
-
Rocks! Can you please fix Teddy000's timeline. I am guessing the interview is in July not the Interview letter.
-
Got a text telling me my interview letter has been posted. Now waiting for letter begins.
BTW. I hate exams

You should still be able to apply for your citizenship as you have been married to a US citizen for all of those 3 years since you became a PR (assuming that you are still married to your US citizen spouse).
Just got my rejected packet in the mail today. The rejection notice says, "This is in reference to the N400, Application for Naturalization, you submitted. Your N400 is being return to you for the following reasons:
Part 2 of the N400, Application for Naturalization, Information about your eligibility, shows that you are seeking naturalization based on either:
A. Section 316 (a)- been a lawful permanent resident for 5 years or
B. Section 319 (a)- been a lawful permanent resident for at least 3 years and have been married to a USC for those 3 years."
Now my question is, does any of you April filers came to the US via K1?

HI Guys,
Can I ask every one who received the approval letter, -If they received the pre-set e-mail& txt message Alert in the same time with the Approval letter.
- If they received the Alert message later with the card production order.
-or even received the Approval letter and the green card ,and still didn't receive the e-mail and Txt message.
Thanks.
I got my txt messages and email 2 days after I received the approval letter in post.
-
Frail, have you filed a SR or made an infopass appointment prior to receiving your approval letter? Thanks
No. I had not filed a SR.

I have a quick question for VJers who have been approved.
Did you submit tax transcripts or would just submitting self tax return suffice?
Thanks All
