Yeah it sucks when we thought we'd done everything right!!! (Especially after following many guides and doing research over months, we did not go in blindly.)
But we don't know what the reason is yet! I was just checking yesterday and saw our case got the update of status, but we won't receive the RFE letter in the mail for a week or so, I believe. The wait for it is going to be hard but I'll be doing some research in the meantime to hopefully calm my worries!
It’s worth waiting! Everything will be okay!
I’m waiting for the NOA2 too and I’m really worried if everything will be okay - we did follow a really good guide, and added quite a lot of evidence and everything, but I’m overthinking that something might be missing. My fiancé’s mom is trying to calm me down and is saying that we did everything we could and there shouldn’t be an RFE 😄

We too got movement today for an NOA1 of March 28th, but got hit with a Request for Initial Evidence instead of a straight approval (which we thought we'd prepared everything so well, so it's definitely aaah and 😢).
Unfortunate for us, but definitely shows movement for fellow 28ths!!!
I’m sorry for that!
May I ask what is the reason of the RFE?

Thank you both for the well wishes!!
To update my status for anyone interested/looking into theirs: I sent another PI Oct 23, then received our tracking number Oct 30. As of today (Oct 31), we just received the FTP from the NVC and our CEAC status has changed to "In Transit."
It's my understanding that the NVC only sends out the visa packets every two weeks (every other Tuesday), so if that's true then our case would actually be sent out November 4th. Curious to see what'll happen and I'll definitely update here if that seems to end up the case.
Best wishes for everyone who hasn't received their numbers yet, I'm sure it's coming!! Hope we all get our fiance's here very soon!!!Sorry, what does PI mean? And when you can send it?
And how did you calculate that the NVC are sending out the visa packets every two weeks (Every other Tuesday)?
thank you ☀️

Hello!
Should my fiancé check “yes” although he doesn’t make enough money? We’re going to have his Mom as a joint-sponsor.
Do you think/know he should check “yes”, and on the question 19 he could write that he’ll cover as much as he can, but overall the money coverings will be from his Mom?Or do you think/know that he should check “no” and mention on the question 19 that he’ll cover as much as he can, but overall the money coverings will be from his Mom?
Someone said to just pick “yes”, but I want to double check.
I watched Yasmin & Suraj video and she didn’t mention the version of question 18 I got. She explained everything else and it was really informative and helpful!
I would really appreciate to hear your experience!

I’m from Latvia.
I called the embassy of U.S. in Latvia and asked what embassy should I pick in the I-129f form. The lady said to pick the embassy in Sweden since Latvia don’t do the K1 visa interviews anymore

I always had the original+copy with me just in case they lost something and was glad I did)
Was it just a regular copy of your original? Or a certified copy? 😅

vaccination records
school diploma
school and / or college records
country ID if they have one so u can renew it when needed
u don't need a statement of non marriage
u can drive 1 year in PA (maybe not outside the state) on a foreign licence
what u need is to be on a auto insurance plan so its best to convert to PA state license ASAP
Auto insurance and the driver being covered is very important

Wow, thank you for all the info!!

They only asked my printed ds-160 confirmation page, birth certificate, police certificate and medical examination, in the interview even tho i had prepared all the papers with me haha 😁
The list of documents they asked in mail was:
Ds-160 confirmation page
Passport
2x photos, passport style
Birth certificate
Police certificate
Evidence of support
Medical examination
Evidence of relationship
Court and prison records
Military records
Marriage termination/divorce degrees
There you go 😊
Much appreciated!
Haha, yes, you never know - sometimes it's also good to be prepared with stuff that they don't even mention
I'm just overthinking, hah

Hello!
A new day, a new question
I wanted to know what are your recommendations about what kind of documents, statements, apostilled documents should I take with me to the U.S.?
For safety reasons, I'm thinking to order a statement that I am not married that is translated in English (from a legit translation company) and get that document apostilled.
I know I will need to redo my drivers license in the U.S., but I was thinking to order a statement in English to at least show them that I have a drivers license from my country.
I'm thinking to order a certified copy of my birth certificate which is translated in English and Apostilled. I already have a translated and apostilled birth certificate.. would it be worth it to make a copy too? Or it would be just a waste of money?
What are your thoughts and recommendations?
I really appreciate all of your previous answers to my questions before! It's really nice that VJ is such a big community that are willing to help each other.

Hi!
Sorry for taking such a long time to write how it all went in Sweden etc. I've been so busy planning with my moving, but im finally here in the Usa, so happy to be here!
Whenever you have your interview date, book asap the medical since there is only 2 doctors that do that in Helsinki and usually they are pretty booked. I was able to get my medical 11 days before my interview, and they told me the results will take 2 weeks. Luckily my doctor was extremely nice and send my papers right away, so i was able to go pick them up, day before i left to Sweden! Also yes, you need to go pick the medical envelope from their office in Helsinki, they don't mail them. You need to have your vaccines up to date and have them printed with you. I had to take one booster and it was indeed quite expensive there.
I traveled to Sweden few days before my interview, and spend long weekend there. Embassy was very easy to find and everything went super quick there.
They first collected my papers and took finger prints, after that i waited and then i had my interview. Very basic questions, when we met, where, when he proposed etc.
And then they took my passport and told they will send my things in 2 weeks. All that took like 30 minutes 😅
They sended my passport and my envelope less than a week thru UPS.
If there is anything you want ask, i'll do my best to answer!😊
Congratulations!
Would you mind writing down the documents they asked?
And would you mind pasting the list of the documents they asked you in the email/mail?

In sweden we don't really have birth certificates, so we get "person evidence" from our IRS instead so I brought an original of those to my interview. In hindsight from my own situation with having a copy of my fiances divorce decree and not a certified copy of that and now looking and maybe 2 months or longer delays because of it I would get certified copies of your BC just in case
more as a "rather have a certified copy and not need it, instead of not having it certified but needing it"
Exactly! Better be safe than sorry! Noted, thank you a lot!

Nothing on their birth certificate, though we had submitted a copy of that during the I-129F.
Our Case is now in administrative Processing as of October 15th, hoping for a a fast turn around.Thank you for the reply! Good to know!
Sorry, one more question - about your birth certificate. Did you bring an original and a copy of your birth certificate? Some people say that it’s needed to have a certified copy of your birth certificate to bring to the visa interview. Did you have a certified copy or a “basic copy” of your BC?

I went through Sweden earlier this year. I think the website to schedule just requires you to have the number from the DS-160 so technically you can just submit it and then schedule your interview, but they are sort of notorious for not having any spots open.
You have to book the time slot yourself, they will not contact you about it.
They only did interviews for K1 on Mondays when I did this, and I am assuming it is the same now. I also think they just do a few every day. I couldn't tell you when they release the appointments, it seemed random to me. I just kept checking twice a day until I found one. I was able to book one for June during April, and only the Mondays in June were open for me. Nothing earlier or later. I do know someone logged in april 1st and got an appointment in May though, so who knows how it works.I know it is discouraging and a bit scary, but there will eventually be an opening, just keep checking. Good luck!
Thank you again for all the information!
Just one more question - did they request your fiancé’s birth certificate copy at the interview? If yes, did you get a certified birth certificate copy he mailed it to you? Or you just printed out the original one that was scanned.
Also, when you bring your original birth certificate, did you just made a copy of your original birth certificate or did you need to get an official certified birth certificate?
This might be really confusing, I hope you can understand what I meant 😅

I was just wondering, if the embassy’s email/mail was mentioning anything about petitioners birth certificate?

Just to be clear on nomenclature, no one gets an "original" BC, the issuing agency will only provide a "certified copy" (usually stamped or embossed by the issuing agency) which many also refer to as an "original" document. Heck, in many cases an "original" paper copy may not even exist anymore if it was transferred to a digital "original"
That said, yes, you need a certified copy of the BC.
Good Luck!
But if I have a picture of my fiancé’s BC, can’t I just print it out? Or they won’t accept that?

I just had my interview today there, after submitting my DS-160 I could log onto the website to schedule my interview. We scheduled it on September 15th ish and was 1 time slot available on tuesdays and thursdays for the first 2 weeks in october at the time. I was in and out in about 50 mins once at the embassy, got approved pending submitting one additional document (only had copies of my fiancés divorce decree and have to submit originals) Good luck with your process! You got this
Thank you so much!
Did you bring your fiancé original W2’s or copies? I’m worried if I will print all the necessary documents and they will say “no, we need the originals”
Or did your fiancé mail them to you?

Be very careful not to describe the relationship on any paperwork as "mother-in-law" / "daughter-in-law". You aren't married yet. Being married would make you ineligible for a K-1 fiance visa. The marriage has to take place in the USA after entering using the K-1 visa.
Use "fiance's mother" and "son's fiancee" (corrected for gender as needed)
Wow, thank you! I didn’t even realize that! I thought it’s all the same in English even if you’re not married yet! Noted!

Hello!
Would be perfect to hear the experience from people who were at the Swedish U.S. embassy!
When you finished DS-160, did they immediately offered you to schedule the visa interview? Like did they send you a link in email or?
Or did you need to go through a specific webpage to book?Or you just finished DS-160 and waited until embassy mails or emails you with the instructions?
I just have heard that people can immediately book an interview after paying for the DS-160, so I wouldn’t want to waste my time just waiting until the embassy contacts me if I know there is a way to book for the interview faster! 😅 I don’t know - I’m confused!

Hello!
My mother-in-law and I are trying to go through the I-134 questions.
We are a little bit confused and wanted to know what did you guys wrote/did.
Do we understand right that the sponsor is the petitioner and the joint sponsor is my mother-in-law?
So as I understand, they both will need to fill I-134.So at the question 18 - does my fiancé need to check “no”? As he doesn’t have enough of income. And on my mother-in-law’s form, it would be “yes”?
When do I mention that I have a joint sponsor? When I will fill the DS-160? Or at the visa interview?
—————————————————
At the question 12 - Beneficiary’s Anticipated Period of stay in The U.S.
Do we just write the approximate date that we think I’ll be there with my visa? Even if I wouldn’t be there from that date (we aren’t psychics, haha), it wouldn’t be a big of a deal right? It’s just weird they are asking for a specific date. I hope it would be okay if the months maybe would be the same. And of course we would check “no end date”
————————————————-
About question 17.
My mother-in-law is wondering, where she can get a proof, like a document that she doesn’t have any mortgages or anything?
What did you mention on the question 17? Does she need to mention car, houses, accounts?
If you have any tips or experience about joint sponsors, I would really appreciate! Maybe there are little things that we don’t know.
Thank You in advance!
