Just got my NOA2!!!
It was really eerie but good......so last night I am sitting on my computer checking my case status on USCIS.gov as usual, moping around, feeling blue, cursing my luck, and then at 10:30pm I suddenly get an e-mail from USCIS saying my I-130 is approved! I look at my case status and it shows approval notice sent out. So I'm sitting there stunned and then "blink" I get another e-mail saying my I-129F also just got approved! I go back to my case status and there it is....just updated and showing as approved ...at 10:45pm at night!!! Respect.
Anyway, I called my wife and we did a little dance - her out there and me out here So, can anyone tell me (and I know there has been a lot of debate about this but little clarity) which process is going to happen next at NVC? Is it the K3 or the I-130? Do I get to pick? Which one is faster (Mumbai consulate)? I read the forum for about 4 hours last night trying to figue this out but couldn't. I have a lawyer so they will give me some input too but not before next week.
Hang in there folks....your approval is just around the corner..... !!! See my timelline below.

No problem Justin & Masako, though according to an infopass I recently took, my new NOA1 date is Dec 21 since that's the day I upgraded my I-130 from a permanent resident to a citizen. No worries though. Thanks anyway.

Hi there, can you explain what is meant by "new start date." Does this mean that you gained nothing by sending in your I130 prior to citizenship. The reason I ask is that I'm in the same boat. I mailed my I130 in July, became a citizen at the end of August, but it seems (by the way things are going) that I should have waited until I was a citizen before mailing in my I130. I didn't upgrade my I130 until November unfortunately because at first I thought that mailing the I129F would be sufficient. It should be obvious right! No, but nothing is obvious from what you seem to be saying.
Anyway, I've called CSC several times now since December using the RFE trick (keep asking the same question about my returned 129F check and innocently asking if it was causing a problem with the I130 which seems to be gathering a lot of dust somewhere) and have been told several times since December that my application is "about to be reviewed." However, nothing has happened. Tow weeks ago I called the general help line to request action, given that my I130 is more than 30 days over due. They said that the date for taking action on that request was May 2. Lets see if anything happens.
Infopass at CSC is not convenient for me since I live in NM. Did you manage to learn anything interesting from that experience.
Hi, please add me to the list as a December filer. Just had an infopass today. Nothing new, was told by a very compassionate lady to "wait". At least she was kind....will take that....will take anything at this point...clutching at straws...I-130

Ninjarocket, I was under the impression that my original I-130 filing date (when I filed as a GC) would be honored. That's what my lawyer had also led me to believe. (She wasn't sure though). However, the infopass very clearly told me that the day I ugraded now becomes my "new" NOA1 date. Yes, so in other words what that means is that the time my I-130 sat at USCIS as a GC was a waste. I don't know if even the infopass lady knew what she was talking about or just said that to me to buy some time. Its all so ambigous. Anyway, the reason they probably did not cash your I-129F check is because that fee is now waived if you filed after the last fee restructure (which I think was in June or July this year) though you should have gotten a NOA1 for the I-129F application filed. You should contact them immediately if you haven't.
In any case, even with a November upgrade, you should be getting your NOA2 soon (by May) since most centers are now processing Sept/Oct dates. But in retrospect you should have upgraded your I-130 the day you became a citizen and not waited. Hang in there - we'll all get through this eventually!
