Wife had her scheduled interview this morning. Took all of 10 mins, and we were then told to wait and someone would call us for our oath appt. We waited about 10 more mins and they called us up and handed us the oath letter and her ceremony is tomorrow. Talk about fast. Our journey is finally coming to an end, and we will apply for her daughter next year as she turned 18 during the process. Whew!

Well it is time we got back on VJ! We will be filing my wife's N-400 on Friday the 17th. At last we are in the final round

So as I can see, the daughter will most likely turn 18 before mommy takes her oath. My only question is whether I can go ahead and file an N400 for daughter after her B'Day or now does she need to wait the 5 years (which is essentially just another 18 months).

Well it is almost time to send in more $$$ for the Naturalization process. Am I correct in understanding that unlike past filings, my wife and her daughter cannot file using same form? I first do wife N-400, then daughter N-600? If so, do I need to wait for wife approval before sending in daughter's? And on top of that, she turns 18 3 months after her naturalization eligibility date. What is the best way to minimize cost and naturalize these two??

Not quite right.
The only trouble is that the person you spoke to at the call centre is not the person at the desk at the airport.
Well, she put me on hold and checked with a sup so we're just gonna have to hope for the best. Hopefully since it will be for Xmas we won't have any issues.

I decided to go right to the source and called CBP. As long as they do not exceed 180days per Calendar year then it is not a problem. Their 1st trip will be 153 days and I can bring them after 12/4. The 180 then resets on 1/1/12. We're good to go!

2 visits for such long periods of time might raise suspicion. What ties could they bring to show they intend to return to Russia?

This is a concern that I have thought about as well. They do have family still there including brothers/aunts/uncles, and their son and his family. They carry their pension bank book as well as their apartment documentation. What I worry about is them being denied entry since the return would be only 4 months after they went back home to Russia. We just don't want to jeopardize the immigration process when that finally begins...

I have a quick ? regarding the 180day (6 month) limit for a B2 visit. We have brought my wife's parents here last year and they stayed just under 6 months. My thoughts now are to bring them again next month, but for only 5 months and then bring them back again in December. This will make 2 entries in one calendar year, but they will also be getting renewed visas in Sept/Oct as their 2yr will expire 9/9/11. Will we have any problems at POE if they see a departure of a few months prior, or will the new visas kind of hide it? Also, will the 2 entry/1 calendar year raise any red flags when my wife naturalizes and then applies for their immigrant visas. Thanks for any replies or advice! Don't want to ruffle any gov feathers

My wife's 20yr old daughter is now eligible for citizenship based on the 5yr condition. She wants to change her last name to mine, and doing it via the N400 is probably the best way. How much longer of a delay will this cause since it goes to a federal judge, and are there any pitfalls we should be aware of prior to proceeding? Thanks all!
