  1. Hi all,

Cari - How long is your piece of string today? :P Wish I had some facts for you, but hopefully some others will post their data.

The reason for replying was to say to the other folks who replied ... fer Gawd's sake, don't miss yer appointment! :o

The Biometrics NOA I received from the TSC last week states in capitals the following,

"PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE DATE AND TIME SPECIFIED.

IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED."

    I think that's fairly clear. ;)

As mentioned by Cari, the Biometrics NOA does have a 'Request For Rescheduling' section. It has a little box to tick (check) and the following,

"Please reschedule my appointment. Upon receipt of your request, you will be provided with a new appointment notice. Make a copy of this notice for your records, then mail the original with your request to USCIS DALLAS, blah blah etc.

Mail a copy of your request to the service center where you filed your I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence."

So that's what I would do, rather than blowing another $545 on starting the I-751 again! :)

    All the best,

    Sheila

I had the same statemnt "PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE DATE AND TIME SPECIFIED.IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED."

I would agree with Sheila and would play safe on your place (reschedule and no headache-you are stressed even now; can imagine how you would feel if you miss apptmt). However, I am sure that my lawer knows the procedures better (but in regards to Pittsburgh office)-if I would not be able to make it, I would follow what my lawers stated. (plus, a few years back in maryland, i could not make it that day (as far as I remember it was not fingerprints but pictures for some other application -since all my paper work always been done by lawers, I have not even paid attention to details till now) and just simply came the following week without any problem (but still, as far as I remember, I have called directly the biometrics center and they told me what day of any week I can come if I missed appointment). I think quite a lot of people cannot make it to fingerprints at specified day (and it is not like interview when officer has to reserve her/his time that day). Our Pittsburgh office is always empty (whole procedure 10 min max).

  2. Hey guys,

Can I just confirm one thing? I'm putting together my I-751 package and unfortunately I will be filing as a divorced couple. I have two affidavits from friends stating that the marriage was entered in to in good faith etc.

Do these have to be notarized? Is it essential?

    thanks

    Paul

My lawer said that affidavits are not essential and not needed. But on your place if you still want to include them I would check more-because i have read that they have to be notorized and should be from GC holders orUS ctzns.

  3. Is it necessary to have my wife added to the mortgage on our house as proof of residence for removal of conditions? We have many other proof, bills, affadavits, letters and photos so on. Do we need this also? The reason I ask is that there is a fee involved and great deal of paperwork that is needed done to do this, and if it's not necessary we don't see the point in doing it.

I personally dont think its necessary. Im not listed on our mortgage. When we purchased our house I was still awaiting adjustment of status and therefore they wouldnt do it. I was added to the title on the house though. I dont think this is such a big deal to arrange if you wanted to do this. I beleive it is through a Quit Claim Deed which is registered with your county. You may want to consider this as from what I was told, if something were to happen to my husband the title on our house automatically goes to me. Someone else might be able to give more info. Its been a while since we did this and I dont remember the specifics of why it was a good idea.

We have sent mortgage statements. However, it was on my name only since my credit history was better and adding hubby's name to mortgage could increase interest. The title company said that they cannot add husband's name to the deed since mortgage on my name only (reading BRAD836 post-make me think that title company just forgot to add husbands name and came with this excuse at closing). However, it is a marrital property in PA-even if it is on my name only, i cannot even sale it. We added to I-751 package mortgage bank paper work showing that they been working on joint application, but better terms were available only for mortgage with my name only.

  4. My lawer said to send only first page of bank statements. It does show some activity-but the pupose (I was told) to show address. We sent about 3-4 statements of everything (credit card, bank, utility)-to show that we have been living together throughout marriage.

I read here that some folks actually cover with black marker all financial info for USCIS (and get approved). Some do not want to mingle finances and still get approved. Some have kids and still wait for approval and go through interviews. Go figure. I went with lawers advice-since I guess 20 years of experince means something.

  5. Tex'n'Brit is down to the point-great explanations!!!!

Mine was assembled by lawer, but here what I was told.

Send only copies-if you asked for interview, you ll bring originals (do not know about affidevits since my lawer said that they are not nescesary and it is a weakest evidence-so I have not included)

Fotos-I just made xerox copies of 2 fotos on each page (it gives you space to write who is on foto, time and where)

    Same with cards, envelopes-xerox copies.

I remember that whole tax returns were copied (not just first 2 pages but actually with suplements, etc)

Sometimes a package get lost (very unusual but might happen)-keep originals.

    Hope it helps!

  6. we received our NOA scheduling Crash's biometrics.. but as luck would have it.. the date is for when we will be away on vacation. there is a "request for rescheduling" option that we can check and send back to get a new date. just wondering if anyone knows how long that takes? thanks

I have not rescheduled. I am in Pittsburgh-might be dif in other centers, but

since I have a lawer, they sent NOA2 to my home and to lawers address. Lawer has forwarded NOA2 (the same biom appointment letter-actually my was copy and his original, I think) to me and in his letter it was stated that

I do not need to re-schedule appointment if I cannot make it that day. I just need to come to center for fingerprints any Wendsday from XXXam-XXpm. I do not remember time and not 100% sure it was about Wend (90% sure) since I could make it to center anyway.

So, I guess they do set aside some time everyweek for folks who could not make fingerprints the scheduled day. You migh just ask at fingerprint center (in Pittsburgh it is at the dif location then USCIS)

  7. Hey guys, I'm confused about the fee for the I-751. The current fee is supposed to be $465 plus $80 biometric fee. Now is that biometric fee included in that $465 or am I supposed to send 465 + 80 for a total of $545. It's been a long time since I had to do any of this paperwork #######, I've forgotten a lot of the details.

I appreciate all the help, this website has been invaluable to me.

$545 for sure-that is what my lawer sent

  8. going back to us-airline will ask for GC or any other proof-permission to enter us. (at least, I was always asked)

so, valid GC is must (or stamp or NOA-I guess). I understand that you are returning before your GC gets expired-you should be fine. Why don't you prepare package before you leave and ask somebody to mail it on/after Nov28 while you are in Romania (so, you would not loose time)? Or you can always mail it upon return.

  9. We sent:

3 years span of utility bills (some on my name, some hubby's -about 3 each (light, gas,etc)-beginning, middle period and last month)

    family plan cell phone bill

federal tax returns for 2 years (do not remember if state tax was included-but all supliments in federal for sure)

hubby's W2-old shows single status, new shows married (so at work guys know that he got married)

    driver lisences-shows address

bank statements (from 2 banks-we changed checking when moved)-about 3 statements (same begin, mid, last month)

    credit card copies

    cosco cards

mortgage only on my name (but it shows address, since in our new house all utilities under my husband's name-I was too busy at that time to connect)

xmass card's envelope from hubby's family (shows address and both names and post office stamps)

card from my work-happy marriage card with many signatures

about 15 fotos (wedding, with his family, with my family, i am with son-in-law, vacation)

My lawer said it is sufficient-but no guarantee from interview (and hense longer time) since it is random

  10. I paid $1,500 for I-751 just because I did not bother to check the procedures. My lawer is great, but still my I-751 was prepared by paralegal (nice and smart but young girl). We all know that we need proof. Some proof which lawer suggested anyway was too late to get (travel tickets, etc-I actually never thought ot it as proof till too late and it was lost).

My lawer was confindent that affidevits are not nescesary (he has prob about 20 years of immigr experience and very good reputation). More financial docs.

The application per se is very easy. If I d checked this forum prior, i would send appl by myself.

Lawer's help might be handy only if were asked for interview (which I understood from my lawer are quite random and which I have learned from this forum could be abusive). If you get lawer at later stage (for interview for ex), it is same money.

  11. JUAN01 is sooo right. I am new to this site, but went through old posts (and learned a lot-so many dif situations). Check old posts-great deal of info and responses to situation similar to yours.

Couple of posts about denial of I-751 when divorce was ONLY filed (no hearings-so they might be checking court records).

From this forum I have learned that if your divorce comes before I-751 approval-you cannot really apply for ctzship (otherwise, your 10y GC gets revoked).

If divorce is imminent-new I-751 a must (with waiver).

I just hope it helps. But I have learned it just now from this forum-no real experience (my lawer did all my papers and I just became curious what the procedures are). Take time scroll back posts-you will find many people in similar situation.
