They may have decided to change the rules or somebody screwed up. I send them the EU-version (that includes English and a bunch of other languages) of mine and they accepted that for all applications. Normally I would say contact them, but we all know how useless that is.
Verify that you do have the "long" version and try again.
Yeah i think i will send them the long form Finnish and english version, and just in case get it translated too. So hopefully that's enough 😅

make sure when you send it , the documents are labeled with case number , both names and DOB's
even when the cover RFE letter is sent in with it , documents gets separated and sometimes lost in the system

Good thinking -- we must "play their game" sometimes.
You're very welcome. Be sure to keep us apprised of your progress!

Others' advice may differ. I suggest obtaining your Finnish-language BC, having it translated into English in the fashion they want, and send both in. You may as well again include the English version that you already have. Doing all this will be frustrating, and it indeed seems like unnecessary double work, but interpreting instructions literally is sometimes the only way to make progress.
Yeah, i rather do some extra work than get denied, so thank you for the advice!😊

Hello!
We received RFE about my birth certificate which kinda confuses me, since i added it our i-485 application.
RFE said: ''Submit an English translation with the applicant’s foreign birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority. If the document is in a language other than English, you must submit a copy of the foreign language document and an English translation. For the foreign language document, we will only accept a long-form birth certificate which lists at least one parent''.
I checked the requirments from uscis website and i did send english version of my long form birth certficate with stamp.
So should i order my Finnish version of my birth certificate, since i didin't add that.
Could that be the reason why we got RFE?
Thank you in advance!
ps. can't update my timeline for some reason.
Just add, we can order our birth certificates in english from digital and population data service agency, but there is no translator information, so do i need to get separate translator to my birth certificate? or is that version enough?

Hi!
We ended up filling in the financial documents and resending everything, including every page from the tax documents. It seemed to have done the trick, because we now have an interview scheduled later this month. We used the online portal. Scanned the things we had to sign and put it all together again as a pdf.
Best of luck to you, I am sure it will all be fine!
Thank you for your reply, im happy to hear that! Best of luck for your interview! 🙂

We looked into it and we are a little stumped. Obviously there could have been a little mistake in the form somewhere, but I went through and filled in N/A everywhere empty (the form on the computer is notorious for not letting you fill everything out so you gotta do it later). I think I checked the signatures, and that form was only 12 pages so we both made sure no pages were missing. Still, we could have made a mistake somewhere. My husband is pretty meticulous but mistakes happen. He mentioned that maybe we overdid it with the financial evidence? Like I mentioned before we submitted tax transcrips (22-24), W2s (22-24), and 1040s (22-24) in addition to pay stubs for the past six months and a letter from his company mentioning that he works there and how much he makes. We followed a YT video that recommended all that. His theory is either that this was overkill, and that he should have just submitted his latest tax transcript, or that the letter from his employer was too old. We got it written back in May because we filled in the support documents before my interview. They never took a look at them, but we figured that it is still from this year and the pay stubs shows a stream of income since.
Any advice or idea what happened here? We will just resubmit asap, but we want to do it right.
The other day I got my biometrics appointment set up for the 14th this month, will the RFE interfere with that? X_X We plan to submit soon, and I can do it online but still..
Hi!
We got the exact same RFE and we are very confused what we did wrong, we double checked everything. What did you end up doing? What papers, proofs etc you were adding on it? Did you send the RFE back fixed thru mail or thru the USCIS account?

Hi!
Sorry for taking such a long time to write how it all went in Sweden etc. I've been so busy planning with my moving, but im finally here in the Usa, so happy to be here!
Whenever you have your interview date, book asap the medical since there is only 2 doctors that do that in Helsinki and usually they are pretty booked. I was able to get my medical 11 days before my interview, and they told me the results will take 2 weeks. Luckily my doctor was extremely nice and send my papers right away, so i was able to go pick them up, day before i left to Sweden! Also yes, you need to go pick the medical envelope from their office in Helsinki, they don't mail them. You need to have your vaccines up to date and have them printed with you. I had to take one booster and it was indeed quite expensive there.
I traveled to Sweden few days before my interview, and spend long weekend there. Embassy was very easy to find and everything went super quick there.
They first collected my papers and took finger prints, after that i waited and then i had my interview. Very basic questions, when we met, where, when he proposed etc.
And then they took my passport and told they will send my things in 2 weeks. All that took like 30 minutes 😅
They sended my passport and my envelope less than a week thru UPS.
If there is anything you want ask, i'll do my best to answer!😊

I would certainly get them all up to date as soon as possible. There are horror stories about people who waited until they have entered the US.
Yeah i agree!

K-1s can defer vaccinations until they enter the US, can they not?
Im not sure, atleast they told me when i booked my appointment that i need to have all my vaccines on date. And if not they will give them to me in the appointment and it's extra fee.
That's how it was in Finland and my experience.

Hi everyone!
We submitted our K-1 first batch of paperwork a few months ago so we're just waiting now.
The thing i'm wondering about is the medical exam mentioned on the webpage of the Swedish embassy, where the interview will be held (i'm from Finland).
Is the medical exam and bloodwork and vaccines a must for someone from the EU countries? It kinda sounded like a lot, going to a specific doctor and get all the x-rays and vaccines and stuff. Plus it looks to be quite expensive too.
Paying the fee's is not gonna be a problem, but i'm a bit freaked out and anxious about the whole ordeale and i couldn't find any info about people going through the medical exam and such.
So is it actually a think to get ready for or is it something that it's not a usual request for the K-1?
Thank you all a lot!
Yes it is a must. I just went through the medical in Helsinki, it was very simple, but you do need to have all the vacciness up to date, they were very strict about it. You need to have all the vacciness printed out from "omakanta", or if you still have the old "neuvolakortti", you can have that too.
I had one vaccine that i needed to take in the medical exam, and it was quite expensive to add on it, so i recommend to have everything ready before the medical exam. But yeah it's mandatory to everyone who applies visa in US.

I went to my medical a month before my interview, and they still did not manage to send it there in time. 😒
The officer just told me that he would approve me once they got my medical, that it would take about 2 weeks and gave me the 221g papers saying I had been refused. My CEAC is also stuck on refused a week later, so don’t let it bother you. 🙈
Thank you for your reply! 😊 No way, that's very annoying 🥲 how long it took it was approved?

Do not reschedule the interview. . Complete the medical and attend the interview. Final decision and processing of the visa will be on hold until the Consulate receives the medical report. This is a very common occurrence
That's great news! Thank you for your reply!

Hello,
I booked my interview, and i couldn't get medical check up earlier than 11 days before the interview. They told it will take 2 weeks to get my results and told they won't be able to get on me in time. Can i go to my interview without them and send them later or do you recommend to re-schedule.
My interview is in Stockholm Sweden. (It was hard to get the interview date since there was 3 options and latest was the one i booked, nothing else was available. And i couldn't book my medical before i had my interview booked.)
Thank you in advance!

i have a norwegian character in my surname (å) and my passport has a part where that is spelled aa so see if you guys have somethinh like that so all the different spellings are consistent.
that being said my fiance used one a in the 129f but i changed it to aa in the ds160 so i think that part is the most important.
Hi! 😊
We finally got the number from nvc, but for some reason i can't find the place or website where i can add it, so i can see when the application reach to the embassy.
Do you remember how long you waited after NOA2 your application be in embassy?
We received NOA2, 17.3.
We haven't got any update still.

I'm following this! I'm currently waiting for NOA2, but I know that the interview will be held in Stockholm, Sweden!
How did you contact NVC?
just wondering, in case we need to as well. Also, how long is considered a long time before we should contact them?
Thank Youuu!
It took around that two weeks when we got our case number from the nvc! We needed send like 4 inquirys tho, which was quite annoying!

I think it was this one! But when you receive your NOA2 give it few weeks and then you can ask it!

Hi!
I'm from Finland too and me and my fiancé want to start our visa process this year. There are some things we're not sure about and because i found a fellow finn here, i will ask you here, even though this post is about ambassies😅
Because we have ä and ö letters, some of the addresses i have lived at have them in the street names and the town i'm from is Jyväskylä😅 I tried to look it up, but i am not sure as to should we write it with just using the ä's and ö's, or make the ä into ae etc? Thank you in advance if you have any suggestions in this part! ☺️
And also, would be great to hear how it goes/went in Stocholm☺️
Hi! Im happy to hear we have another Finn here 😊 when my fiance applied the Visa he did put "a" and it was accepted and we had no issues, my last name and addres contain "ä" too.
If you have anything else in mind, im happy to help 😇 and i'll update how the process are moving, atm we haven't heard yet about embassy etc.

Do not get too discouraged, just keep trying. Depending on their mailing date, you might get lucky and a lot will happen rather quickly.
Just keep messaging them every week or so, eventually you will have the number and see your case reach the embassy. ^^
I managed to schedule my interview for june btw, so it did not take months and months (although I guess june is still a while away and technically 3 months since our case went to the embassy.. lol)
Yeah! We will send a new inquiry again in next week loll! Let's hope we will hear something soon! 😊
Oh that's not too bad then!😇 June is almost here!!

We didnt get a specific date, but we asked the week after they told us they did not have it yet so I would not wait that long. XD As long as they have responded to the previous inquiry, I don't think there is an issue asking for another, as long as you wait at least a little. XD
I am having a nice time here. Going through the passport control was a little scary, but I brought all sorts of documentation just in case. We are just hanging out and having little adventures together while setting things up at the house. ^^My interview is the 16th of june.
I could have gone for a week earlier, but I wanted to make sure I have enough time to go to my medical after my new passport arrives.
Just an update, we send our inquiry again, and we got reply back that they haven't received it yet, and said it might take 6 weeks. Now it's been a month..🥲 frustrating..
