Gigli2008 got a reaction from bigjailerman in Immigration Guides for Foreign Relatives
    Hello Ewok
I was reading through the guidelines to better understand the way USCIS works. I did not find a thread for N600 and the guideline procedure for a USC to bring a minor child is not as I previously understood. I thought that once one becomes a USC, their minor children become USCs as well and all that one has to do is to file the N600. The guidelines say that one has to petition for alien relative by way of the I-130.........!! Are your guidelines correct and I am wrong?
    Thanks
    Gracey

I am sure this question has been asked before. But what was true 6 - 12 months ago, may not necessarily be the case today.
So, in response to current processing at NVC (in 2012), how long are VJ members reporting it is taking for NVC to issue a Case Number after Service Centers send NOA-2s?

Sometimes it's an honorable thing to give credit where it's due. People who fight for the rights of others should be appreciated. In any case you are only offended because of the title/name the act was given, not because of the contents of the act. The contents of the act covers men, women and children. The acronym VAWA....It's just a name.

I disagree. VAWA was enacted with help from women advocacy groups. Women are the ones who pushed then Sen. Joe Biden to bring it to law. For you to say that VAWA was made as some sort of bias is incorrect. That VAWA benefits men and battered children of USC proves that it is not a biased law. It would be biased if it was covering women only but not men. If it weren't for women advocacy groups, VAWA would not be law today. Men should participate in advocacies that protect the rights of men like the women groups do. Don't let us (women) do all the work and then complain that we are biased against men, when we push congress to protect us, especially when you get to enjoy the benefits of our hard work.

I happen to work for a medical group in North Texas area. We have many doctors who trained out of the country, so here is the process. All physicians who've trained out of the country (with the exeption of Canada and some UK and few European Countries) have to repeat their Internship and Residency here in the US before ability to get licensed and work in the US.
And, before one can be admitted to a US Internship/Residency (1 year Internship and 2 - 4 years Residency depending on Specialty, eg., Internal Medicine 1yr Internship and 2 years Residency BUT OB/Gyn 1 year Internship and 4 years Residency, General Surgery 5 years Residency etc.,) Before this Internship/Residency admission, a foreign medical graduate (regardless of how many years they've practiced in their country) have to undergo an equivalency exam by ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. This may take 1 to 3 years depending on how fast you get your stuff in order. Like all US graduates this involves exams for USMLE 1, 2 and 3 (United States Medical Licensing Exam) and an additional English Proficiency test.
After you complete ECFMG (USMLE Exams) then you can apply for Internship & Residency (minimum 3 years depending on specialty) After completing Residency then you can decide which state you want to work in and send in your State Licensing Application which also has exams. It takes roughly 4 - 6 months to obtain a license in Texas (I don't know about other states)
Therefore, you are looking for at least 6 years to start working as a doctor if you are a foreign medical graduate.

Of course you may - oh your majesty . As long as you treat them with respect and afford them the same rights and privilges as you would your sons and brothers. And when you do that, hopefully no one will accuse you of being a feminist for wanting the following for them: equal opportunity to education, voting, property rights, the right to not be sexually harrased or abused for being women, equal pay for equal work, and other gender equality issues.

Not loving you interfered in loving you.
An abused person takes normal treatment as wonderful, and it's easy for the abuser to occasionally do something trivial that seems like such a big deal to the abused.
There isn't one molecule of my life that my wife doesn't know about. She has permission to look through emails, cell phone, internet history - everything. I've never stepped out on her despite having permission to do it. I'd be key-logging that husband or doing some pretty close inspection of everything he's up to. Who knows what really happened with that other girl. Maybe she dumped him. But I would not take his word on it.
You mentioned that the face-to-face discussions are so difficult with the long silences and so forth - it isn't because there is nothing to say. It's because what is in his mind is not being said. People blurt out what is on their mind in real time when they are expressing their true feelings. But when they need to conceal something, they have to think carefully about what they are going to say to manipulate the other person.

I know you did not ask this but thought I should let you know so you don't waste some time like I did. When your husband files the I-30 for his son, please remember to attach the I-864W AND NOT the I-864 plain. Your husband is exempt from proving income ability to support his son, because his son will become a USC upon admission at Port of Entry. Tag me when you start the process, if you have any questions. There are not many cases here on VJ for USC filing for their own natural born children. Most VJers are bringing fiance(es), spouses and step children. The rules are a little different for USCs bringing their own children.

I guess a country like Romania that has ONLY 19 Million in population (in comparison to 300 Million US population) and the size somewhat equivalent to the great State of Michigan can afford to be a "great" country hence the tooting of the horn. The US has to manage 300 Million people and try to do right by all of them, including the roughly 1.2 Million Romanian-Americans. Cut us some slack. Hopefully, unlike you, those 1.2 Million Romanian-Americans love being here.

Oh! I am here and have been for 14 years and counting . I came here because I knew life would be better for me in the US. I stuggled a little bit the first year in the US, but like they say, "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps" and now I have a job that pays me 95% more than I did back home, even though I had a really good job there too. I have a paid up home in Texas and a paid up car. I have used opportunities in the US to better my parents/siblings/family back home, and I know they are grateful that I came to the US.

It may not be racism, but it definitely is prejudice/hate/intolerance. Call it what you want. You like to paint with a broad brush, so be it. If I said that people from Romania are cons, and that they shouldn't be trusted, that would be wrong. Coz just because Romania has been stereotyped in many different ways shouldn't make the whole country a bad country or their entire population untrustworthy. The US, like many countries, is a great country, and that is my opinion. I like the opportunity it has provided me and millions of other naturalized citizens.
