Petitioner's birth certificate is one of the possible documents filed with the petition as evidence of US Citizenship.  The Consulate has the file USCIS used to approve the underlying petition.

We only submitted the petitioner's U.S. citizenship certificate with the I-130 petition to USCIS. Do we also need to take a copy of the petitioner's birth certificate for the interview?

  2. Can anyone confirm if the Petitioner's Birth Certificate is required? We received the Pre-Interview Document email from Mumbai stating that all documents, including the Petitioner's Birth Certificate, are OK. But, we never uploaded or provided the Petitioner's Birth Certificate. Do we need to take the original petitioner's birth certificate to the interview and upload on CEAC?

  3. @JeanneAdil No expedites at NVC. I received my IL five days after DQ. The embassy doesn’t schedule medicals.

My question was about the medical facility—they don’t recommend scheduling the exam until two weeks before the interview, but I’ve seen others get it done almost a month before their IL date.

Also, extended AP seems to be more common in Pakistan than in India. In Mumbai, most cases receive a visa within a week after the interview.

  4. Hello,

I tried to schedule my medical at Max Hospital in Delhi, but they mentioned it can only be done 15 days before the interview date. However, I’ve seen others complete it as early as a month before. They claimed that if it’s done earlier than 15 days, the Consulate (Mumbai) might nullify the report, which doesn’t make sense since medical reports are valid for six months prior to entering the U.S. Any thoughts?

They mentioned the report will be ready three days after the medical, and we’ll need to pick it up and bring it to the interview ourselves. Who should we submit the medical report to at the Consulate? Should we also bring the CD, if provided?

  5. Hello,

I recently requested an expedite inquiry on my pending I-130 through my local Congressman. USCIS responded, stating that since the case is already with an adjudicating officer, expediting the case isn't possible.

How long does it typically take to receive a decision once a case is with an adjudicating officer? Do officers have any specific timeframe or metric for completing cases once assigned? Thanks!
