Usually if someone has an interview and they get an RFE the USCIS has up to 120 days to make a decision. So if your friend interviewed in August it looks like USCIS has until sometime in November to give them a response. After that, they can take USCIS to court and force them to make a decision on your case.

You're welcome Olehandro. Even though it's not necessarily essential, keep looking for your passport and bring it along to the interview if you find it.
I'm ok, thanks for asking. Getting a bit anxious now because it's 6 weeks in line and 12+ weeks in total processing time so far with no word on interview scheduling. Hope to hear something soon, but see that others ahead of me have gotten nothing yet. It's weird too since Atlanta recently updating their processing times to 5 months. You'd think that means things are going much faster than usual, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well, patience is a virtue....so the wait continues!

Hey Olehandro. I don't think it should be a huge deal since you've applied under either the 3 or 5 year rule and that's the time period they'll focus on with your travels. The furthest they should go back is 2008, and the missing passport was expired long before that. I think you'll be fine.

Naturalize whenever you want once you meet the reqiuirements, or never if you don't want it. Once you are a USC you MUST use a US passport to enter and exit the country. You can use your other passport to enter and exit your home country if you'd like.

I wrote mine the memo field at the front. Was accepted with no problem. I've always been told never to write on the back of a check.

I agree with the answer above mine. The person has to be living in a viable union with the person they are married to. The fact that they are living apart and he had a domestic violence charge against him will reflect very badly and he will most likely be denied. As mentioned he must wait until matters are worked out between him and his wife, or wait the full additional 2 years and file on the basis of 5 years residency.

I haven't seen one in the mail as yet but it's pretty common as the posters above me mentioned. Just bring whatever they ask for to the interview. The IO may or may not even ask for it but you don't want to run the risk of not having it.

I don't know if we can call on the weekends. The lady at the Portland processing center said call in 6 weeks if we don't have the letter and 6 weeks from Sept. 3rd is Oct. 15th. So if we don't have the letter by next Tuesday we'll call immigration during business hours to see if we're scheduled for an appointment or not. I hate to think we're getting some mail like the yellow letter and not the important stuff like the interview letter, but it happened with our biometrics letter the same way. There was no update online for us even and we signed up for emails. Ugh.
If they say we're not scheduled for an interview then I wonder if we should call every week to be sure? The May filer for Portland took 72 days to be scheduled and the immigration online advice says wait 90 days before calling. While we filed within the 90 day time frame of our 3 year anniversary we passed our three year anniversary on Sept. 29th. and we're placed inline Sept. 5th which is less than 30 days from the anniversary but we were also late because of our missed biometrics appointment.
I will be so glad when all this immigration business is behind us and we close this final chapter for good. This entire long process has been a complete nightmare and I totally have PTSD from it. I just wish this one last part would go as smoothly as everyone has said citizenship would.
Can we ask them over the phone an estimated time on when we'll have our interview for citizenship at our local office? Surely they must know something if they're placing people in line for interviews. Just knowing instead of freaking out about possibly missing it would bring me some peace of mind.
Call them on Tuesday and ask them everything you just wrote. The worst they can say is no they won't give you any info. Once you hit the 6 week mark, call every week. There's usually 4-5 weeks between when you get the letter and when the interview date is. If you wait too long you might miss it or find yourself with only a week or 2 to prepare. Keep calling and asking for information until you hear something.

A couple of us July filers have gotten the yellow letter after they review our case. We're still waiting on our interview letter after we got our yellow letter last week. After what happened with our biometrics letter getting lost in the mail I'm having PTSD kick in with the anticipation of our citizenship interview letter. There is no online update or letter in the mail yet for our interview being scheduled however that was the same case with our biometrics letter and they said they sent it. Thinking of calling and having dh check with immigration just encase we've been scheduled for an interview and we don't know about it again like with the biometrics appointment. The lady at the Portland processing center told us at our biometrics appointment to check in after 6 weeks. However the status online has us in line for interview and gives a timeline when to check which is 90 days from biometrics and that's longer than six weeks. I don't want to wait too long to check encase we miss an appoitment again and get delayed longer like the month delay we had from the biometrics mess up.
OM, you stay on them. If I were you I'd do exactly what you just said. The one thing you definately don't want to miss is the intrview. Most people get scheduled before those 90 days of being in line, so you call now and see if you can find out what's going on.

Helloo guys , i received my interview letter today , date nov 12. Yeiiiiiiiiii also i have a big question, in the interview you do the test on a computer or they ask you the question? Some good app for iPhone so i can study on the go? Thank you everyone!!!!!!

The exam is going to be mostly verbal and they will ask you to write down one sentence.
I have an app on my phone called US Citizenship Flashcards. It was free. I don't have an iPhone but I'm sure they have it or something like it on there. Just do a search.

Case status updated today to say they have scheduled me for the oath ceremony and have mailed a notice providing the date, time, and location.

Got a yellow letter from USCIS in Lees Summit stating that after a complete review of our file we may need additional documents at your interview that is not yet scheduled, that document is copy of driver license or state issued ID. Did anyone else get something similar?
This is normal. A lot of people get the yellow letter. Just make sure you bring what they ask for to the interview which is straightforward since it's just your drivers license.

Had the interview this morning in Chicago. Arrived plenty early due to unpredictable Chicago traffic, and was called for interview 10 minutes before scheduled time. Passed the civics test. Answered a few questions. The officer didn't need to look at the huge stack of documents we brought "just in case". The whole thing lasted about ten minutes. Was hoping for more closure, but received a "we'll be in touch" send-off from the officer. Guess the waiting continues for a little longer... Feeling jealous of the places that have same-day oath ceremonies.
On the plus side, having the interview continue as scheduled despite the shutdown makes the expensive filing fees seem a little less evil.
Congrats on having such a smooth interview and thanks for giving your interview experience. Which boxes were checked on the sheet of paper you got at the end? I hope you get word of your oath scheduling before the end of the week!

The letter says "all action on your form N-400 has been terminated". That means your request for withdrawal was successful. If you want to become a citizisen later on you must refile with a new N-400.
