Thanks, it's really helpful to know that this happens sometimes and it's not all going to just disappear forever lol! My biggest question is how on earth do you get through to the CSC? We have called the USCIS I don't know how many times and they say it is impossible to call the CSC....do you have a number? My fiance did call the congressman yesterday so hopefully that will get us somewhere soon too.
This whole thing just makes you want to scream doesn't it!!!!
All the best for your interview
The number I used was 1-800-375-5283. Calling today or tomorrow should will work out better. expect to be waiting for 20 minutes or so before you get someone.
now for an UPDATE!!!
Tina has received a date for her interview, October 8th!! Just got off the phone with her, she has her medical on the 25th of this month so that will be out of the way. Things are moving now.
Congrats! things will move quickly now for you I'm sure! Thanks for that number!

Hi, congrats to all of you who have your interview date, or better still, your visa in hand!
We received our NOA1 on Feb 25th and the NOA2 on July 14th.
It is now mid September and the NVC STILL has not received my case. Is there anyone out there with the same experience? I am starting to get seriously concerned..... and worst of all there seems to be NOBODY at the end of a phone who can or will tell us where on earth is my NOA2 sitting!!!!
Any reassurance greatly appreciated!
Thanks and good luck to all

Umm yeah, if you read back through the pages of this thread I had the same problem. I waited over 8 weeks for the my case to reach the NVC. If you call the NVC all they will say is it could take up to 90 days to reach them. What you need to do is call the CSC, go through the menu options for an approved case. I believe you need to press 1, then I think it is option 6, but don't quote me on the right numbers.
In either case when you reach a live person tell them what is happening. that you have your NOA2 in hand but your case has not reached the NVC yet. Once I spoke with a live person at the CSC I was told they would have to order my file again and it would take about a week to get processed again.
Things got moving once i called the CSC also follow Don's advice and contact your congressman. I called mine but things began moving with out them.

I believe it can take up to several days or a week for the visa to return to him at his house, along with his passport. Since he would have to wait for that before flying anyway, he will have it for the wedding day. I do wonder if the 11th is a bit soon to fly if the interview is on the 9th in case he doesn't get the passprt back in time? I hope it works out for you

We had the same feelings, so we will be having a non-legal religious ceremony in the UK with all my friends and family, white dress etc, but without any legal binding or registration, then travel with K1 visa to complete the marriage by way of the legal ceremony (which we're doing quietly) in the US. Isn't is the saddest thing that beauracy means making so many sacrifices...hey-ho at least we'll be with our loved ones eventually and forever

Very happy for you that you have your interview soon. Hope it all goes smoothly!!
I can't tell you how upsetting this is. I knew the approval would take a long time and was so patient, just went along for the ride but this bit, it's so unnecessary and painful. We have already made (non-legal) wedding plans and booked flights for mid November thinking that would give us plenty of time. Alas we may need to rethink....
Thanks for your support, it's so nice to know people are feeling the same frustrations!

I appreciate your answers, thank you!
Always good to hear a new approach....been trying to get hold of SOMEBODY who might know at various USCIS phone numbers, all they say is that they have no further info...SOMEBODY must know where our files are!!!!!
Thanks

Hi!
We are having the same problem. I don't understand because there are some people on here who received their NOA2 at the end of July and in less than 10 days their packet was at the NVC and is now on its way to their embassy. Meanwhile, I received my NOA2 on July 14th and the NVC have not even received it yet!!! What's going on?? Where is it? I am getting extremely impatient and somewhat concerned....can anyone offer any insight?
Thanks!

I think I read somewhere that once you submit your forms back to the US embassy (after NOA2, before interview) that they also need your passport. Is this the case? I need to know in advance so I can make work decisions about travelling around the date that we are anticpating my interview to be...
Thanks

Hello all, just joined this site....what a fantastic place to work all this stuff out-otherwise very confusing!! I am the fiancee (UK) of Terry from Chicago. We got NOA1 on Feb 15th so here's hoping for a quick NOA2 date! Good luck to everyone...
Oh btw, what does 'touched' mean?

living abroad with US PR visa?
in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
Posted
Hello,
I hope I might find some answers here. I am waiting to receive my 10 year permanent residence card (I have my one year extension on the conditional PR) and do not foresee any issues with that, so will hopefully receive it in the next few months and I plan on applying for citizenship next year once I reach my 3 years of PR.
Meanwhile, my husband is in the interview stage of a great job that would sponsor and move us to NB, Canada. We had every intention of living in the USA permanently, and will probably still do so, but for now, this might be a great opportunity (my husband has been out of work for a few months now). I am not willing to relinquish my current status in the USA after having worked so hard to get it, and with my husband being American and all his family here, it clearly makes life a lot easier if I also have US citizenship (especially once we have kids). Furthermore we don't know what the future will hold and whether we'd stay in Canada for more than a couple of years.
So now what? I know the USCIS frown upon a PR living outside of the USA for more than 6 months to a year. But I also saw a possibility of holding onto the PR status until naturalized, even if I move abroad? Does anyone have experience with this? Is this at all possible?
Any suggestions appreciated...
Thanks
Emily
