I sent my paperwork via usps and had it certified..when I tracked it online, I did see the name of the person that signed for it at the destination (not sure how much my reply helps..just wanted to say that I saw a name online as well)

As an update, we got the NOA1 today w/ the date of 8/10/2010

I was looking at the May filers and some of them were approved in less than 3 months... isn't that fast!

I wish all of us could get through this process the same way: FAST and PAINLESS

Yessssssss!the check was cashed today...checked bank account 3 times today (3rd time is the charm)

The package was received on Tuesday morning...I wonder how long until they will cash in the check(so I'll know there is some movement)...tic tac tic tac ...hate the waiting game

So exciting to see the August filers adding their info in... we are just 4 days shy from sending them I can't believe it's been already 2 years since we've been through this waiting game.

You have more than enough to scale the process easily. I don't know about items 6 & 7 though. Letters you wrote yourselves? I think they prefer letters from 3rd parties addressed to you both.

It's a letter we sent (from both of us) with our signatures to the management and it was sent back to us with a letter of acknowledgment. It is signed and stamped by the management of the rental place.

I don't know who to ask to adjust the title of the TOPIC...can anyone help?!?

I tried to look it up and see if anyone started the August topic and couldn't find it...so here I am

I will file in about 1 week but I am putting together our paperwork.

Here is what I have so far:

-I-751

-joint tax returns 2007,2008,2009

-letter from bank stating that we have a joint checking account w/ direct deposit from both our employers

-joint auto insurance for both cars

-joint credit cards

-letter from 2010 on both names informing that we paid off personal loan took together in 2007 from our bank

-letter from both of us to inform of vacating rental apartment and letter of acceptance on both our names from the management

-bought new home: - loan application on both names

- loan commitment on both names

- closing documents

- letter on both names about the mortgage being sold

- tax year end info from mortgage company

- monthly payment info

-joint homeowner insurance

-utilities bill on both names from rental place and our current purchased home

-telephone bill (cell phones) family plan

-we both have our own health insurance through our work but we signed letter allow to disclose personal info to each other so I am attaching the acceptance letters we got from the insurance companies

-travel info from places we went together : -plane tickets itinerary; hotel receipts all on both our names

-pictures

Any other ideas about what we are missing or if I should take out from the stuff mentioned above?

Chavely I am in the same situation. I got my CG in Nov of 2008 and I decided just now to change my name as we are buying a property.I went to social security and they told me that I need to first change it on my CG...so I will just wait until 2010 when I will remove conditions because with all the expenses we have with buying a house there is no way I will pay $370 for a card that I will use for less than 1 year...

I am surprised they let you change your social security card...as I told you they told me to come back with the new name on GC...

I don't know that the name matters that much or if the info I tell you here will be relevant to your case at all but...

I did happen to talk to my circuit clerk today about getting my step-daughters name changed, she said that if I adopt or attempt a name change before my step-daughter gets her citizenship that it is a real pain in the butt. She said I will have to hire a lawyer if I want to do it right .. according to her the name change itself is granted thru the court first and then all name changes elsewhere are done by providing proof of the name change to them, but to get it accomplished a lawyer will have to fill out several papers, supply birth certificate, get paperwork from the philippines, etc. but if I wait another year and she becomes naturalized then I pay $160 and I can get it done within a week without a lawyer.

Now, that being said .. my step-daughter is a minor and that may play into the complication involved with her name change. Since you are not a minor and had the opportunity to change your name at the time of your marriage it may be as simple as contacting your circuit clerk (or whoever you get a marriage license from in your state) and signing a paper. I'm sure changing your name thru the bank, uscis, ssa, irs, etc. etc. is what will take some time ..

I got my green card a year ago in November. I never changed my name because of various reasons but now we are buying a house and we want to have the same last name on the mortgage loan and all the other papers.

What do I need to do? Do I starts with USCIS or do I start with SSA?

Does anyone know how long does it take or what is the fee for this?

Should I wait until we apply next year for my permanent resident card and just change the name on our loan at that time?

Hello everyone.

Another June filer here. After almost 7 mos. of filing my AOS, I got a RFE letter from USCIS asking for certification of good conduct. Here is the complete message we got from them:

*** CERTIFICATION OF GOOD CONDUCT: The applicant's fingerprints have twice been rejected as "illegible." Additional evidence is required to continue processing the adjustment of status application. Please provide a letter issued by the local law enforcement agency (County Sheriff's Office or Local Police Department) indicating the applicant has "no criminal record." The record search should include all the aliases (all other names) the application may have used in the past. A separate letter is required for each law enforcement district in which the applicant has resided during the previous five years.

That's what they want from us. We just went to the state police office and they gave us the letter. They even had my fingerprints taken and printed out a copy in an official sheet of paper. The police said my prints are just fine. And i think based on the printed copy of my prints USCIS can access my digital prints from the PSP office.

My question is, are those enough to send to CIS? Will that satisfy them? I still have a copy of my barangay clearance, police clearance and NBI clearance from my country but they are outdated since i got them 3 months before i left PI. I was thinking of making a copy of those too and send to them together with the letter we got from PSP and the copy of my prints.

I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.

Sorry..no idea...but, have you tried calling their 1-800 number? I am pretty sure that they would be able to answer you that question..if not...try calling the Legal Aid Society from your city...
