Hello June filers, one more is joining the group I sent the docs on June 19 and they were received on the 20th. No email yet and the check stil hasn't been cashed. Local office is Milwaukee, WI.

First step is to study your state law...some states give you a deadline to change last name after marriage and you have to go through court system to do it once the allowed time is gone.

Let's say that you are within the grace time:

1. start with Social Security office, where you'll take in your green card, marriage licence, id =it will take 2-4 weeks to get your new SS. When you receive your new social with your new married name you can change your ID, then start calling all credit cards, mortgage, etc etc

Usually banks, mortgage and insurance companies will ask you to provide copies of SS# and letters of requests in order to update your name. Credit cards are solved with a call.

2. contact UK embassy or check their website for info on registering marriage/name change. Once you record your marriage in UK you can apply for a new passport

CONGRTAS to all of you that recently got approved!!!!All the nerve-wracking months of waiting seem so far away when the confirmation letter shows up in the mail!!!

It doesn't matter if you sent the file to CSC or VSC...that's not what's holding up the processing of your case. As soon as your fingerprints are cleared your file is being sent to the local office. It is up to them at this point and it all depends on how busy they are to get to your file and make a decision. As you can see in CSC timeline for August filers, the first approval was for someone from ST Louis in less than 1 month and 1/2 and that just shows that their office is not backed up...that's obviously not the case for the West Coast: LA, San Fran, San Jose...they are still waiting and it's all due to their busy local offices.

For those who received the approval letter and GC in the mail, could you please tell us where they were sent from? Service Centers or Local Offices?

I'm just curious if the adjudication usually be made by service center or local office.

It turns out that the letter that I got today in the mail is from the local office... that is the APPROVAL LETTER if I didn't mention yet! :dance: :dance:

Does Anyone know that who is reviewing our documents?

Our Local USCIS Office or California Service Center?

I would say our local office, but when you go to check the processing times under local office form 751 doesn't show up...so I guess it's the CSC.

On the other hand, it's my understanding that the confirmation letter of approval you are getting it from the local office. Confusing...I know! :bonk: :bonk:

I sent my I-751 ~ 07/25/ 2010 to CSC , Biometrics 09/08/2010.... still waiting. I am not sure what is going on.? Any input friends ..

there are many of us in your situation, so I for one I'm not stressing about it...I guess we're ok until we are in the national predicted time frame...I will start worrying when the 6 months are up...

I'm a September filer and havent received my biometric notice. Its going to be a month, this weekend. People before me and after me have received the notice. Just wondering if this is normal with Santa Ana.

oh wow...that sucks,but as far as I've seen it's not uncommon though.

DO_CSC...I looked at our August list and even though some people mentioned their local office, none of them have St Ana...but there are some filers who preferred not to share their local office...who knows??maybe one of them is your lucky person! why do you ask?

Are we still talking about USCIS biometrics officers?????? Probably I should relocate a little more north and get my stuff done in Oakland

My experiences have been very weird with biometrics officers......

One time the guy was sharing with me how his "girl" is seeing some other guy and he's thinking about killing him.... huuuuuuh ?????????

Another time I though I got enlisted in the Army - the lady was too aggressive... I counted my fingers when I left the facility to make sure all 10 still were attached....

I had the same officer 2yrs ago and this year, and the first year he couldn't have been more rude and "aggressive"...barely said anything. The second time I told him that I remember him, he asked if it was good or bad, and I said "not really the best". He started a pretty pleasant conversation that he ended as soon as someone entered the room, then mentioned the fact that it's not personal, it's just their policy not to talk to the "customers". Ha...funny thing he said that, as the other biometric person was having the time of her life with her "customer"...whatever! give me my green card, I don;t care about your stories or behavior, it's all part of the process!

Updating my info -- can't remember when we got the NOA, but we went in for the biometrics in Oakland yesterday. The woman who took the fingerprints told my husband that he'd be getting his new green card "in a couple of weeks" -- WHAT??? Really?

We shall see!

So quiet here...not much happening w/ August filers...

Even with the biometrics letter, it may still not show anything online. In my wife's

case, it took about one week after she had her biometrics done before her case showed

online.

As soon as I came out from biometrics I checked the status online and for the first time it was there showing info....until then (even the morning of the biometrics) it was telling me that the case number could not be found...

Just finished w/ my bio appt. Great experience this time

Also, just checked the status online and it finally shows up!

Anyway, what I meant to say was that if any one of you (or in fact anyone else) has issues to ask and they think of doing it at the bio, best thing would be not to expect to get anything from the bio IO per se; you'd probably need to have made an INFOPASS app as well.

I hear you..I understand what you're saying about maybe trying to have some questions answered during the bio appt; the truth is that I wasn't thinking about it, not after the bad experience I had 2 years ago when I went in for the bio appt for the conditional gc. Anyways, I hope this time I will have a better experience..a less rude one

I just wanted to point out that if you received your ASC appointment letter which gives you the new and important Application Number, that number when input on the CIS website should give you your current status for your case (click on "Check File Status"). I presume that where it asks for a Receipt Number that you entered your new Application Number found at the ASC bio letter? No dashes, just the letters and digits all together? And it does not recognize your case?

Assuming this is true, it could be that they need to update their info, so check in a day or two and they should be there. This Application Number that you received with your biometrics letter IS the one that is meant to be used to track your case on-line. I know because mine works.

I would theorize at this stage that they simply have not updated some of the records, but I am sure others have had such experiences before and they might have other suggestions. The only three things I can think of are the obvious ones: a) Make sure you input your number in the correct format as it appears on the Biometrics letter without dashes; b) wait for a few days and try again to input the number; c) call up the National Hotline and ask if this matter is worth making an INFOPASS appointment for (or simply make one anyway if your local CIS office is close by).

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.......

I guess I will wait until the bio appt next week..if I won't be able to check the status of my application online once I'm done with that, I will see then about calling the 1.800 number or making the infopass appt.

I guess knowing that other can't access their case online is kind of relieving otherwise I would probably start panicking or something ))

Check cleared 8/20. Receipt# on canceled check gets no results on check my status. The receipt# is hand-written on face of check. Still waiting for NOA. Any thoughts? You guys are the greatest! This blog has been so helpful. Thank you all!!!

Our check was cleared on Tuesday, on Friday we got the NOA. Exactly one week later after the NOA we received the Bio appt letter in the mail.Looking at the other August filers timelines,this is the typical time frame. ..so don't worry, you should have the NOA in the mail sometimes at the middle of this coming week...
