I am shortly moving over to the US on a CR1 visa. My UK company has an office in the US. They are putting me on a US contract for tax & benefit purposes - to start immediately after I move - but I will continue to work remotely for the UK office as a secondee. My salary will be paid in USD by the US office but they will charge it back to my UK team. The two offices are part of the same organisation but different legal entities. Do I need to fill out a P85? My HR team said "most probably" but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this.

Yes as your leaving the UK and become a non tax resident :)

Yes, it is for I-140, it's not available online unfortunately, it must be posted to Texas.

I contacted USCIS again, they said they can't offer any advice for I-140 payments and they said I must contact my local embassy. My local embassy said they can't offer any advice for I-140 payments, and they said  must go back to USCIS.

I think just fly to the USA and get a money order and post it from there. I don’t see any way out

Thanks, that would be amazing if possible but I'm not getting much information on the process by the banks.

Would I need to create a UK HSBC account in the first instance then call USA HSBC and request an international account. When I called they said only a debit card would be issued in the US without US residency (after opening a UK account). That was by calling US HSBC (local branch couldn't help).

I would create a HSBC bank account online and then go in to branch and ask for a US account.

However, I've just read they've sold their US retail banking subsidiary off: https://www.hsbc.com/news-and-media/media-releases/2021/hsbc-exits-us-mass-market-retail-banking

I am not sure if this is possible. I think its worth asking in branch for of the following banks HSBC/Santandar and Barclays.

Also, any luck with Revolut/Monzo etc?

Thanks but unfortunately I don't know anyone in the US who I can ask to create a cheque for me etc.

I asked HSBC and they said they can create a cashiers cheque in dollars BUT it will be from a UK organisation as the US subsidiary is a separate entity.

Therefore it will read 'HSBC United Kingdom' etc. on the cheque, not their US counter-part. Same for other banks (I asked a few!)

Also on the advice form it says:

If you live outside the United States, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate for instructions on the method of payment.

I did ask the nearest (London) US Embassy asked me to go back to USCIS in the US as they couldn't help.

HSBC/Barclays can set you up with a checking account in the USA and they usually give a cheque book or (mastercard).

    Hi

Anyone know what this means? Will they accept a cashier's cheque from a UK bank made out in dollars? Just to mention, the bank said that it will have the UK bank name on it and even though they have subsidiary in the US, they can't make the cheque from that subsidiary as it's a completely separate entity.

Or does it need to be a cheque or money order from the US (which essentially means I have to fly out to the US get a money order, come back to the UK and post the money order back to the US as part of the application).

I'm filing a petition for Alien worker from the UK and it's an application by post only. Credit cards aren't accepted (on the credit card form it says that the credit card must be from a US bank) and neither are online payments.

I contacted the UK embassy for advice but they ask me to contact USCIS but USCIS ask me to contact the UK embassy.

    Thanks

Do you bank with HSBC or Barclays?

    End of April.

So my guess is DQ dates of Feb 16-?? will get early May? But I honestly have no idea. I really thought I would have the interview end of April, so not being a part of that IL batch has derailed a lot of my plans.

I think potentially they could be end of April as that last one I saw was 20th. There is a lot of earlier April ones too.

Hi! First of all, do not panick! You've already made it through the hardest part.

Second, your interview letter is most likely going to come in on February 28th or March 1st. We had to wait for more than a month to get it too. (DQ on 10/27, IL on 11/30).

When I researched the scheduling patterns, I came to conclusion that they only send letters once a month at the end of the month.

So just sit tight and it's coming soon.

    Thank you.

I was DQ'd 1st week of January so the waiting time is difficult.

Saw ILs just came out today looks like for February 1-15 DQs? Anyone get an IL today? Or are still waiting from February DQ dates?

We were DQd February 16th and didn't get an IL today. I'm not sure if we did something wrong? Or just missed their cutoff? I wish they would do things on a regular cadence.

I am not sure how it all works tbf  but I think there will be more ILs in early March.

  9. Thanks for all your help the medical people were super nice!

It seems to have gone well fingers crossed.

You do not need to take your own photos as they take them.

Also just take your GP summary which has your vaccinations, allergies, medical consultations and medical history. There is no need to take all your history from birth etc.

If you have children take the red books no matter the age tbf. It will make it easier to workout the vaccinations.

Also, the urine sample is age specific and some people might have it. Don't stress if they don't ask you for one.

Anyone know when to maybe expect the next round of interview letters? We were DQ'ed on Feb 6 so I think we must've just missed the last batch

    Hi Welcome to the forum.

There is no real way to determine when IL are sent.

For example in Jan it was sent on the 11th Jan and then Feb it was 7th. However, in December IL's were sent twice. There has been months were they are just skipped too.

I do think Feb might get two IL's rounds as there is a lot of people waiting still and that DQ's are happening quicker now too.

  11. I need someone advice regarding the NVC email. Which email can I use as proof for the medical? As the embassy states they want proof of case numbers and type of visa.

The email I have from NVC has the case number. Thanks in advance

You should be fine with the basic summary. I was really panicking for my medical and interview and they were both so much easier and relaxed than I had imagined. I had way too much paperwork for both appointments 😂. I actually really enjoyed my interview, they were so lovely, I really felt like the immigrant applicants got special treatment. My passport and visa is scheduled for delivery by the courier tomorrow.  Good luck to you, you are almost there.

Wow thank you for the insight! Congratulations on the passport and completing the journey

I’ve got the medical booked finally!

Hi Guys, sorry to butt in but I had my medical last week and I had a nightmare with my GP too with this report. Please don’t stress yourself too much with this, I had a 33 page report which my Gp made such a fuss about and it went back to my birth and I’m in my 50’s😂.  They medical people do not want a long document, they just want a basic summary showing the medication that you are on and vaccines. This was literally a 3 page document that I printed off myself from my online portal with my GP. I’m not saying don’t take the full report, you definitely need to produce something, but if you can get a basic summary as well or print one off yourself then take that along and offer that up. I gave them my print off and mentioned to them that I also had a full summary. They said the info they needed was all there so the full report wasn’t needed.
Also FYI you do not get told the results whilst you are there. They send off the blood,   Urine sample and chest X-ray to a lab. They say to allow 5 working days and if you don’t hear from them then all good.

thank you I’ve been given the gp summary report and was panicking I need the full report which I am struggling to get!
