  1. The Visa Journey Guide section (K1 Adjustment of Status Tips) states that Oklahoma residents need to file AOS in person at the OKC office.

Special Information for persons living in the jurisdiction of:

    --o DALLAS DISTRICT OFFICE

    --o EL PASO DISTRICT OFFICE

    --o OKLAHOMA CITY SUBOFFICE

Effective October 23, 2006, if you are residing within the jurisdiction of the Dallas District Office, and effective

    A. Location of filing and scheduling of appointment to file Form I-485 in person.

If you are filing the Form I-485 based on the criteria specified above, you must file in person at the office that

corresponds to your jurisdiction. To file in person, you must obtain an appointment through

InfoPass, an online appointment request system, which can be found at http://infopass.uscis.gov/.

Once you have selected a date and time for the appointment, you should print the appointment

notice, which shows the time, date and location of the appointment, and present it when appearing to file your Form

    I-485 in person.

    B. Documents to bring to the Infopass appointment.

At the InfoPass appointment, you must bring the following documents:

    1) Form I-485 with supporting documentation and/or evidence of eligibility (e.g. Form I-797, Notice of Action, or

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, or Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or

Special Immigrant, if applicable, Form G-325A, Biographic Information, Form I-693,

Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status, Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, etc.); and

    2) Required fees in the form of a cashier’s check or money order made payable to Department of Homeland

Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

  2. I got an RFE for the same thing. There seem to be a number of RFE's for this oversight. It is confusing because I too thought that section was for current military personnel. You need to answer question 2, yes or no. If you answer yes, then you need to provide more information on a second sheet and answer question 3. I answered no on my RFE and am still waiting for the NOA2 but I have seen others approved in a couple weeks after returning the RFE. Good luck.

  3. Waiting is hard, we all know and have experienced that. That is part of the process and nothing will change that. Since the VSC is handling your petition plan on 3 to 4 months. If you get an approval sooner then consider yourself lucky. Patience is needed in this endeavor or you will drive yourself crazy. Anyway, good luck in your journey.

  4. Hmmm. So how did you even get the information about your case not being reviewed by an adjudicator? I have called that national number a handful of times and gotten absolutely no information of value on my case. I'm actually wondering why they even have a phone number to call in the first place.

My biggest problem is that there is no transparency. Why not just keep an updated case progress for each file online? Tell me what steps are being taken and how far along I am--and I mean more detail than what we get right now.

Anyway, I'll just keep calling periodically and checking online each day but good luck to you as well........I am truly kicking myself for not ensuring that the paperwork got filled out correctly the first time around...That was a big mistake.

I got that information because I was fortunate enough to have a very nice lady answer my call and did more than the usual unpleasant people manning their phones. Also, she was at the VSC, not the customer service center, who can't tell you anything about your case that you don't already know.

  5. Hi,

I filed a 1-129F Petiton for my fiance on Feb 28, 2008 and the paperwork came back because I failed to check the criminal history box (which I still am shock about because I poured over the paperwork again and again before sending it). Now, just to be clear, I wasn't trying to hide anything--my fiance and I don't have any criminial history--I don't even have a speeding ticket to my name. So i sent back the paperwork corrected.

The next touch was April 29, 2008 saying Vermont Service Center received the paperwork and that I should expect a written decision within 60 days. I understand that's well within the overall 6 month processing times allotted.

Well, 60 days has passed and when I called the Customer Service, they said they'd request for a status from the service center but center has at least 30 days to respond to that request for status.

I haven't heard anything back yet and I'm just curious as I've seen some of these quick TAT on the timelines, how much did I set my paperwork back when I needed to resend it with a revision? Does it just get tucked back beneath the pile or should I be worried that I have some serious issues with whatever the service center does on this initial approval round? I can't fathom what those issues might be but I'm becoming more and more dismayed with the whole process (and I know from reading this forum, I'm not the only frustrated person so I do have perspective). Nevetheless, it's just really tiring....

I did the same exact thing, got the RFE, responded (would have been sooner if I wasn't in the Philippines for 3 weeks when it was sent), the 60 days have passed and called the Service Center. All they told me is it hasn't been seen yet by the adjudicator who requested the RFE, and they couldn't give me any timeline about when it might get looked at again. I hope your outcome is different than mine so far. Good luck.

  6. NOA1....12 Feb

    NOA2....?????? still waiting :help:

    We filed at VSC

Did you already inquire about your case?

There's nothing to lose to call them, right?

    Good luck!

I've called 2 times and get the same info thats on the website so they aren't a big help, but I will be calling on 30 June if I don't hear anything by then as that is 60 days after they received the RFE back. Thanks.

  7. That is the standard response and we are still waiting. Our 60 days will be up on 28 June, so if there is no approval by then I will be calling on 30 June. Our RFE was for a minor issue of not marking a box on the I-129F and would have been returned to VSC sooner had I not been in the Philippines for 3 weeks while the RFE was sitting in the Post Office. I have noticed that most hear something within a month or sooner after the service center recieves the reply. Good luck.
