Hello.
I received an AOS interview letter yesterday and there is one thing which isn't clear to me....
On the letter received, it tells us to bring "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application."
Are they telling us to bring copy of supporting docs which we submitted with our original AOS application?
or
Are they telling us to bring copy of supporting docs which we will bring to the AOS interview with us so that they can keep the copy?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I think they just want to verify that the copy you sent with your application is a true and correct copy, if needed. So they'll look at the copy of your Passport, and then verify it by looking at the real thing.

I found this site the other day. It's pretty cool, if you like samples and what not. Everyday they post new free stuff on them. Enjoy

You don't even need to register on the site to use it!

Dr. Phan in Lynnwood also only charges $50 and he's been doing it for 15 years-they didn't mention a thing to me about having the whole physical done. They were also EXTREMELY helpful. I was overdue for my HPV and the receptionist/nurse (whichever she was) called around to all sorts of offices finding who could give me the shot the earliest. I'd highly recommend them.
Do you guys know if there is a Seattle forum? I haven't been able to find one.

Hi,
Do ya'll think the following is enough for evidence? Thanks so much for reading; I would value and appreciate anyone's opinion. Good luck with your situation, whatever it is.
Evidence:
Several Holiday cards postmarked and addressed to both of us; we also have a couple of cards from earlier in the year from friends for baby shower and wedding invitations.
3 notarized affidavit letters from friends
Health Insurance Card issued from my employer in my wife’s name
Life Insurance in both names
Employment beneficiary letter designating my wife as my beneficiary
Monthly Bills: (Phone bill, Electrical bill and Comcast Cable TV in both of our names
Joint bank account statement in both our names
Photos spanning over almost 2 years including wedding, honeymoon, and miscellaneous photos
I already have an old car; we are ironically looking at getting a new one at some point in both our names, but I doubt we will be able to before the interview. My house is only in my name for now; I doubt I will be able to change it to both names before interview. I'm hoping my existing info that I specified is enough.
It definately sounds like more than I'll have!

We are already preparing the papers for filing the AOS. In regards about the payment for I-483 and biometrics fee which is 1,010 dollar, I would like to ask what is exact name that we will write on the CASHIER'S CHECK? Is it only like this:
Pay to the order of: USCIS
Is this it or there's a specific name where we pay the fee ($1,010)??
Thank you
Don't use the acronym. They want it fully written out as US Department of Homeland Security.
-
It seems things have been slow for us recently. Hopefully we'll all start getting some USCIS action soon!

Everyone needs police certificates of all places where you have lived for mroe than 6 months since you were 16. It is in the instructions.
Oh my ..oh my....I'm panicking right now. I'm from canada, do I need to request a police clearance in Canada?
If you came in on a K-1 Visa then you should already have one.

Hi. i just got my notice for my interview in Feb. I filed on nov 14. what happens at the end of the interview? i was looking thru the site and i see that many others have had their 485s touched but mine has not shown any touches. yet i got the interview in feb. i haven't received word on the ead yet. is that normal? i am not complaining but i just wanna have an idea as to exactly how far along my process is.
Can you please update your timeline. It helps us all out.

*gulp*
am I the only one?
Hey there. I'm filing in Seattle as well. How's your process been going?
-
Or at least just sign the legal papers and have the ceremony at the end of February still.

My I-94 is going to expire on the 17th of jan. Is it required to have a valid I-94 before filing for AOS? What if my I-94 expires before I file my AOS? What will happen? Thanks!!
It is okay to file for AOS after your I-94 expires. Although during that time you'll be considered out of status, but once you finally send it in, then you'll have a status again. Can't remember what it's called... sorry. You're okay though!

I'm not a K filler. The delay on my file is NOT making me angry on the people posting here - like they have anything to do with how USCIS moves around files (and I am really happy for them all and for their families, husbands, wives and babies) .. but it really makes me angry on the case handler and USCIS that did not send the biometrics appointment yet, 40 days after case receipt at MSC.
This, I think, is good enough reason for me to be concerned and frenetically reload the case status page on the USCIS webpage, check the mailbox and think about reasons and explanations, maybe something missing in my file (though by this time I should have received an RFE, right?), or maybe the neighbor's mailbox overflowing with papers and maybe my notice is inside it (nobody lives in that apartment so I dream of me using a screw driver to see if my envelope is not stuck in that mailbox).
I bet many of those posting here do check their mailboxes too waiting for the eagle stamped on a corner...the thing is, they do get the envelopes:))
PS: this Bustamante buy/gal at the Chicago lockbox signed for receipt of my file too:))
I saw someone in the December filers who's package was also accepted by Bustamante and they haven't received their biometrics yet either...

Plus your food costs and everything else in general will be more expensive because you'll be doing it for 2 people living seperately.

Why can't she just live with you at your parents house?
I guess the main reason was it would be awkward and we wouldn't have as much privacy. But I guess if that's my only option at this point then I have to do it.
I am just barely above the "poverty" minimum so I can't afford even a studio apartment here. I live in Southern California so you can imagine that it is not cheap here.
My only option was to get her a room but most people dont rent rooms 2 couples. And I didn't want to completely leave home just yet.
I guess we will just have to stick it out at my parents place. That's gonna be awkward definitely. They are really religious........
If they are really religious then it shouldn't matter if you are married. They will be happy for you and it won't be awkward.

Hi! I accompanied my wife today for her medical examination appointment. She had 3 shots MMR, DPT and HPV plus the TB skin test exam. I cant believe that it will cost us 464$ to have that all!!
How much did you pay for your medical exam? Is HPV really needed? or we just been ripped off by that doctor. He said that effective august 2008 HPV vaccine is needed for woman below 27 yrs old. My wife is 26 yrs old. And were both shocked when we are told that its 464$. We are expecting that it should be less than 300$.
Thanks.
If she has health insurance already they should probably cover the HPV vaccine. Mine did.

I was reading in the AOS FAQ section that during their interview they needed to show evidence of sharing a common address. Is this mandatory for permanent residency to be granted? Is the marriage not enough?
Let me explain. I am going to rent a room for my wife when she comes here on the k-1. I still live with my folks and I want to keep one foot in their house while I finish school & get a real job. And most rooms for rent dont want couples. Plus I can't afford my own aparment yet. I just barely pass the poverty minimums. So if my wife lives in an room in an apartment complex close by but I still live at home will that negatively affect our AOS? Any advice, insight? Thank you all!
-Kyle
I'd say it would. Plus, unless she has a ton of savings, or you/someone else is supporting her, how is she going to afford living in her own apartment?
-
how is everyone putting together their stuff for the interview? mine is feb. 10 in tucson az. im so nervous...i know i have nothing to worry about because my marriage was entered in good faith...but its still nerve wrecking!
i have pictures and some bills...and me and my husband both have credit cards...but im not on the actual statement...im just an authorized user..and we are both on BofA statements, but we each have our own bank...he has Chase and I have Wells Fargo...and my mother in law is renting us her house in tucson...but she never gave us an official aggreement or "contract"...
any suggestions would help!!!
I'm in the same sort of situation as you are!

My husband and I live with his parents. (We're 22 and 23) We are on seperate health insurances because his is under his parents still, we do have joint bank accounts, I have my DL and SSN in my married name, but can anyone think of other good proof of relationship for our interview other than pictures? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I just looked up online and check my status ..it changed from "case received and still pending" to now " card production ordered"
Current Status: Card production ordered.
On December 31, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
I'm wondering does that mean my case is approved?how long does it take for me to receive a 2 years condition green card in the mail?
Thanks and Happy New Year!!
Can you please update your timeline?
It helps us all to know how close we are!

OMG!!! I got the 4th appointment for fingerprints!!! Its crazy. They like making me go there every week.
They said that my fingerprints are too "mild"
When I was at POE the lady said to rub my fingers on my forehead to get some oil on them and then try again, it seemed to work better. Maybe give that a try? Good Luck!

Hey All,
Just wondering about something. I'm a dental hygienist and I will need to take some upgrading courses at a college here in order to be able to work as a qualified and legal dental hygienist.
When I receive my EAD does that also allow me to go to school? Or can I legally go to school now? Any help would be great!
Happy Holidays!
Candace
AOS FILERS: NOVEMBER 2008
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports

I've been looking at the OCT. chart for EAD/AP/AOS and it seems that people are generally approved for their EAD 4-6 weeks after their biometrics appointment. Even if their case was received earlier than someone elses. I've still got a few weeks to go seeing as how my biometrics was just a week ago. Of course that doesn't stop me from frequently checking the USCIS website...
