This is so crazy that I had to share regarding our AOS timeline...but this also proves that there is no rhyme or reason as to order of how things get processed by USCIS.
- We mailed our AOS packet to Carol Stream Illinois on January 17th, 2023
- Marked by USCIS as received on January 25th, 2023
- Biometrics taken on February 21, 2023
- No interview was ever done
- Case went to approved status on March 17th, 2023
It took two months exactly from date mailed to AOS approval. We live in Nebraska and it is marriage based AOS from K1. Our case went straight to National Benefits Center and was never forwarded to local field office.
Good luck to everyone!!

Fiancé had he interview this morning and we were approved. She said it went super easy, the person conducting the interview was actually in a hurry so it seemed expedited, few generic questions, asked about an ESTA that had been canceled last year when we were traveling from Mexico to US, but other than that smooth sailing. She was calling me with the news less than 30 minutes from the start time of her appt.
Hey what did you guys do for your I-134? I'm confused on what to do for this step...does the below mean we're done? Any help would be appreciated.

Congrats! This is great to hear! Approved 30 days after In Transit email from NVC right? 😃

We got an invoice number, but K1 doesnt use it. The paying of the fees is where things got confusing for us. After the medical she called the hotline to try and make an appt, the hotline person created an account online for her to login and then pay the fee and complete the ds160. They wont let you do any of that until they receive your case and probably until after medical.
That's strange. We followed the steps on travel.state.gov and already filled out the DS-160 using the link on this page https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html
It's when we go to pay the fee below is when we didn't know what to do because it asks for your invoice number.
https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx --> after you enter your case number it asks for your invoice number which we don't have.

Congratulations,
We reached out to VisaTallinn@state.gov and said our packet is on the way and asked if we can schedule a medical. Thanks! How did you pay your DS-160 application fee without your invoice ID? The document sent to me via email only had our NVC case number. We're a bit confused. Thanks for any help!

@Eric10112021 We emailed the Tallinn embassy to say to see if we could schedule the medical at this point and they said sure go ahead.
Who exactly did you email and where did you schedule it at? 🤔

they didnt respond to my request but to hers, assuming because her email is on the application.
Anyhow, she wrote them last Thursday said we're ready for appt, they responded Monday saying that her appointment is Oct 12. So that went really fast. We never received any of the instruction packets that have been mentioned before, but I've spent enough time on here that we knew what to do at each step. We went ahead and booked flights for the week after her interview, should be enough time to complete the addition of the visa to her passport. 🤞
😲😲😲
What did you do next?!?!

She provided the original document because she had it apostilled, not sure if it was required or not but did it anyhow. Id just find a translator and they'll give you the instructions. she found them here https://www.just.ee/en/legal-services/sworn-translators
Also, it seems we have to make the appointment directly with the embassy rather than over the automated system. We confirmed with a friend that did it a few years ago that she emailed and said she's ready and they sent her back an interview date. I think we kind of messed up their normal process because we were reaching and pushing them since before they even received the case, lol. So we have an email out to them since yesterday asking for appointment, I assume we'll hear monday.
Hoping you heard back from the embassy yesterday?!

She has police records for Estonia and Spain, both have been translated. I cant recall if she did it in person or online. I will ask and let you know.
Thanks man, also let us know how you get an interview scheduled...we obviously will probably run into the same issues.

We’ve emailed asking for advice. What’s even more frustrating is they limit the times you can load the page, I guess it’s like 12 times and then they lock you out until the next day. 🤷♂️
That's very strange and not something we wanted to hear when we're right behind you guys...😰
On another note, did your fiance take the criminal record in only Estonian or did you guys have it translated to English? Also, did your fiance have it mailed to her or just printed it out from digital delivery?

Medical is next Thursday, no notice of receipt from embassy yet.
We just got an email from our Senator's Counsel & Constituent Services. They have been helping us get answers throughout the process. Here's what they received about our case from their official inquiry with NVC:
Thank you for your email concerning the immigrant visa petition filed with the assigned U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) receipt number WAC2190074xxx. The National Visa Center (NVC) received this immigrant visa petition on September 5, 2022. We are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 22-Aug-22. We will notify all parties on this case with further processing instructions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So it looks like it's taking USCIS about 40+ days to get cases to NVC as we were approved on 7/22/22. Also, as of 9/16/22 they are working cases received on 8/22/22.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure you can get that scheduled here in Estonia fairly quickly, yes? Let us know!

Earlier in the year I had good responsiveness from my congressional representative. He wasn't able to accomplish anything but he was at least trying.
I got impatient and reached out to him on Tuesday asking him to try and get an update on our case at the NVC, he responded today that he said they have our case and we should expect a case number soon. He said our case was received on the 17th, and they are currently processing cases received on the 15th.
It's not a lot of progress but an update with any progress is really nice to hear.
Still no case number? 🙁

Thanks for the update! We've also been working with our state Senator's office; honestly I think they helped us get the I-129F approval as our RFE response had just been sitting there for 75+ days. They closed our case at the Senator's office after our I-129F approval on 7/22 but I just reached back out to them again on Monday to help again with an NVC inquiry. The lady there has been extremely helpful and it'll be interesting to see if she gets the same information you got from your congressional rep. And yes I agree on the "progress", it's the small victories for us at this point and it's just nice to have anyone express interest in helping. That's sad to say but it's true.
Thanks again!

No, we’re only 39 days, I wouldn’t expect until
next week at the absolute earliest. I even requested another copy of noa2 which we have yet to receive.
@Mari_Justin still nothing?

Feels to me like theyre skipping an entire skip whee they notify of NVC receipt and generate case #, and going straight to shipped to consulate. This seems very dependent on the consulate and the case load. Saw in the June thread someone just got their case number and "ready for appointment" 44 days after NOA2 which was in the end of July. So some of us July filers could be seeing some progress early next week?
@Mari_Justin Have you still not received your case number?

As of Monday we hadn’t received our notice yet. I’m in Estonia currently and won’t be able to check again till the 2nd. Did the inquiry form and it said we’ll receive a response by August 23rd. Lol
@Mari_Justin still nothing from NVC?

I guess i'll kick off this thread. NOA2 on July 8th. Waiting (im)patiently for the confirmation in the mail for further instructions.
@Mari_Justin keep in touch through your process with Estonia embassy. We have NOA2 7/22 so we're hopefully right behind you!

Going 435 days finally heard back but is not the greatest news… we got RFE🥴 but at least we know that USCIS has looked over our case and is not just endless waiting. Trust me it will come to you just a matter of time and whether you persevere and keep waiting. I know is painful to be separated from fiance or fiancée for such a long time, but don’t let time go wasted! Keep waiting and keep holding onto faith. Now… on we go waiting for another 1/2 months for response from RFE🥴
if anyone know how long on average they respond to RFE let me know. So we can brace ourselves for more waiting.
We have been waiting 48 days now...USCIS received our RFE response on 5/11/22. It seems like we are, unluckily, one of the longest waits I've seen in regard to an approval from RFE.

That makes me feel MUCH worse, lol. 😣
Yay Eesti! Beautiful place, I just got back from there about 3 weeks ago and should be heading back maybe 4 weeks from now.I'm sorry...😑
Even smaller world, I was also there for 3 months and just got back the middle of May! I plan on going back as well once we get approved at USCIS! I think we started this process at the WORST time possible. To think, if only we had submitted two months earlier we'd probably be done with this process. Instead we're heading into month 15...I've never seen such an inept group when it comes to inventory management. I work in that same type of field and it just drives me crazy how poorly they manage/work their inventory. Every day is like Groundhog's Day refreshing the app and watching updates. Very defeating.

Waiting on NOA2 after RFE Received 18 days ago. I've seen these RFEs get approved in 8 days and as long as 2 months. This is so damn frustrating.
If it makes you feel any better, we sent our RFE response on 5/11/22...47 days later and still nothing...
Also, small world, my fiancé is from Estonia as well!
December 2022 - AOS Filers
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
Thanks!
I think if the beginning three alpha characters of your number are "MSC" that means it went to the National Benefits Center. I would think you would see a status update of being forwarded to local field office if that's the action that was taken on your case...but I'm not any sort of expert.
Also, update, we got our I-797 notice of approval in the mail on Friday 3/23. So it legitimately took almost exactly 2 months from our submission to receiving approval letter in the mail. Unreal turnaround time in a good way for once!
