No - I have a son. He's 14 and he lives in Las Vegas with his father. He's here with me for the summer - so that's another reason for the local trips, Six Flags, Sea World, etc. My son is begging for me to take him on the trip to Jamaica - more money. I'm looking at some options now. I going to rely on my VJ family to get a good idea of where to stay when the time comes to start making arrangements. Yeah - the piggy bank is going to be drained drastically.

Hello - I don't have any summer trips planned - as far as Jamiaca. Just local trips this summer. My daughter graduates 2010 - and I promised her that I would take her to Jamaica as her graduation gift (promised her in 2006). So I'm saving money for that and all the "other" graduation stuff.

Pam..in JA ost schools have dental trips..do u guys notice how many ppl in JA have alot of dental caries...

And on those dental trips - do the children get their teeth cleaned. What if the parents can't afford it? Then what happens.? The amount the cousin needed wasn't bad - but mi being a newbie to the "send money" trail I sent a nice sum the week prior to the dentist incident. Enough for at least 10 children to get their damn teeth cleaned . After this happened I told the ex - we will send money monthly and your cousin will have to make do. And if she can't then she can just wait to you start working.

We are getting those calls now too but they aren't just asking for money they are asking for hubby to find a way to bring dem a foreign. His brother even asked him to meet a woman for him who will bring him up. I went the He## off cause I didn't think he handled it well - an uncomfortable laugh and saying mi gon see what mi fi do.

My ex had the nerve to bring his brother's passport photos with him and he gone ask me do you think any of your friends, cousins, or co-workers would be interested - WTH. That was a flag - damnit jim

Wakey - NO....they just pulled my husband's tooth whenever he went to dentist in Jamaica.

We went to dentist here. He needs some fillings..but no where near $5000..

I wish our was that simple. If they pull every tooth they plan to work on for him he would be bare mouth! He needs root canals, crowns, bridges, and wisdom teeth pulled.

Just wondering - do they have a dental office in your area that do work on a slidding scale fee? We have one here connected with the health department.

Its not only pickney madda calling - my ex left his youngest son with a cousin (have the same last name - from the same district). After he got here - I sent some money for him - it wasn't a week later the cousin called and said that the school said he needed his teeth cleaned and she needed some money. I was like WTH - we sent her enough money to get his teeth done. I asked my ex - I say when was the last time your son went to the dentist - he said he's never been. I blew a gasket - why was it so important to get his teeth cleaned now - he was ten and had never been to see a dentist. My children started going to damn dentist at like 3-4 years old. I understand that its different in Jamaica - I didn't believe the school would tell them that unless he was complaining of tooth pain or something. Mi tink de cousin tink I'm made of gold and have some ov de money trees growing in mi yaad.

Kimmy my skin use to break out all the time and when I went to Jamaica to live for a year my grandmother gave me a full washout (ALOE) girl and told me to drink mint tea and lots of watah. From then that's all I do really. I can't get the mint like the one from back home, but I drink a much water as I can. When I'm home for an extended period my hair grows a lot. I think it's the climate. I just don't get any hair on my legs. It's weird. Something about cinnamon too for your skin and hair. I'd have to call her and see if she remember.
