Al422 got a reaction from James D in travel after NOA2 but before interview?
Not at all. In fact it should help the interview because one of the things you need to establish is a genuine relationship. What better thing to show than shopping for your marital home together in the US? Give her copies of the docs generated by the real estate agent to show at the interview.

From the date the exam is performed, you have 6 months to enter the United States.

Actually a filing only counts when the Notice of Approval, the NOA2, hits. If you stopped the second one before the NOA2 hit, it does not count, such that your current one is actually #2. I did not see that part when I wrote my earlier post.
You can find out on the USCIS website if you stopped #2 in time to prevent the NOA2.

Al422 got a reaction from Sawa N Ab in K-1 - Drug Test
As far as you know they don't do drug testing. But they have your urine and blood, and they can use either of those to do drug tests in the back room without you ever knowing it.
I will never advise you to lie. My advice is to make your own decision as to what is best for you. But you should know factually that THC disappears from your blood 30 to 60 days after last use. So will it show up? You know better than we do about when you last smoked marijuana. Look at a calendar and decide.
Now let me tell you about my experience getting a Russian tourist visa. (I was there four times.) Each time I was asked point blank "Have you EVER used illegal drugs". Well there is no drug test as well as no drug arrests on my part, so I answered "no". I am not saying I used drugs; I am just saying there is no hard evidence I ever did. To make a long story short, I got all 4 visas quickly and easily.

MMR side effects are mild, often not getting worse than a headache, cough or fever. Extremely rare that it requires medical attention, much too rare to even worry about it.
The diseases it protects you from, on the other hand, can kill you. So it is worth it.
When my wife had hers, she had fever and headache for the first night and then a cough for three days. Nothing worse, and no doctor needed.

I think you should mention E Harmony. Since a lot of adjudicators are looking to see that the site is legit and not some fly by night operation, the fact that it has such a big name like E Harmony should be seen as something good.

Yes, 90 days form the date of POE.
The penalty for late filing, however, is minimal at best. They stil process your application and stil grant a green card if your AOS application is othterwise good.
Many people file late because the $1070 filing fee is more than a lot of people can afford.
Just don't file very late, like 6 months late. because then you will get some unwanted atttention.

Yeah thanks guys. Sorry I was such a pain in the butt for a while.
I know that the State Dept has reasons for doing what they do, but they don't share any of it with us, so we will never know what motivates them. We can guess, for example if you are an FBI agent working on a counter terrorism task force and your fiance's visa gets delayed, you can have a pretty good idea of what is holding it up. But most of the time you will never know.
And yes I have a pretty good idea of what jet lag feels like. Been there, done that, as we all have. But the farthest Candy ever flew from Phil has been Cyprus, so the Western Hemisphere will be a new adventure for her, along with 12 hours of jet lag added to 20 hours of flying. The bed is waiting for her at home whenever she pleases.
Now if you will all excuse me, I have a trip to JFK Airport to make and a bride to collect.

You might want to get the letter with original inked signature at the ready so if you get the RFE, you can respond the next day. If you never get RFE, good for you, but the next best thing is it happens and you have what they need already, ready to go out in the next day's mail.

Most countries freely give tourist visas to US citizens because US tourism = money to them.
So getting the visa is a simple affair. And you don't even need it unless your stay will be over 30 days.

Get married as soon as you can and then apply for AOS, EAD and AP at the same time.
He only needs the AP to travel, but things kind of have to happen in this order. If you do it this way, you have a good shot at getting the AP in time for the summer.
DON'T leave without the AP, Serious consequences for him if he does (basically consisting of he will be denied re-entry into the US).

Al422 got a reaction from Natasha&Noor in CEAC shows issued but in AP??
Technically, everyone gets AP. The AP that the horror stories are made of are the extended AP deals, the ones that last for many months.
But most AP is the normal post interview processing, the one that takes maybe 1 to 2 weeks or so. Someone has to look at the file to make sure nobody missed anything, the visa has to be printed out and attached to the passport, the consular unit has to sign off on a final inspection, etc. This routine stuff is also called AP and takes typically 1 to 2 weeks, although in a busy consulate it could take 2 months or more.
Just keep watching CEAC. Your status will probably change to ISSUED in about a week or so.
Also note that sometimes the status changes between AP and READY 2 or more times before it goes to ISSUED. This is also normal and nothing to worry about.
Just watch CEAC and wait for the ISSUED.

Al422 got a reaction from achilles19282 in Do we need to send chat/email logs as evidence of relationship?
They want to see that you did in fact use chat or email. When my wife went, I gave her a sample. I had over 1000 pages of chat, so I printed every 50th page, a total of 20 pages, and put a note on front that that is exactly what I did. Accepted fine, no problems.
It can be a source of questions by the interviewer, but if you already know what is on those pages, you can answer the questions just fine.

It is not a class A condition, i.e. a serious medical conditon that is likely to be harmful to others. If the doctor finds it, it will show up on your report, but not being type A, it will not affect your visa.

Al422 got a reaction from TwoChickies in 90 days to marry? How long do we actually have?
You must marry on or before day 90 after your arrival. This is strictly enforced, such that one day extra will blow the whole thing and cannot be fixed. So don't mess with it. Get it done on or before day 90.
As for filing AOS on or before day 90, technically you are supposed to, but in actual practice, nothing of consequence will happen if you file late. Technically you will be out of status and technically they can come for you and deport you, but the chances of that happening are about the same as being hit by a meteor. It just won't happen because they just don't do it.
If you file the AOS on or before day 90, you will never be out of status, as your 90 day status gets extended until USCIS takes final action on your AOS, with the end result being (hopefully) issuance of a green card. But if you file late, i.e. while you are out of status, the filing will not cure your out of status condition. You wil remain out of status until you get your green card. But again, even though they can come for you and deport you, they won't It simply does not happen. With 30 million illegals in this country and none of them even thinking about legalizing themselves, there is not a chance in hell they will take action against someone pursing AOS in good faith.
Many people file AOS late because they don't have the $1070 filing fee, and none of them were ever denied AOS or deported because they filed late.
The only potential fly in the ointment is if you are 6 months or more out of status and you leave the US and try to re-enter with your AP card. You could potentially be denied re-entry due to being out of status for over 6 months. This is not something to press your luck with.

Al422 got a reaction from imcoming in NVC or Department of State?
NVC is just the coordination arm of the State Department that collects approved petitions and routes them to the correct Consulate. Depending on the type of visa, NVC may also set you up for your interview appointment at that Consulate as well.
In your case, with the K-1, you set up your own interview using whatever system the Consulate in questions has in place. You should start reading that consulate's web site so when you are ready for your interview, you will already understand how their system works.

The examining doctor has the right to make his own medical evaluation regardless of what other doctors put in their reports. But having a report showing that this condition has already been treated with 100% success will go a long way to getting the examinng doctor to conclude the same way. In other word, don't worry.

As long as you continue to pursue the visa and do what the embassy wants, they will extend the deadline. They have the authority to do so for up to one year.
Just get them what they want as quickly as you can.

I used a certified copy of my birth certificate. Easy to get in New York City, just go on the Dept of Health website, pay $30 or something like that, and it shows up in the mail. I photocopied it for the I-797 and sent the original to my fiance for the interview. For $30, saved a lot of hassles.
