  1. Hello,

Current status: green card holder (diversity visa)

I own my own place where I reside in Miami.

I know that in case of a change of address, one needs to file a form to keep USCIS in the know of new address within 10 days of change. My question is, what is considered a change of address?

-Scenario 1: when on vacation in Europe for a couple of weeks, is this to be declared?

-Scenario 2: if staying for 3 months at my patner's who's in another state (whether I do a couple of back and forths between my condo and my partner's, or not, during that time)

    Thank you very much :)

  2. Hello,

I am wondering about the following, once we first enter in the US as a permanent resident:

    • I assume it takes a couple of weeks to receive the green card. In that case, is is possible to leave the US and come back, if the green card is not yet receive before leaving? Would it be possible to re-enter with passport and immigrant visa or could it be difficult?
    • About the social security number:
    1. My employer will issue a US contact for me; would it be possible to work in the US as soon as I enter as a permanent resident even if the SSN isn't received yet? Or do we have to wait for it (I assume it will be mailed)?
    2. How can we make sure we've requested a SSN to be issued? Is it at the POE? or was it in the DS260?

    Thank you very much :)

  3. Hello,

    I have a couple of follow-up questions.

-Are the certificates/diplomas enough to support the minimum education requirement? (I've had my master's diploma translated, as well as the high school one as suggested earlier). Or should I also bring transcripts (and have them translated)?

-Do we need to bring supporting evidence for all work and education listed in the DS 260 form, although this isn't mentioned anywhere?

    Thank you very much,

  4. Hello,

    Hope all is good!

When completing the DS-260 form, I had filled the field requesting an address in the US with the mention ''Not known at this point''.

I have my medical examination next week, and the clinic asked me that I provide the address in the US that matches the one given to the consulate.

So it seems I have to come up with an address - and I assume this will be requested also when I have my interview at the consulate mid-March.

What is the purpose of that address? Is it to send the card later on? Does it need to be define now?

    I see 2 options:

    1. provide the address of a friend in the US whom I know will be at the same address for a long time
    2. provide the address of a condo I own in Miami, but then the tenant is going to receive it so it's not optimal.

What would you suggest? or do you see another option?

On another note, to qualify it is requested to have a high school education if I'm not mistaken.

Does it work providing the proof of a BSc or MSc degree, or do we have to go back to grades obtained in high school?

    Thank you very much!

    Best
