  1. Just to add on, the NVC wait is not usually as long as the USCIS stage, but it all depends on consulate and how quickly they are scheduling interviews. The NVC will reach out by email with your case and invoice ID numbers, keep those safe as that's how you can check on your case. Once your case is open, you will be asked to pay the fees first before they open up the applications. It's all fairly straightforward from here. Congrats! The NVC is an exciting stage!

My I got a RFE from NVC on January 15th and i submitted the needed docs on the same day, does this mean I will be back in the Q ? Which means I would hear about my case sometimes around Feb 15th?

Seems like it. We also got an RFE earlier this month and haven't heard anything more yet. From all the other posts from folks who have had RFEs in the other monthly submission threads, it looks like the NVC will wait the 30 days to look at applications again.

  3. Hello all,

My spouse and I were married in September 2021 and are awaiting the CR-1 filed this past January. I (US citizen) sent my tax forms and my wife (beneficiary) received them today. There is only one tax representative in her country who can assist with the ITIN so she contacted them today about making an appointment. According to their timeline, it will be a "delay of 13-16 weeks for the assignment of the ITIN." From everything I've read, the delay is about 7 weeks, so are there any couples here who can give an account of how long that took? If it is going to take that long, should I ask for an extension for my taxes to be submitted so I don't get penalized? Also, they are wanting to charge her $300 USD to file everything, I'm not sure if that's normal or is a scam.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
