  1. Congrat's you look sooooo Happy and Beautiful...All the best to both of you!!!!!

    Terry & Stuart

    It was AMAZING!!!

We had so much fun. We did a traditional ceremony (my hometown) and then we had a reception (his hometown).

At the traditional ceremony there is this part before the bride comes out where sisters/cousins/etc will make the groom pay in order for the bride to come out for the ceremony. So, I was locked in my room with one of my bridesmaids and we were waiting. All of a sudden I hear shouting and yelling and different amounts of money being yelled out. Inusah's friends were negotiating on his behalf and it was hilarious to hear all of it.

I still have no idea what they paid <_<

    So, pictures:

This is at the traditional ceremony. We had it outside our house :) The women in the orange head-dresses are his sisters and cousins.

Me and my bridesmaids. The 2 standing on either side are my twin sisters. The others are my cousins:

With my Fiancee's interview date approaching (May 29th) and the fact that we have quadruple checked that she has everyscrap of paper she would ever need, this has been the longest week ever and I am sure next week will bring more of the same!!! We are jjst ready to get this thing over with and start the next chapter. The wait is killing me!!!!
  5. GREAT NEWS<<WELCOME HOME!!!

SO sorry guys for my long long long sabbatical!

Things have been kind of crazy with full time work and school! Please forgive me. Here is the update!

My fiance's interview went well. He was approved!!!!   And he is here now. He Arrived on the 4th of this month...10 days ago!!!

He told me that the interview went smoothly and that it's best to go with everything and let the embassy pick and choose what documents they want. He saw a lot of people with too little documentation or none at all practically. He said many of those who had their documents were not organized and that caused a lot of impatience with the the interviewers.

The interviewer was polite enough and did not ask many questions, but instead relied on the documentation provided.

They asked the following three questions:

    -Tell me about your fiance.

    -Where did you meet?

    -How did you meet?

The person who first took his packet (the person who initially reviews the packet and tells you to pay your fee), was very nice. She made a lot of jokes with my fiance and pointed out some of our most intimate pictures and asked my fiance what church he went to and that she was going to tell his pastor. My fiance later saw this person speak to the woman who interviewed him. He has a feeling that the impression he left on the first woman was conveyed to the interviewer, so it's best to be pleasant to EVERYONE and smile.

If you are a student or a professional, look the part. Every one should go to the interview dressed nicely, but not over done.

As for the visa.....That was a different story.

When my fiance went to pick up his visa, on the day they told him to be there. An embassy personnel told everyone who inquired about their visa that their visa would not be issued that day and that they should come back a week later. They were back logged and would not possibly get to them that day. There were people waiting a long as 3 weeks for their visas already and they were not ready!!!!

My fiance was told by someone prior to that announcement that his visa might be ready, so he hung around despite the odds of him getting his visa that day. As the number of people dwindled down (and after about 5 hours), an officer told my fiance that she was sorry and that it did not look like his visa would be ready that day. They gave him a slip to come back a week later and as he was about to leave he heard his name being called from another window (which wasn't even the correct window) asking him to come and collect his visa.

Divine intervention? I believe so. My fiance said that he was praying the whole 5 hours he sat there.

So that's about it in a nutshell.

His stubbornness paid off and saved him a week or maybe even a month....who knows!

All I know is...GOD is GOOD!!!!

If you have any questions, I promise I will be good about getting back to you! Ask away!!!

  6. Hi, We sent our paper back and they recieved them on 2/14/08....our interview date was 4/1/08........when she has her papers filled out is it possible for her to email them back to the consulate...it cuts about 2 weeks out...and call every day, even 2 times a day, (27 11) 644-8000 Ext # 8124 or Ext# 8141 (We spoke to a very buzy woman named Ericia)...was was very helpful getting a date, but you must keep calling once they have your P3....You do not need anything back from them just the date and you show up.......She said the 2nd week of every month they start giving out the following months appointments, for example this month 4/7/08 they would be giving out appointments for June...and if they are booked call every day to see if there is a cancallation.....Just keep callin!!!!

    Terry

    Hello,

I posted a couple of weeks ago about the snag my fiancee and I hit with getting her German police clearance. To make a long story short, they spelled her name wrong on the document and had to send it back to Germany to be corrected. that was almost three weeks ago and we have not heard anything since. My fiancee will be contacting the Germany emabssy about this soon to hoepfully get some sort of status update.

I wrote to the Consulate in Johannesburg to explain this situation and hopefully get them to get us the earliest possible interview date once we have everyhting together. Their response is below:

    Dear Mr. Dagle,

As soon as your fiancée returns her checklist, we will do our very best to ensure that she get the first available appointment for an interview. However, our appointment schedule is very busy and currently we are about to start scheduling appointments for the month of June. Please keep in mind that we may only be in a position to schedule an appointment six weeks out.

    Thank you,

    Consular Section Johannesburg

I cant believe that once she sends in her checklist that it will take 6 weeks to get her an interview!!!!! This is yet another blow to us and the time apart and the process are really starting to get to both of us! Does anyone have any advise for us or any history with dealing with things liek this? My head is spinning!!!!!!!!!

  7. Hi Zee,

Thanks so much for all your help thru this whole process, I just wanted to let you know that Start and I were married on Saturday 4/12/08.....

    Terry

    Hi everyone!!!

So, I have been seeing these kinds of lists on other forums and I thought we didn't have one so I made one :D I just thought it would be a nice way for us to keep track of where everyone is at in the process. Plus, I was bored

As meticulous as I am, I am sure I am missing someone or something is wrong. All the info I got was what I got off the VJ timelines. I only included people who have logged onto VJ since September and have timelines (no timeline, no place on the list). As updates get made I will add/change the list as appropriate.

If something is wrong please PM me and I will make the changes.

    Zee

  8. On the I-864 , Question #24...there is a space for the Intending immigrant's income and part E of Q24 states that the immigrant doesn't have any child they do not have to fill out the I 864

    Do you anything about this?

    Thanks, Terry

Yes  if he has been working legally in USA using EAD, then yes he can.

You will provide I-864 because US Citizen Spouse MUST be primary sponsor, and he will provide an I-864A as a member of your household.

How Can the Intending Immigrant Be Considered a Household Member?

Listed below are two ways that the intending immigrant may be considered to be a household member for the purposes of pooling income with the sponsor to meet the Affidavit of Support requirements:

    • The intending immigrant has the same principal residence as the sponsor and the intending immigrant can establish that his or her income will continue from the same source, even after acquisition of permanent residence.

    • The intending immigrant is the sponsor's spouse and the intending immigrant can show that his or her income will continue from the same source after acquisition of permanent residence.

  9. Call the embassey and have them email the P3...you get it in 1 hour....file it out and fax it back ASAP....make sure he has the long form birth cert and the police report took a long time....do it right away if not done yet!!!!

    Terry

Soon my fiance will be waiting for Packet 3 to arrive, can he go ahead and get his police certificates or does he have proof that he needs them? He will have to travel about 300 miles to get one of them since he has moved in that last 3 years. Just wondering if we could get ahead a little bit.

    Thanks Sarah

  10. Hey, only use the doctors in Johannesburg....We went to the doctor in Cape Town first....He took our money and then we found out that the embassy never re newed his contract.....Only use Johannesburg!!!!!!! after you get the P3, right before your interview date....once your send the P3 back, start calling the embassey everyday to get a date...it took us from 2/14/08 to 4/1/08 for a date!!!

    Terry

Please, can anyone let me know what the medical exam is all about before the interview at the consulate? And what all shots my fiance has to have. Thanks and good luck to everyone!!!
  11. Thanks, and no kids yet!!!!

    Stuart

Thanks, I have been employeed in the US for the past 4 years with the same company and I report back to work this Monday 4/14/07.................Terry's income is short about $3000.00.......I can cover that by at least 10 times.....Not sure what forms I need to fill out......just the I 864 or both the I864 and the I 864A...This whole process is very unclear

    Stuart

    Just the I-864.

However, an intending immigrant whose income is being used to meet the income requirement does not need to complete Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and HouseholdMember [....]

So I think that Terry would fill the I-864 out but just include your information for Q24 and then checks box (e). I don'ty think you need to fill anything out. You would only fill out the I-864 IF you have dependents that immigrated with you.

    Stuart

    From the I-864A:

If you are the intending immigrant and the sponsor is including your income on Form I-864 to meet the eligibility requirements, you need to complete this form only if you have accompanying dependents. If you are the intending immigrant and the sponsor is including only your assets on Form I-864, you do not need to complete this form, even if you have accompanying dependents.
I guess the question is: do you have any dependents? If not, then if you are using your income, you just need to fill out the I-864, not the I-864A.

    From the I-864:

Income from the intending immigrant, if that income will continue from the same source after immigration, and if theintending immigrant is currently living in your residence. If the intending immigrant is your spouse, his or her income can be counted regardless of current residence, but it must continue from the same source after he or she becomes a lawful permanent resident.

So, you can use your income to make up the difference in Terry's income. You cannot use only your income. On the I-864, Q24 is where you would indicate your income.

  13. I found this info in this site

    Description:

Form I-864A may be filed by a sponsor and a non-U.S. citizen immigrant. Form I-864A is an optional form and sets forward a contract in which the immigrant agrees to make assets and/or income available to the sponsor to help support the immigrant for which the affidavit of support has been filed. Form I-864A sets forward obligations of the household member in this contract which will terminate when the obligation under the Affidavit of Support of the sponsor terminates. A separate Form I-864A must be used for each household member whose income and/or assets are being used by a sponsor to qualify. Form I-864A may be submitted simultaneously with Form I-864. Form I-864A (Affidavit of Support Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member) may also be known as USCIS Form I-864A, I 864A, Form I864A or immigration form I-864A.

Does anyone know can I as the sponsor who is about $3000.00 short have my husbanh/non us citizen, whom I am sponsoring, aid in my income or do we have to get a co-sponsor.......I am soooooo very confused!!!!!!!

  14. Hi I found this in this site

    Sponsor's Income Requirement

As a sponsor, your household income must equal or exceed 125 percent of the Federal poverty line for your household size. For the purpose of the affidavit of support, household size includes yourself, all persons related to you by birth, marriage, or adoption living in your residence, your dependents, any immigrants you have previously sponsored using INS Form I-864 if that obligation has not terminated, and the intending immigrant(s) in Part 3 of this affidavit of support. The poverty guidelines are calculated and published annually by the Department of Health and Human Services. Sponsors who are on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces other than for training need only demonstrate income at 100 percent of the poverty line if they are submitting this affidavit for the purpose of sponsoring their spouse or child.

If you are currently employed and have an individual income which meets or exceeds 125 percent of the Federal poverty line, (or 100 percent, if applicable) for your household size, you do not need to list the income of any other person. When determining your income, you may include the income generated by individuals related to you by birth, marriage, or adoption who are living in your residence, if they have lived in your residence for the previous 6 months, or who are listed as dependents on your most recent Federal income tax return whether or not they live in your residence. For their income to be considered, these household members or dependents must be willing to make their income available for the support of the sponsored immigrant(s) if necessary, and to complete and sign Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member.

However, a household member who is the immigrant you are sponsoring only need complete Form I-864A if his or her income will be used to determine your ability to support a spouse and/or children immigrating with him or her.

Can Stuart fill out a I-864A and then we can use his income along with mine....my income comes up short because I only worked part time the last 5 years while in college......

    Terry

Would you know if I can use my own income, Terry the US Citizen is a full time student with a part time job.....I have been working in the USA for the last 4 years and make more than the 125% 0f the poverty level. I can't find an answer to this anywhere!!

    Stuart

No. The petitioner or the petitioner and a co sponsor have to complete it. The idea is if you don't have income, who will take care of you and prevent you from becoming a public charge. You can't use your own income for that.

  15. I am confused with the filling as code ©(9) what is that?

Where do i send the forms, i am filling I-485, I-765, I-864 together.

If i pay the fee for the I-485 does that mean i do not need to add the fee for the rest?

Can more than one person sponsor me in the I-864 form?

    Many thanks

    Stuart

  16. Look on www.kayak.com for the cheapest flights

I need advice on getting a Delta flight from Atlanta to Lagos, Nigeria. I do not like stop over in Europe. I need the CHEAPEST website/agency/etc... that can atleast give me the delta flight from Atlanta to Lagos that can be under $1000 including taxes. I know if I was going to purchase it directly through the airline for November, I would get it around $1300 plus tax which will end up around $1400.

I have not taken Delta to Nigeria before, any advice on how the airline is like. I just love the direct flight from America to Nigeria, even being a few hundred dollars more than a few other airlines but with less tax.

  17. In Johannesburg, Stuart's interview was Tuesday 4/1/08 and we picked the Visa up on Friday 4/4/08 at 3pm and it was there waiting for us

    Terry

Does anyone know from personal exprience how long it takes from the day of your interview til actually getting the Visa?? And if it's not the same day.....why do they make you wait?? Do they tell you the day of the interview if you're getting the Visa? Or do they keep you in suspense til it's actually in your hands? Thanks in advance for your replies!!!!!!
